“We are living in the time of the end. The fast-fulfilling signs of the times declare that the coming of Christ is near at hand. The days in which we live are solemn and important. The Spirit of God is gradually but surely being withdrawn from the earth. Plagues and judgments are already falling upon the despisers of the grace of God. The calamities by land and sea, the unsettled state of society, the alarms of war, are portentous. They forecast approaching events of the greatest magnitude. 9T 11.1

“The agencies of evil are combining their forces and consolidating. They are strengthening for the last great crisis. Great changes are soon to take place in our world, and the final movements will be rapid ones. 9T 11.2

“The condition of things in the world shows that troublous times are right upon us. The daily papers are full of indications of a terrible conflict in the near future. Bold robberies are of frequent occurrence. Strikes are common. Thefts and murders are committed on every hand. Men possessed of demons are taking the lives of men, women, and little children. Men have become infatuated with vice, and every species of evil prevails. 9T 11.3

The enemy has succeeded in perverting justice and in filling men’s hearts with the desire for selfish gain. “Justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.” Isaiah 59:14. In the great cities there are multitudes living in poverty and wretchedness, well-nigh destitute of food, shelter, and clothing; while in the same cities are those who have more than heart could wish, who live luxuriously, spending their money on richly furnished houses, on personal adornment, or worse still, upon the gratification of sensual appetites, upon liquor, tobacco, and other things that destroy the powers of the brain, unbalance the mind, and debase the soul. The cries of starving humanity are coming up before God, while by every species of oppression and extortion men are piling up colossal fortunes. 9T 11.4

On one occasion, when in New York City, I was in the night season called upon to behold buildings rising story after story toward heaven. These buildings were warranted to be fireproof, and they were erected to glorify their owners and builders. Higher and still higher these buildings rose, and in them the most costly material was used. Those to whom these buildings belonged were not asking themselves: “How can we best glorify God?” The Lord was not in their thoughts. 9T 12.1

I thought: “Oh, that those who are thus investing their means could see their course as God sees it! They are piling up magnificent buildings, but how foolish in the sight of the Ruler of the universe is their planning and devising. They are not studying with all the powers of heart and mind how they may glorify God. They have lost sight of this, the first duty of man.” 9T 12.2

As these lofty buildings went up, the owners rejoiced with ambitious pride that they had money to use in gratifying self and provoking the envy of their neighbors. Much of the money that they thus invested had been obtained through exaction, through grinding down the poor. They forgot that in heaven an account of every business transaction is kept; every unjust deal, every fraudulent act, is there recorded. The time is coming when in their fraud and insolence men will reach a point that the Lord will not permit them to pass, and they will learn that there is a limit to the forbearance of Jehovah. 9T 12.3

The scene that next passed before me was an alarm of fire. Men looked at the lofty and supposedly fire-proof buildings and said: “They are perfectly safe.” But these buildings were consumed as if made of pitch. The fire engines could do nothing to stay the destruction. The firemen were unable to operate the engines. 9T 13.1

I am instructed that when the Lord’s time comes, should no change have taken place in the hearts of proud, ambitious human beings, men will find that the hand that had been strong to save will be strong to destroy. No earthly power can stay the hand of God. No material can be used in the erection of buildings that will preserve them from destruction when God’s appointed time comes to send retribution on men for their disregard of His law and for their selfish ambition. 9T 13.2

There are not many, even among educators and statesmen, who comprehend the causes that underlie the present state of society. Those who hold the reins of government are not able to solve the problem of moral corruption, poverty, pauperism, and increasing crime. They are struggling in vain to place business operations on a more secure basis. If men would give more heed to the teaching of God’s word, they would find a solution of the problems that perplex them. 9T 13.3

The Scriptures describe the condition of the world just before Christ’s second coming. Of the men who by robbery and extortion are amassing great riches, it is written: “Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days. Behold, the hire of the laborers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth. Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter. Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.” James 5:3-6. 9T 13.4

But who reads the warnings given by the fast-fulfilling signs of the times? What impression is made upon worldlings? What change is seen in their attitude? No more than was seen in the attitude of the inhabitants of the Noachian world. Absorbed in worldly business and pleasure, the antediluvians “knew not until the Flood came, and took them all away.” Matthew 24:39. They had heaven-sent warnings, but they refused to listen. And today the world, utterly regardless of the warning voice of God, is hurrying on to eternal ruin. 9T 14.1

The world is stirred with the spirit of war. The prophecy of the eleventh chapter of Daniel has nearly reached its complete fulfillment. Soon the scenes of trouble spoken of in the prophecies will take place. 9T 14.2

“Behold, the Lord maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof…. Because they have transgressed the laws, changed the ordinance, broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore hath the curse devoured the earth, and they that dwell therein are desolate…. The mirth of tabrets ceaseth, the noise of them that rejoice endeth, the joy of the harp ceaseth.” Isaiah 24:1-8. 9T 14.3

“Alas for the day! for the day of the Lord is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come…. The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down, for the corn is withered. How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate.” “The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.” Joel 1:15-18, 12. 9T 15.1

“I am pained at my very heart; … I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war. Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled.” Jeremiah 4:19, 20. 9T 15.2

“I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light. I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly. I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled. I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down.” Verses 23-26. 9T 15.3

“Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.” Jeremiah 30:7. 9T 15.4

Not all in this world have taken sides with the enemy against God. Not all have become disloyal. There are a faithful few who are true to God; for John writes: “Here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” Revelation 14:12. Soon the battle will be waged fiercely between those who serve God and those who serve Him not. Soon everything that can be shaken will be shaken, that those things that cannot be shaken may remain. 9T 15.5

Satan is a diligent Bible student. He knows that his time is short, and he seeks at every point to counterwork the work of the Lord upon this earth. It is impossible to give any idea of the experience of the people of God who shall be alive upon the earth when celestial glory and a repetition of the persecutions of the past are blended. They will walk in the light proceeding from the throne of God. By means of the angels there will be constant communication between heaven and earth. And Satan, surrounded by evil angels, and claiming to be God, will work miracles of all kinds, to deceive, if possible, the very elect. God’s people will not find their safety in working miracles, for Satan will counterfeit the miracles that will be wrought. God’s tried and tested people will find their power in the sign spoken of in Exodus 31:12-18. They are to take their stand on the living word: “It is written.” This is the only foundation upon which they can stand securely. Those who have broken their covenant with God will in that day be without God and without hope. 9T 16.1

The worshipers of God will be especially distinguished by their regard for the fourth commandment, since this is the sign of God’s creative power and the witness to His claim upon man’s reverence and homage. The wicked will be distinguished by their efforts to tear down the Creator’s memorial and to exalt the institution of Rome. In the issue of the conflict all Christendom will be divided into two great classes, those who keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus, and those who worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark. Although church and state will unite their power to compel all, “both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond,” to receive the mark of the beast, yet the people of God will not receive it. Revelation 13:16. The prophet of Patmos beholds “them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God,” and singing the song of Moses and the Lamb. Revelation 15:2. 9T 16.2

Fearful tests and trials await the people of God. The spirit of war is stirring the nations from one end of the earth to the other. But in the midst of the time of trouble that is coming,—a time of trouble such as has not been since there was a nation,—God’s chosen people will stand unmoved. Satan and his host cannot destroy them, for angels that excel in strength will protect them. 9T 17.1

God’s word to His people is: “Come out from among them, and be ye separate, … and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be My sons and daughters.” “Ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of Him who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” 2 Corinthians 6:17, 18; 1 Peter 2:9. God’s people are to be distinguished as a people who serve Him fully, wholeheartedly, taking no honor to themselves, and remembering that by a most solemn covenant they have bound themselves to serve the Lord and Him only. 9T 17.2

“The Lord spake unto Moses, saying, Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily My Sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you. Ye shall keep the Sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: everyone that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the Lord: whosoever doeth any work in the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever: for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day He rested, and was refreshed.” Exodus 31:12-17. 9T 17.3

Do not these words point us out as God’s denominated people? and do they not declare to us that so long as time shall last, we are to cherish the sacred, denominational distinction placed upon us? The children of Israel were to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations “for a perpetual covenant.” The Sabbath has lost none of its meaning. It is still the sign between God and His people, and it will be so forever.

So, in this little series, the subject of those noble Bereans has been introduced.

And today, it is still worthy of a little more exploration, regarding another area of concern.

Let’s look at the key Bible passage… “And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming there, went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:10, 11

AN OPEN-MINDED SPIRIT IN BEREA

.

OK, so these in Berea were more noble, because they: 

.

1. “Received the Word with all readiness of mind.” 

.

2. “And searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”

.

And so, these Bereans were ready to receive new teachings, which no doubt, conflicted with the supposed, “orthodox” teachings of that day.

.

Yes, there was an open-mindedness which permeated their hearts, and a willingness to continue searching the Scriptures daily, in hopes that these seemingly new teachings were indeed true!

A FAILED PREDICTION?

.

A few years ago, a certain radio Bible teacher made the seemingly failed prediction that May 21st, 2011 would be the last day of earth’s existence, because of the long-promised return of Christ in the clouds of glory.

.

And of course, when that day came and went, the world began throwing verbal stones at Harold Camping.

.

But in reality, nothing failed!

.

No, nothing in Camping’s prediction failed! But God purposely allowed this tarrying-time to awaken His sleeping saints, to prepare them to stand in the Day of the Lord!

MANY FALSE ACCUSATIONS

Yes, Harold Camping was accused of being a false teacher, all for the sake of getting rich.

 

.

But those who knew him, fully understood that this dedicated Bible teacher was a very spiritual servant of God: a man who cared nothing for the riches of this world!

.

But rather, Camping loved the heavenly riches found only in the study of God’s Word, the Bible!

.

ONLY A FLASH IN THE PAN

.

Much of this world only got a brief glimpse of this faithful Bible teacher whose short brush with world-wide notoriety was nothing more than, “A flash in the pan”, as the saying goes.

.

And yet, Harold Camping studied the Bible for hours each day, prior to a daily Bible study and a 90 minute nightly call-in radio talk show. And armed with nothing more than a King James Bible, and a memory of so much of the Bible, Camping answered the many questions about the Bible, night after night for 5 long decades.

.

But of course, having only a very brief encounter with Harold Camping, the public and world knew very little about this wisp of a man, with a deep and booming voice, proclaiming the end of the world!

5 OR 6 HOUR STUDIES PER DAY

But God had raised up Camping, and He gave this former construction-engineer-turned-Bible-teacher, a vast knowledge of the Bible, made possible by his 5 or 6 hours per day comparing Scripture with Scripture, to try to understand more and more of what the Bible is saying to Mankind.

COME OUT OF BABYLON!

.

Now one of the greatest messages which God gave to Harold Camping was the message to, “Come out of her (Babylon) My people!”

.

This great call is found in Revelation 18:4, and is one of the last great messages that was to be given to the world, prior to the end of the world!

ECLIPSED BY END-OF-WORLD MESSAGE

.

But this message became totally eclipsed by Camping’s announcement of the end of the world! The world was caught by surprise, when Family Radio decided to send out this message with as much “Shock & Awe” as possible!

.

Camping knew he was taking a big risk! He knew that Family Radio was probably going to disintegrate because all of its assets would be depleted in the vast advertising campaign to trumpet the announcement of the end of the world!  But Camping totally believed his mathematical calculations which he had studied for years in the Bible calendars. And so, he was totally convinced of the world’s end. 

.

But because the world’s attention became so arrested by that announcement, and the shortness of time to the much-anticipated date of May 21, 2011, all those years of Camping’s radio ministry were gobbled up by the loud trumpet sounds announcing the end of the world!

THE WORLD MOCKED ON!

.

But God knew all this and allowed that fateful day to come and go without incident. And then, the entire world turned its guns back on Camping, and his supposed failed prediction.

.

Even religious ministries and at least one Bible college made YouTube videos, mocking Camping, often making fun of his looks.

.

Well, Camping’s seemingly failed prediction, and all the resulting societal vengeance was more than Camping could take. And shortly after, he had a massive stroke, rendering him almost unable to carry on his radio ministry. And after another year or so, Camping died.

.

GOD ALLOWED THIS TARRYING TIME

.

But as already mentioned, God purposely allowed all this to happen, in order to complete His last call for His people to come out of the apostate churches, and to come out of the wickedness which the entire world is now steeped in.

.

Yes, what Harold Camping did not understand was, that God has one final agenda to fulfill, prior to the end: the glorification of His faithful remnant, the Church Elect!

.

And God was not going to end the world without completely annihilating Satan’s kingdom! Yes, Satan’s kingdom must be completely toppled prior to the end, and God will use His glorified outcasts from the fallen church-world to accomplish that victory over Satan and his evil government.

THE CHURCH-ELECT WILL SHINE!

.

That’s right, God is not going to allow the Devil to hold God’s people captive in our semi-diseased spiritual condition! And the grand finale to the world’s encounter with Judgment Day, will be the moment of glory in which His Elect will shine with all the brightness of the Sun, for all the world to behold!

.

This is the 7th and final plague to be poured out upon this unbelieving and defiant world, just prior to the end! The Church-Elect will shine with Christlike brightness, totally blinding the inhabitants of this Sodom & Gomorrah world! The Cross will finally be uplifted, for all the world to behold!

.

And so, this is why May 21st, 2011 came and went without incident.

.

But now, the message is going out to God’s people to put away all our worldly idols and affections, and go to work while there is still time, to finally prepare to shine for all the onlooking world to behold!

“COME OUT OF HER MY PEOPLE!”

And so, this great message of Revelation 18 is the one missing piece from Harold Camping’s ministry, which has yet to be presented to God’s faithful ones.

And yet, God had faithfully preserved this great message to His people. Yes, this call to come out of spiritual Babylon can be fully understood by merely listening to that great swan-song Bible study of the Book of Jeremiah. And this 600+ 25 minute daily Bible study can be downloaded off the Internet, and shared with any one willing to listen with Berean-like nobility and childlike open-mindedness!

“THEY WHICH LEAD THEE CAUSE THEE TO ERR”

So the challenge goes out to any professing Christian to prove that he (or she) is truly a Noble Berean, and stop letting others dictate to him what he must believe and must not believe…

Listen…“O My people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.” Isaiah 3:12

.

Yes, as it reveals in the above verse, it is the Church leaders who mislead God’s people!

.

But just because the world cannot understand that there has been a tarrying time in the Bible’s end-of-the-world prophecy concerning the “Last Day”, that doesn’t necessitate that we too must remain in ignorance concerning these things!

.

And all a truth-seeking Berean has to do is to begin the painless process of listening to a 25 minute Bible study each morning, and test and see for one’s own self!

BIBLE VERSES PICTURED IN THE HEAVENS

“With the hoofs of his horses shall he tread down all thy streets: he shall slay thy people by the sword, and thy strong garrisons shall go down to the ground.” Ezekiel 26:12

THIS STAR-CHART: This is a Wikipedia star-chart, in which this site’s editor has sketched in these three constellation (without the Holy-Ghost-Rider Constellation). Notice how the right front hoof is trampling on the tail of the Dragon. Also notice his eye is a star. It’s best seen when in the western half of the sky. It is found in mid-sky traveling from east to west. In January, it is in the west after midnight. As winter progresses, it can be seen earlier and earlier in the evening. a dark sky with good star-visibility is best, but not absolutely necessary to see this constellation. It is found on the opposite side of the Dragon Constellation from Orion. And as already stated, this Goodly Horse Constellation can be seen best in mid-winter when it is in the western side of the sky, and you are looking at it while you are facing west. The nose and head of this horse is partly made from the Perseus Constellation. The tail and rear end is partly of the Cassiopeia Constellation. The hind-leg is made partly of stars from the Andromeda Constellation.

THIS HOLY-GHOST-RIDER

.

Now one thing that is noticeable and makes this constellation even more dramatic, is the fact that the Milky Way runs right through it. And the question that must be asked is, “What biblical implications does this constellation/Milky Way connection have?” Well, very simply put, if stars represent Believers, then this rider works in the world through His True-Worshippers, to a great extent.

.

WHY IS THIS CONSTELLATION SO INCOMPLETE IN APPEARANCE

.

So why is this constellation merely an outline? Well it does show his back, rear end and leg…and arm. But unlike, say, Orion, this constellation is very vague, even mysterious in appearance. Almost vacant in appearance. Yes this horseman represents Christ.

.

But even more than this, it represents the Holy Spirit of Christ. And as we all know, the Holy Spirit is very, very, un-intrusive, almost impossible to detect His presence. Hence, this constellation is perhaps the most faint of all the constellations of Signs Of Heaven!

One of the chief criticisms of Ellen G. White has been regarding her teachings on vegetarianism.

.

And she cited Genesis as a proof text, in which Man’s original diet was to be fruit, nuts, seeds and herbs, of which God pronounced to be “very good”.

.

But many Christians are quick to point out that the New Testament never commands nor even suggests that we are to abstain from meat-eating.

BIBLE HAS TEMPERANCE MESSAGE

.

But the Bible does command us thus…“Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning! Blessed art thou, O land, when thy King is the Son of Nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!” Ecclesiastes 10:16, 17

.

Here is a call for temperance in diet. One group of princes “feast in the morning”, while another group eat “in due season, for strength”.

.

While this above passage has great spiritual implications, the physical earthly interpretation cannot be overlooked. After all, to “eat in due season, for strength and not for drunkenness” is the very essence of a healthy diet!

THE ORIGINAL DIET: FRUIT & HERBS

.

And so, Ellen White’s counsels on good health practices were very much in harmony with Scripture. And as already mentioned, while the New Testament does not command vegetarianism, the Book of Genesis does indeed reveal that vegetarianism was the original and everlasting diet which God gave to Mankind.

.

And it must be remembered, the original diet will also be the everlasting diet in the “New Heaven and a New earth”.

.

And so, for this reason, Ellen White felt very strongly that vegetarianism was one of the fundamental elements of a healthful lifestyle.

JESUS, THE WAY, TRUTH & LIFE

.

Now having said all this, it must not be overlooked that God has given us a great role-model for all matters of life: Jesus Christ.

.

And Jesus proclaims of Himself…“I am the way, the truth, and the life…” John 14:6

.

Yes, we are commanded to follow Jesus. He is “the Way!” And He is “the Life!”

.

JESUS: A LIFE OF HEALTH

.

And the closer we examine His lifestyle, it appears that Jesus was extremely healthy. After all, his earlier life as a physical laborer (a carpenter), plus the countless miles he traveled on foot during His years of earthly ministry both indicate that Jesus was a very strong and healthy individual (and don’t forget that He spent his last years living totally outdoors on a 24/7 basis).

.

And yet, as we examine the very basic lifestyle of Jesus in the four Gospels, we see that Jesus ate fish. So obviously Jesus’ meat-eating didn’t seem to hamper His health in the least little bit!

“COME AND FOLLOW ME!”

Matthew 19:21

.

And so, while vegetarianism may indeed be one of the key fundamental ingredients to God’s original plan, we need never be afraid of imitating the lifestyle of Jesus: His active lifestyle of fasting, outdoor exercise combined with a simple diet of fish, fruit, whole-grain bread, water, etc., worked well for our divine Role-Model. And we would probably do well to also imitate Jesus in this area of our life, which would no doubt result in our greater degree of health.

And truth-be-told, Ellen White would no doubt agree with these things. As a matter of fact, she freely acknowledged that she also ate fish at various times in her long life.

This Woman of Revelation 12 is definitely fleeing to the mountains . As you can see in this sketch , The Dragon of Revelation 12 is spewing out his water of falsehoods: false gospels, false ideologies, various temptations, false brethren who will embrace her with the poisonous wine of the The Great Harlot of Babylon. These are what comprise this wave of water coming forth from the Dragon’s mouth. (see “Flood Waters of Satan”)
