Flee To The Mountain!

“Remember Lot’s Wife!”

“And it came to pass,

when they had brought them forth abroad,

that He said, ‘Escape for thy life;

look not behind thee,

neither stay thou in all the plain;

escape to the mountain,

lest thou be consumed.'”

Genesis 19:17

When Jesus spoke to His disciples of the last days, He told of the time that God’s people must flee to safety from the wrath which is coming upon the world.

.

And in His warning to us all, He finished with this fearful statement… “Remember Lot’s Wife!”

.

Yes, Jesus tells us to remember what happened when Mrs. Lot looked back sadly and longingly at her beloved world, which was to be totally burnt with fire from Heaven!

.

She turned into a pillar of salt: salt being a symbol of God’s Judgment!

.

SODOM & GOMORRAH WORLD TODAY!

.

Well, just about everybody knows the fiery outcome of that infamous city, Sodom.

.

But the point to today’s devotional is, that God orchestrated the events of that fateful day for our spiritual benefit.

.

And, the historical account of Lot fleeing Sodom, stands as a fearful warning to Christians against becoming enamored by all the glittering allurements of this present world-of-selfish-desires!

.

LOVING THIS PRESENT WORLD

.

Listen to this same warning of Jesus as it continues…

“Remember Lot’s wife!

Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it;

and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.”

Luke 17:32, 33

.

Now this above passage may seem confusing.

.

After all, just what does it mean, to save one’s life, and yet lose one’s life?

.

And what does it mean to lose one’s life, and yet preserve his or her life?

.

Perhaps this next passage will begin to clear up this question…

.

Listen… “He that loves his life shall lose it;

and he that hates his life in this world

shall keep it unto life eternal.

If any man serve Me,

let him follow Me…”

Luke 12:25, 26 (Condensed)

.

Here we see that Jesus is speaking of our love for this present selfish world with all its hedonistic pleasures and proud, ambitious aspirations.

.

Our love should be for the world to come! Not for this current, tragic, world-in-rebellion–against-Heaven!

.

THE LUSTS OF THE FLESH, EYES, & PRIDE

.

**But Satan has been giving this world a make-over ever since the days when physical persecution came to an end (for several centuries now).**

.

Oh yes, Christians in eastern nations have now begun to suffer physical persecution for their faith.

.

But Christians in the post-reformation nations are suffering a completely different type of persecution!

.

Yes, these nations which once lovingly embraced the Christian Reformation have now been flooded with every conceivable pleasure and proud attainment…

.

…all types of diversions which absorb our attention and conform our thoughts and character into the image of this Antichrist world.

.

**Yes, the “elect lady” (the Church-Faithful), has fallen prey to Satan’s deceptions and allurements…**

.

…all designed to deter Christian Pilgrims from walking that upward heaven-bound pathway, which leads out of this world! (2nd John 1:1)

.

GOOD NEWS!

.

Now the very Good News to all this is found in the Epistle of James…

“…*know ye not that…whosoever…will be a friend of the world***

is the enemy of God…

Draw nigh to God,

and He will draw nigh to you.

Cleanse your hands, ye sinners;

and purify your hearts, ye double minded…

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord,

and He shall lift you up.”

James 4:4, 8-10 (Condensed)

.

Yes, this above passage lays out the wonderful and glorious way back to God.

.

And we will once again return to the upward pathway out of this doomed world which is about to receive the same fate as Sodom!

But the Revelation 12 Woman (Ursa Major) must be seen on a dark starry night, away from city lights.
