Come Out of Her, My People!

.

Part 20:

“Why Can’t I Escape From Babylon? The Remedy!”

“Flee out of the midst of Babylon,

and deliver every man his soul:

be not cut off in her iniquity;

for this is the time of the LORD’S vengeance;

He will render unto her a recompense.”

Jeremiah 51:6

“ONLY ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR SINS!”

Jeremiah 3:13

.

In Yesterday’s devotional (click here) it was established that we have been drinking of Mystery Babylon’s narcotic-laced wine, to the point that we are un-cognizant of our undone spiritual condition!

.

And the attempt was made to point out the tell-tale signs of our apostasy.

.

(Just like David here, we must humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, pleading for forgiveness and restoration!)

A MATTER OF GRACE

.

Now of course, this spiritual journey away from Babylon can only be accomplished by the help that Heaven can give.

.

Yes, it is only by grace that we can do anything good!

.

(Just like Paul’s conversion to Christianity was by grace, since he wasn’t even looking for true Salvation, when God saved him, on that infamous road to Damascus! (see Acts 9:2))

.

But the mere fact that I have come to the realization that my life is not right as it should be, indicates that maybe, just maybe the Holy Spirit is working on my heart! And that’s Good News!

.

“GO AND SELL THAT THOU HAST”

.

Now I can quit going to church, but that alone will not solve my dilemma. There has to be a great decision made.

.

And just what is the great decision to be made?

.

Jesus says to each and every one of us…

…”go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor,

and thou shalt have treasure in heaven:

and come and follow Me.”

Matthew 19:21

.

You see, Jesus calls each and every one of us to, “Come and follow Me!”

.

But just like the rich young ruler pictured here, Christ counsels us to first, ‘Go and sell that thou hast, and thou shalt have treasure in Heaven!’

.

EARTH OR HEAVEN?

Yes, it is our privilege and joy to become followers and disciples of Jesus!

.

Here below is a key ingredient to Salvation, which has been all but lost sight of within the churches of Babylon….

.

Listen again to Jesus…“So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be My disciple.” Luke 14:33

.

Here is what so few are willing to do! To forsake everything!

.

A DECISION OF THE HEART!

.

Now this doesn’t necessarily mean that I must immediately trash all my belongings. No, but when a person truly receives a new heart, it is like that old song…

…”Turn your eyes upon Jesus!

Look full in His wonderful face!

And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,

in the light of His glory and grace!”

.

Yes, as we continue up the Heaven-ward Pathway, the things of this present world will lose their importance.

.

Oh yes, we must continue to work hard to supply the needs and comforts for our family.

.

But our heart will now become enlightened, and our eyes opened, as we will be spiritually seated together with Christ in His Heavenly Temple.

.

WE MUST CONTINUE IN GOD’S WORD!

But the big point to this devotional is that once we become a disciple who has truly forsaken this present world…

.

…our eyes will be opened to see this present world for what it really is! Satan’s kingdom!

.

Listen…”If ye continue in My Word,

then are ye My disciples indeed;

And ye shall know the truth,

and the truth shall make you free.”

John 8:31, 32

.

Now as true disciples, we may not be instantly set free from our bondage to sin. But this above verse encourages us to “continue in My Word.”

.

In other words, the disciple must persevere the trials that are sure to come his way, if he expects to be set free from sin!

DOOR OF MERCY STILL AJAR!

.

And so, the invitation goes out today, to come and follow Jesus!

.

This sad ol’ world is about to be burned up! There is nothing here of any value, except the souls of the lost multitudes waiting to behold the Church shine as the Sun!

.

So, let’s let go of this world, and cry out for deliverance! Let’s get on board the Gospel Ship while it is still taking on new passengers!

.

TODAY’S HEAVENLY SIGN

.

1st FACE…THE NIGHT-WATCHMAN

.

“MOON IS CONFOUNDED”… The first face, a man’s face, is easy to see.

.

**It is that proverbial ‘Man in the Moon’.**

.

Most have seen it.

.

Even as little children. (The other two faces are not so easy to see. But let’s concentrate on the first face.)

.

**Notice that the ‘Man in the Moon’ appears as though he is looking down at the Earth.**

.

‘Shock and Awe’!

.

That’s the look on his face.

.

Sadness too!

.

You might even see the tears running down his cheeks. (“Rivers of waters run down mine eyes, because they keep not thy law.” Psalm 119:136)

.

The Moon is spoken of as a “faithful witness”.

.

**God’s covenanted law is spoken of as a faithful witness as well.**

.

Listen to the Psalmist…

…It (God’s covenant with David shall be established for ever as the Moon,

and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.”

Psalm 89:37.“

Notice here that God is comparing His Covenant to the Moon as a “faithful witness”.

.

The Moon reflects the light of the Sun, just as Christians should reflect the light of the Sun of Righteousness, Jesus, who should be in their daily lives.

.

And so the Moon fulfills the verse from Psalms which proclaims… “Praise ye him, Sun and Moon: praise him, all ye stars of light.” Psalm 148:3
