Daily Devotional – FEBRUARY 13

.

The Fearful Message of Habakkuk,

.

Part 2

“I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower,

winter four constellations

.

and will watch to see what He will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.

.

And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.

.

For the vision is yet for an appointed time,

.

but at the end it shall speak, and not lie:

.

though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come,

.

it will not tarry.”

.

Habakkuk 2:1-3

HABAKKUK, CHAPTER 3: HABAKKUK’S PRAYER

.

(CONTINUED FROM YESTERDAY) Now begins Habakkuk’s prayer…

.

Listen… “O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid:

O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years,

in the midst of the years make known;

in wrath remember mercy.

God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah.

His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of His praise.

And His brightness was as the light;

He had horns coming out of His hand:

and there was the hiding of His power.”

Habakkuk 3:2-4

Signs Of Heaven - Winter Constellations

.

Now here we see that Habakkuk prays for mercy in the midst of the years!

And so, in somewhat allegorical language is Jesus described!

And in this description is mentioned the “Signs Of Heaven”.

.

Listen… “His glory covered the Heavens” Habakkuk 3:3.

Yes, this verse alludes to the signs which God is now revealing in the Heavens!

.

But more than this, the horns of light were described as coming out of the Savior’s hands!

.

This horn of Salvation by the self-sacrificing love of Jesus, symbolized by the nail holes in His hands, is the only truly Good News that the lost souls of this hopelessly dying world will ever hear: a Way of escape out of this hopelessly doomed world!

.

Signs Of Heaven – Winter Constellations

.

“HIS GLORY COVERED THE HEAVENS”

Habakkuk 3:3

.

Now, the bulk of Chapter 3, is describing Michael, the conquering priestly-soldier (see Daniel 12:1 & Revelation 12:7)

.

Yes, our priestly Savior will put on His garments of vengeance (Isaiah 59:17),

and… “In that day the LORD with

His sore and great and strong sword

shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent,

even leviathan that crooked serpent;

and He shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.”

Isaiah 27:1

.

Here is an allusion to the Signs Of Heaven, which is seen in the winter skies: “bow & arrows”, “horses”, “chariots”, “glittering spear”, “sun”, and “moon” are all signs seen in the heavens, being mentioned in Habakkuk, Chapter 3.

Oh yes, they are likewise allegorical pictures of the Gospel.

HABAKKUK’S SHAME

.

**Now at this point (verse 16), Habakkuk realizes that God is the awesome and majestic conqueror of all evil! And Habakkuk realizes his own wretchedness and that he too was part of the problem!**

.

Listen… “When I heard, my belly trembled;

my lips quivered at the voice:

rottenness entered into my bones,

and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble:

when He cometh up unto the people,

He will invade them with His troops.”

Habakkuk 3:16

.

And so, Habakkuk was happy to grovel in the dust, so to speak, in hopes that God will have mercy on his wretched condition. (Habakkuk 3:16)

.

And Habakkuk sees that Christ is coming to invade Christendom, to slay the wicked, but also to deliver His Chosen people from the apostate, lukewarm condition of the fallen churches! (Habakkuk 3:16)

THE CHURCHES LEFT DESOLATE

.

Now in Habakkuk 3:17, is described in allegorical language, the desolate condition of the churches, as Christ removes His people…

.

Listen… “Although the fig tree shall not blossom,

neither shall fruit be in the vines;

the labour of the olive shall fail,

and the fields shall yield no meat;

the flock shall be cut off from the fold,

and there shall be no herd in the stalls:”

Habakkuk 3:17

.

These are obvious metaphorical images often used to describe God’s sheep (people) vacating the churches, and the Holy Spirit’s oil being removed, and the resulting lack of the fruit of the Spirit in those desolate bodies (Galatians 5:22).

WHERE WE MUST FLEE TO!

.

Now the last two verses are Habakkuk’s praise, as he declares the hiding place in which he runs to…

“Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

The LORD God is my strength,

and He will make my feet like hinds’ feet,

and He will make me to walk upon mine high places.”

Habakkuk 3:18, 19

Yes, the high places spoken of here, symbolize the kingdom of God which dwells within God’s faithful people…

“The kingdom of God cometh

not with observation:

Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there!

for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”

Luke 17:20, 21

.

Yes, here are the high places we must walk upon!

These are the mountains we are counseled to flee to!

.

Listen… “Even when we were dead in sins,

hath quickened us together with Christ,

(by grace ye are saved;)

And hath raised us up together,

and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:”

Ephesians 2:5, 6

.

But there is another aspect to fleeing!

.

Yes, we are to flee to the heavenly Mount Zion, to be priests in His Most Holy Place!

.

But we are also to flee from the wrath to come!

.

You see, this constellation tells the tale of two women! But how can it be, that nobody has ever seen the Pleiades as a constellation of a woman?
