Come Out of Her, My People!

.

Part 16:

“The Women of Babylon”

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses,

.

know ye not that the friendship of the world

.

is enmity with God?

.

whosoever therefore, will be a friend of the world

.

is the enemy of God.”

CITY OF CONFUSION

.

Babylon was given its name during the building of that infamous Tower of Babylon, because God confused their speech…

.

Listen… “Therefore is the name of it called Babel;

because the LORD did there confound the language

of all the earth:

and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad

upon the face of all the earth.”

Genesis 11:9

.

**And so, the name, Babylon, actually means, “City of Confusion”.**

WORLDLY AND SENSUAL FASHIONS

.

While back in earlier decades, church-going women paid great attention to modesty and propriety, slowly but surely, the fashions of the world worked their way into the Church.

.

And now in the last 30 years or so, many of the women come to church without shame, dressing as the women of this pagan world!

.

PAINTED FACES

Listen to Ezekiel…

“And furthermore, that ye have sent for men to come from far…

for whom thou didst wash thyself, painted thy eyes, and decked thyself with ornaments…

Yet they went in unto her, as they go in unto a woman that plays the harlot:

so went they in unto Aholah and unto Aholibah, the lewd women.”

Ezekiel 23:40, 44

.

Here above, Ezekiel alludes to two adulterous sisters who paint their eyes and deck themselves with ornaments in attempt to attract pagan men to their beds of lust.

THE FAITHFUL WOMEN

.

But this above passage from Ezekiel 23:40, 44 is a warning and an encouragement to faithful women in churches: those who desire only to please their spiritual husband, Christ, by separating themselves from the wares-n-ways of this Babylonish world.

.

And even at the risk of looking less attractive, these faithful women shun all pagan adornments, in hopes of pleasing Christ!

.

NEW TESTAMENT AFFIRMATION

.

Now Peter admonishes New Testament women by saying…

“Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands...

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair,

and of wearing of gold,

or of putting on of apparel;”

1st Peter 3:2 (Condensed)

.

So, Peter here confirms the Old Testament command for women to not follow the ways of this Babylonish (and Sodomitish) world!

TRUE BEAUTY FOUND IN CHRIST

.

But listen to what God sees as true beauty…

“But let it (your beauty) be the hidden man of the heart,

in that which is not corruptible,

even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit,

which is in the sight of God of great price”

1st Peter 3:4, 5 (Condensed)

.

Those who truly worship God realize that Christ is the very essence of true beauty.

.

His meekness and quietness and agape love and honesty, etc., are the very riches and adornments which every true Believer seeks after!

CHURCH: NO LONGER A SAFE-HAVEN

.

The Church should have been the one place where Believers could feel safe from the allurements of sin.

.

But instead of being a safe-haven, the churches became a place of sensuality, not only in the area of immodest dress, but also in the sensual music being played!

.

Oh yes, these “songs of worship” may have quasi-Christian lyrics.

.

But the music itself and the performances are quite often an imitation of the sensuality heard in this Babylonish world!

.

PRIDE, BUT ALSO INSECURITY

.

Of course, the great underlying cause for all this paganry is human pride and selfishness. It is an attempt to exalt self.

.

And yes, there are many women who feel they are not adequate.

.

And they often attempt to make up for their deficiency with just a little make-up, and some modest but attractive apparel, and maybe even a little costume jewelry.

.

It’s not our job to be judgmental against the motives of those who are not so physically attractive, and simply try to make up for their lack.

.

Nevertheless, the Bible reveals that true beauty is the Spirit of Christ within.

.

This pagan world seeks after the so-called beauty according to “the god of this world”, Satan. (see 2nd Corinthians 4:4)

.

COME OUT OF HER MY PEOPLE!

.

Well, the very Good News is, that God is just now calling His people to come out of spiritual Babylon…

“And I heard another voice from Heaven,

saying, ‘Come out of her, My people,

that ye be not partakers of her sins,

and that ye receive not of her plagues.”

Revelation 18:4

.

Yes, we have all been influenced by the paganry which has infiltrated the Church over the past several centuries.

.

But now, it is time for God’s people to separate themselves and flee to Mount Sion, the heavenly City of God!

.

A BADGE OF HONOR?

.

But one caution is necessary in this little devotional. The Christian must always be careful not to let his or her Christian lifestyle become some sort of “badge of honor”.

.

In other words, there is always the temptation to make some sort of uniform dress-code among religious people.

.
