Revelation 7: “The Four Winds”

“And after these things I saw four angels
standing on the four corners of the earth,
holding the four winds of the earth,
that the wind should not blow on the earth,
nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
And I saw another angel ascending from the east,
having the seal of the living God:
and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels,
to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees,
till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.”
Revelation 7:1-3

This above signature passage speaks of the time when the four winds will be let loose, just after God’s servants are sealed in their foreheads.

So just what are these four winds which were to be let loose after the servants of God were to be sealed in their foreheads?

“EVERY WIND OF DOCTRINE”
.
Listen to Paul’s letter to the Ephesians… “Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God…That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine” Ephesians 4:13, 14
.
Now here we see that the winds represent, “every wind of doctrine”. And combining this with the “four winds”, spoken of in Revelation 7, it becomes apparent that the four winds symbolize all the various false gospels and ideologies which come at us from every direction: from every quarter of the world’s societies.

WINDS NOW BLOWING?

Now at this point someone will stand up and shout, “Well that’s already happening today! False gospels and various ideologies are indeed blowing in the winds, from every direction!”
.
And certainly, it is hard to argue with that statement! Yes, false gospels and worldly ideologies abound in today’s church-world, causing much strife, confusion, and even war!
.
And likewise, the church, to a certain extent, has also embraced atheistic psychology, giving it a religious bent.
.
And certainly, our western societies are literally teeming with various ideologies and philosophies! This present-day world is a veritable cyclonic hurricane or tsunami of ideologies, philosophies and false gospels!
.

PANDEMIC MADNESS
.
Just turn on any TV or radio station or go to any website or social media site! Truly, truly, madness and confusion abound!
.
Many young people are now being virtually driven to violence, mental issues, depression, even suicide, because of all the insanity being broadcast over “the power of the air”, that is, via today’s various electronic media! (See Ephesians 2:2 for “the power of the air” reference)
.
And to make matters even worse, secularists have worked tirelessly to eradicate the Bible from society, resulting in our poor younger generation having no anchor of truth to hang on to! They are like ships lost at sea, “driven of the wind and tossed”! (James 1:6)
.
And so, the resulting hopelessness is causing young and even many older persons to literally suffer various forms of madness, often resulting in some deed with tragic consequences!

VALLEY OF DRY BONES
.
Well, let’s turn our attention on Ezekiel 37 for a moment… “Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live. ” Ezekiel 37:9-11
.
Now here we have one of the most notable and dramatic chapters in the Bible.

And in this above passage, this “son of man” was commanded to prophesy to the winds… “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.”

THE CHURCH: THE COMMONWEALTH of ISRAEL
Ephesians 2:12

But how does this apply to the Church in these last days? After all, the Church, made up of both Jew and Gentile, is now considered to be “the whole house of Israel” (Ezekiel 37:11 & 39:25)
.

THE END OF THE CHURCH ERA
.
Well, first of all, let’s spend a moment looking at the current condition of God’s people today…
.
Listen…“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 2nd Timothy 4:3, 4
.
Here, Paul foretold of the day in which the Church would be overrun by look-alike false teachings which would appeal to the carnal heart.

And this website has article after article highlighting the many abominations which have entered into every quarter of today’s church-world!

So how does all this relate to these verses concerning the four winds and the sealing of God’s servants in their forehead?

WISE VIRGINS
.
Well, to put it briefly, it is those who have been hiding God’s Word in their foreheads (in their hearts & minds), who are the very ones to be sealed.
.
These are the “wise virgins”, spoken of in Matthew 25.

THE VALLEY OF DRY BONES
.
And so, these wise, yet sleeping virgins, are the valley of dry bones, which are prophesied of, to be resurrected in these last moments of earth’s history. They are the whole house of Israel as James puts it…“the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad” James 1:1. And from reading the Book of James, it is obvious that he is writing to the Church, which he refers to as the “Twelve Tribes.”
.
And so, in these last days, Jesus, the “Son of Man”, represented by the prophet, Ezekiel, will prophesy, causing the whole house of Israel, both Jew and Gentile, to come to life, to stand as God’s army.

DETAILS ARE YET UNKNOWN

Now just exactly how all this will play out, nobody knows for sure, except Heaven itself.

But it will play out! Make no mistake about that! And God’s people will come from the four winds, from every quarter and from every false gospel and ideology which has held them in apostasy and spiritual bondage, and they will awaken to go forth to meet the Bridegroom!

“REDEEMING THE TIME”

And for those of us who have been derelict and apostate in the past, we must use our remaining time, hiding God’s Word in our hearts. There is no time left to dilly-dally. We need to get down to business.

This above verse from Revelation 7:1, speaks of, not only four literal angels, but of all God’s people!
.
In other words, His true worshipers, numbered also with those “four angels”, are crying out to Heaven each and every day for God to hold back the winds to allow more precious hours for His salvation and sanctification to be fully accomplished in the world, so that all may receive God’s seal in their foreheads (that is, in their hearts & minds)!
.
So, let’s keep pleading for His continued grace, mercy, and peace to be abundantly shed upon all, before those four winds blow with such a great and dreadful, cyclonic force!

THE NARROW GATE STARS
.
This can even be observed into June in the western sky (for a short time just after dark). While a dark night is best for seeing the Woman Constellation, the 4 stars which comprise the Narrow Gate/Wide Gate Stars can be seen even under mediocre conditions. It begins with the Fleeing Woman of Revelation 12 Constellation (AKA Ursa Major) going towards these two doors.
.
The sketch to left shows, the two doors are each composed of two bright stars. The two bright stars that comprise the Narrow Gate are the two brightest stars of the Orion the Reaper’s sickle. The two stars that comprise the ‘Wide Gate’ Stars are the two brightest stars of the wave of water that comes out of the Dragon Constellation’s mouth (for explanation of “Wave of Water”, just click here). The stars that make up the ‘Narrow Gate’ are about half the width of the Wide Gate (see sketch to left).

WIDE & NARROW GATES IN THE HEAVENS

As the opening verse says, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7:13-14
