Part 5:

The 3-Minute Sermon & The Benefits of Keeping One Day, ‘Holy’

A man called up a Christian talk show and told of his popular website which featured 3-minute sermonettes.

.

Now this may be a very good idea. Three minute sermons.

.

But is it enough for a Christian to survive on?

.

THE ONE-DAY “SABBATH”?

.

Back in earlier times, the vast consensus in Christendom was that one day each week was to be the Sunday Sabbath-Day. And on that day, Christians were to engage in spiritual activities.

.

But slowly on, the Sunday Sabbath day began to lose its sacredness.

.

**And as those years passed, the Sunday Sabbath was mostly regarded as, “The Lord’s Day”.**

.

And consequently, the idea, that Christians were to keep that day holy, began to fade from the minds of the people. And the churches no longer warned parishioners that the Sunday Sabbath must be kept holy.

BECAME A SECULARIZED DAY

.

And eventually, instead of spending the day in Bible study and contemplation, Christians began to spend their after-church hours watching football, enjoying social get-togethers, and engaging in other types of recreation, or just doing everyday household chores.

.

And with the advent of television, radio, and now Internet, even the weekday hours are also pretty much filled up.

THE GOD OF THIS WORLD KEEPS US BUSY

Well of course, it’s no accident that this society is busy, busy, busy! After all, the Bible warns…“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. For as a snare shall it come on all them, that dwell on the face of the whole earth.” Luke 21:34, 35

And so, in the very day that Christians should be the most watchful, the Devil has been busy himself, dreaming up new ways to keep us so preoccupied with worldly matters, that every day of the week has become dedicated to the world!

.

Yes, seven out of seven days are now filled up with seeking the cares and pleasures, eating and drinking, buying and selling, to the point that Christians must resort to 3-minute sermons!

.

THE SPIRITUALLY STARVED

.

Now those who do attempt to merely feed themselves with such a meager spiritual diet, are like trying to survive on a diet of saltine crackers!

.

In other words, it won’t be long until that churchgoer spiritually starves!

.

SABBATH BLESSING

.

Now, there can be a great blessing for those who decide to keep the Sabbath holy, reserving it for Bible study, and prayer.

.

And for those who have children and must work and take care of many duties, to reserve that one day for nothing but spiritual refreshment, might be a terrific blessing for both parents and for the children too! And as we strive to make their everyday life breezy and joy-filled, they will likewise come to love God’s everlasting “rest unto your souls”! (See Matthew 11:28-30)

SABBATH NOT TO REPLACE DAILY WORSHIP

.

But just one word of caution! Don’t think that by keeping one day holy, this somehow relieves the Christian from engaging in Bible study, unceasing prayer, and Bible contemplation the other 6 days!

.

No, the Christian must finally come to the point of forsaking all to follow Jesus. Yes, all the worldly ambitions must go! And those hours of television, Internet, computer games, sports, clubs, time-consuming hobbies, and every other needless worldly endeavor must be prayerfully considered for the trash heap, so that the Christian can serve one God only. Yes, that’s right! When we put our Salvation on the proverbial backburner, engaging in worldly cares and pleasures, are we not in essence, serving Baal, “the god of this world”? (2nd Corinthians 4:4)

.

“O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day!”

Psalm 119:97

.

Listen to the Word of the Lord…

“And these words, which I command thee this day,

shall be in thine heart:

And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children,

and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house,

and when thou walkest by the way,

and when thou liest down,

and when thou risest up.

And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand,

and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes.

And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house,

and on thy gates.”

Deuteronomy 6:6-9

.

**This passage reveals the true “rest unto your souls”: a rest which “remaineth unto the people of God”…a 24/7/365 prayerful contemplation of God’s Word!**

PEACE THAT PASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING

.

And don’t think that God will bless our one-day-per-week Sabbath, if we are still serving our worldly gods the other six days! No, holiness, true holiness is not some “holy water faucet”, that we can turn off and turn on, at will!

.

But just the opposite, our waters of grace should flow freely each and every day of the week! 24/7/365!

.

That’s the only way to have the, “peace that surpasses all understanding“. That’s the only means of achieving, “perfect peace”! (see Philippians 4:7 & Isaiah 26:3)

.

THE HOLY GHOST RIDER CONSTELLATION

.

This newest Signs Of Heaven Constellation (Fall, 2013) is by far the faintest of constellations, but is a very incredible and awesome one in a number of ways (which this article will explain).

.

It is primarily comprised of the Camelopardalis Constellation (head and upper back), plus about 5 stars from the Cassiopeia Constellation (his leg), plus some random stars. It appears as an outline of a rider. Only the back of his head is detailed. And his back and the back of his legs are also detailed. Both sides of his arm are visible, and his hand is gripping the horses mane, and that is detailed by three stars (which are also part of the horse’s mane). The rider is in a position vaguely similar to a race-horse jockey. The two brightest stars in this constellation, are from the Cassiopeia Constellation, and are part of his leg. All the rest of the stars are very faint, and must be viewed on a very starry night.

.

Since this constellation has just been revealed, there may be more to this constellation in the coming months. But if you can locate the Goodly Horse in Battle Constellation, then you shouldn’t have too much trouble locating this Rider Constellation, provided you have excellent star-watching conditions.

THIS STAR-CHART: This is a Wikipedia star-chart, in which this site’s editor has sketched in these three constellation (without the Holy-Ghost-Rider Constellation). Notice how the right front hoof is trampling on the tail of the Dragon. Also notice his eye is a star.It’s best seen when in the western half of the sky. It is found in mid-sky traveling from east to west. In January, it is in the west after midnight. As winter progresses, it can be seen earlier and earlier in the evening. a dark sky with good star-visibility is best, but not absolutely necessary to see this constellation. It is found on the opposite side of the Dragon Constellation from Orion. And as already stated, this Goodly Horse Constellation can be seen best in mid-winter when it is in the western side of the sky, and you are looking at it while you are facing west. The nose and head of this horse is partly made from the Perseus Constellation. The tail and rear end is partly of the Cassiopeia Constellation. The hind-leg is made partly of stars from the Andromeda Constellation.
