CITY OF CONFUSION
.
Babylon was given its name during the building of that infamous Tower of Babylon, because God
confused their speech…
.
Listen… “Therefore is the name of it called Babel;
because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth:
and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad
upon the face of all the earth.”
Genesis 11:9
.
And so, the name, Babylon, actually means, “City of Confusion”.

“COME OUT OF HER MY PEOPLE”
.
The Bible pronounces a curse upon all those who refuse to, “Come out of Her (Babylon) My people!”
.
And the reader is encouraged to click on and begin reading this series of devotionals called “Come Out of Her, My People”, to gain a full understanding of just why God considers today’s churches to be spiritual Babylon.
.
Yes, upon all those who refuse to join the Exodus out of this “City of Confusion”, the apostate churches, the following sentence is pronounced… “Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.”

BABYLONISH HOLIDAYS
.
In the December 26 devotional (click here), this pagan holiday called Christmas, was focused on, and what our proper response should be to this totally unbiblical holiday.
.
Now in years past, God has winked at this man-made addition to His Word. And certainly, the man of God, or the woman of God has no desire to, “rain on the parade” of others, as the saying goes.
.
The last thing we want to do is spoil the celebration of others, even if it is unbiblical!
.

“COME OUT OF HER, MY PEOPLE!”
.
But in response to God’s command to, “Come out of her (Babylon, the 
apostate churches) My people…”, Christians must come all the way out of spiritual Babylon!
.
God is not a compromiser with paganism and worldly philosophies.
.
And though “this ignorance God winked at” in past decades, the time to come out of Babylon has fully arrived!
(see Acts 17:30 regarding God winking at our ignorance)

“ANOTHER JESUS”
.
One thing to keep in mind is the verse from Psalms 35:9… “verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity (worthless). Selah.“
.
Yes, there is nothing that Mankind can do that will enhance the effectiveness of the Gospel!
.
And so, for us to think that man-made holidays will somehow be a benefit to the Salvation of the Lost, is anti-biblical thinking.
.

“THE WICKED DOTH ENCOMPASS ABOUT THE RIGHTEOUS”
Habakkuk 1:4
.
Oh yes, such holidays as Christmas and Easter may bring people into the Church.
.
But the fact is, these holidays have an appeal to unconverted minds.
.
And so, as we look out across the Christian landscape, it is easily seen that the Church has, over the past decades, filled up with Antichrists, who have, “crept in unawares”! (see Jude 1:4)
.

“ADD THOU NOT!”
.
Listen to the pure Word of Truth…
“Every word of God is pure:
He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him.
Add thou not unto His words,
lest He reprove thee,
and thou be found a liar.”
Proverbs 30:5, 6
.
Those who truly fear God and put their trust in Him, will tremble at the thought of adding anything to His Word!
.
And frankly, these Babylonian “holy-days” are an addition to His Word, no matter how hard the worldly-portion-of-the-Church tries to deny it!
.
.

.
IMPOSSIBLE TO DO GOOD!
.
And so, this notion that we can somehow turn these unbiblical holidays into a blessing, by witnessing to this lost world during these times, is to deny God’s Word which tells us that, “Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one!” Job 14:4.
.
In other words, these holidays are an integral part of this wicked world, and God will not bless the works of men.
.
On the other hand, a true worshiper of God never should miss an opportunity to warn the world of the nearness of the end, and of the gift of everlasting life which Jesus offers to all.

ABRAHAM’S PRESUMPTUOUS SIN
.
Listen… “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
There is none that understandeth,
there is none that seeketh after God.
They are all gone out of the way,
they are together become unprofitable;
there is none that doeth good, no, not one.”
Romans 3:10-12
.
This holiday called Christmas was designed by the apostate churches of early Europe as a means of attracting the pagan world into those fallen churches.
.
Therefore, to think that these non-biblical holidays could be a benefit to God’s truth is akin to Abraham and Sarah thinking that they could “help God out”, by having a child through that Egyptian woman, Hagar!
.

But be warned!
.
Those who take a stand against the world’s idols will be mocked, derided, and accused by the world, as well as by the worldly church!
.

“EVEN A FOOL…IS COUNTED WISE…”
.
Well, one thing is for sure! Silence is usually the best course to take, when we are unsure about what to do in these situations!
.
And let’s remember, it is usually the “unlearned and unstable” who make the loudest objection against these unbiblical holidays!
.
And also, we certainly don’t want to make an untrue statement about how we feel about this or that thing or event or person. So, silence is usually the safest way to handle difficult situations…
.
Listen…“Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.” Proverbs 17:28
.
Therefore, considering this above verse from Proverbs, let’s not be like Mr. Ignorance here in this sketch from Pilgrim’s Progress! Don’t be spouting off our foolishness, as he is doing with the two pilgrims!
.

FLEE TO MOUNT SION

So, in conclusion, it is no wonder that God refers to today’s church-world as Mystery Babylon.
.
It is filled with error and confusion, but so close to truth, that it becomes difficult to discern the error.
.
And these Babylonish holidays and their proud stiff-necked advocates who defend them, make things even more confusing for dedicated Christians!
.
And God is now calling His people to come out of this City of Confusion, and flee to the spiritual Mount Sion, to take their stand with all those who, “follow the Lamb withersoever He goeth.” Revelation 14:4
.

A TIME TO BRIGHTEN UP THE LIVES OF OTHERS
.
But remember, every day of the year is an excellent time to just exercise Christian silence and allow the family to have a joyful time during that month-long celebration and every other day too!
.
As a matter of fact, these holidays can provide an excellent opportunity to enjoy your time with your family, and even bring some joy into the life of a lonely person!
.
