One of the great lies of Satan, is that the life of the Christian is a heavy burden!
.
Or that the life of the Christian is austere and bleak!
.
Of course, neither of these lies are true!
.
Jesus said… “Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
.
Now either Jesus is lying in this above passage or the Devil is lying, saying Christ’s yoke is heavy. And of course, “it is impossible for God to lie” (Hebrews 6:18). So it must be that “Father of Lies”, the Devil who is lying about Christ’s yoke.

LIFE ETERNAL: TO KNOW ME!

The fact is, the Lord is not asking us to do some horrendous feat, to win Heaven. No, all He wants is for us to get to know Him and understand the Lord, as is written…

“And this is life eternal, that they might know Thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent…Sanctify them through Thy truth: Thy Word is truth.” John 17:3, 17

A LIFE OF HEARING
AND PRAYING!

Yes, the Christian life can be lived and victory gained, even by those who are physically weak, bed-fast, or incarcerated!

As a matter of fact, those who are bed-fast or incarcerated may have an advantage over those who are quick and strong on their feet.

And why in the world would the bed-fast and incarcerated have an advantage?

OVERCHARGED WITH THE WORLD
.
You see, those who are full of energy and full of projects, quite often live a life of fulfilling earthly obligations and self-imposed projects, often to the bankruptcy of their own soul!

They love to keep busy with physical efforts in one or with many duties and projects. Their minds are mostly fixated upon the things of the world!
.
And yet, those who lack physical energy or are bed-fast or incarcerated in some way, may use their down-time to their spiritual advantage!

AUDIO BIBLES
.
And with the invention of portable listening devices, it may now be possible to fill their hearts with God’s Word, via the many audio Bibles now available.

Yes, nowadays one can listen to the Psalms, the Gospels, the epistles, and every other part of the Bible for hour upon hour, in their horizontal position! And they can also pray while lying down.
.
Listen to Psalms 63:6…“When I remember Thee upon my bed, and meditate on Thee in the night watches.”

This is the beauty of Christianity! It is not just for the Apostle Pauls of the world, who travel many miles to do the work of the Lord!

CHRISTIANITY FOR BUSY ONES TOO!

But for those who are bound up with many duties, all is not hopeless!

No, there is much that these busy ones can do to enhance their spiritual life!

AN EASY YOKE & LIGHT BURDEN

This is the easy yoke which God places on His followers. Just get to know God, and His precious promises!

That’s all!

Oh yes, there will be many opportunities to witness to others, either by Word or by deed.

But the main thing is to fill up the heart with God’s precious promises, shunning the ungodly and worldly influences we once loved!

THE VICTORIOUS LIFE
.
So, regardless of how we fight our Good Fight, either horizontally or vertically, we can be victorious and valiant and fully armored soldiers in the Lord’s Army!

“I AM THE GOOD SHEPHERD”

“I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” John 10:11
.
By the infallible pen of Divine inspiration, God has forever connected Himself with the concept of a shepherd with his sheep. The above verse from John’s Gospel portrays Jesus as the Good Shepherd. With His sacrifice on the Cross, Jesus truly fulfilled the above prophecy, giving His life for His lost sheep.

LOVE STORY IN THE STARS
.
But Scripture isn’t the only place where God has presented this concept of the Good Shepherd, Jesus. God has written His heavenly love story in the Sun, Moon, and Stars, as well, as is written… “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the Earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;” Luke 21:25. And these Signs Of Heaven are a second witness to what the Bible declares.

ORION THE GOOD SHEPHERD
.
And this concept of the Good Shepherd is portrayed in the night sky, in this 5th personality of the Orion Constellation (see “The Orion Phenomena”). And it is a concept which the Lord would have His own people learn and live. God’s people are likewise to become good shepherds too, in our own little sphere. That is, we are to seek and to save the lost, just as we see our Lord doing so. This is part of what it means to follow Jesus. We become imitators of our Lord, the true Good Shepherd.

ORION, THE GOOD SHEPHERD

This star-chart from Wikipedia, has Orion sketched in by the editor of this website. With the addition of a single star, Theta Geminorum (the left hand of the Castor twin of Gemini), the sickle in Orion, the Reaper’s hand (sketch to left), now extends the blade, thus transforming that sickle into the hook of a shepherd’s rod and staff. And so now this little Gemini star becomes the tip of Orion’s Shepherd’s rod & staff. Thus with this additional star, Orion the Reaper Constellation now becomes the 5th personality of Orion: The Good Shepherd (sketch below right). Theta Geminorum is a class A3, 4th magnitude star, which means it is much fainter than either of the stars, Castor or Pollux. But faint as This little star may be, it nevertheless presents a giant concept, turning Orion’s sickle into a shepherd’s rod. And this is a very wonderful and beautiful Bible truth: namely, that Jesus is the Good Shepherd, as is written…

“As a shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out My sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day.” Ezekiel 34:12

And so God has placed this Starry Shepherd in the winter-night heavens to remind us of His great love for a planet which has wandered away: just like sheep that wandered to where the grass looked greener.
