Look Up, Lift Up Your Heads,

.

“Nightly News!”

“And the third angel poured out his vial

upon the rivers and fountains of waters;

and they became blood…

and Thou hast given them blood to drink;

for they are worthy.”

Revelation 16:4-6 (Condensed)

So just what does this above Bible passage from Revelation have to do with the nightly news?

.

THE BLOODY WATERS OF TODAY’S MEDIA

.

Well, just take a look at what’s going on today on the nightly news!

.

Just look at the various shows on TV! Blood, blood, blood!!!

.

Yes, television is literally overflowing with violence and blood!

.

This world is getting so violent and bloody!

.

**And to whatever degree that we Christians and our children are content to spend time watching television and/or daily news…**

.

…are we not drinking in violence and blood that we see and hear, to that same degree?

.

Yes, just as God gave those Egyptians bloody waters to drink, so too, we Christians today are drinking in blood whenever we turn on the evening news, it seems!

“I WILL SET NO WICKED THING BEFORE MINE EYES!”

.

Listen to the testimony of the Psalmist…

“I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.

I WILL SET NO WICKED THING BEFORE MINE EYES.

I hate the work of them that turn aside;

it shall not cleave to me.

A froward heart shall depart from me:

I WILL NOT KNOW A WICKED PERSON.

Whoso privily slanders his neighbour, him will I cut off:

him that hath an high look and a proud heart will not I suffer.”

Psalm 101:2-5

.

Everything mentioned in this above passage sounds like your average TV show, doesn’t it?

.

Wickedness in various forms, turning away from the True Path, froward (evil) hearts, evil people, slanderous remarks, and pride: these are just a short-list of the countless evils seen on daily television!

.

And the nightly news is no exception!

.

TV: The Ultimate Mind-Control Device

.

“He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.”

Psalm 101:7

.

And this same Psalm 101 adds this above verse to what Christians should avoid: lies and deceit!

.

Yes, so much of today’s news is filled with lies and deceit!

.

And as the political civil war increases in western society, the vitriolic animosity against keeps rising on a daily basis.

.

And because the mass media news has devolved into partisan war-machines, spewing biased opinions, hate-filled slanderous smear-tactics, half-truths and abject lies.

.

Today’s news agencies have devolved into a level of “yellow journalism” that might even cause that iconic yellow journalist, William Randolph Hearst to “roll over in his grave”, to use a crude saying.

.

THE HEARING OF BLOOD

.

Listen to this prophecy concerning the days we are now in…

“Who among us shall dwell with the Devouring Fire?

who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?

He that walks righteously, and speaks uprightly;

he…THAT STOPS HIS EAR FROM HEARING OF BLOOD,

and shuts his eyes from seeing evil;”

Isaiah 33:14, 15

.

Do you see the connection here?

.

This above passage seems to be speaking of the daily television/Internet lineup of programs!

.

And isn’t it true that television/Internet news is very greatly focused on all the bloody conflicts around the world?

.

All the disease? All the slander? All the adultery? All the greed? All the hate and revenge? All the pride and bigotry and racism?

.

Yes, all these evils are a form of violence!

.

And they are the very focus of TV news!

.

**And so, dear stranger and pilgrim, just when, oh when will we finally say, “Enough is enough”, and turn off all these channels of sin and violence, and quit drinking in all that blood?**

.

“And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.”

Luke 21:28

.

We have such a wonderful and joyful commission from God!

.

Yes, to look up and fix our gaze upon our Lord and Savior, and Friend, Jesus Christ is our true Great Commission!

.

And all this is made possible and enjoyable by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit of Christ!

.

And it is high time to look up and lift up our heads on high, to behold our soon-coming Savior, who will save us out of all this selfishness, sorrow, death and mourning which is what this present dark world is all about!

.

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee.” Isaiah 26:3
