Crocodile Love,

In yesterday’s devotional, it was put forth that crocodiles will tenderly carry their babies to safety in the same deadly jaws with which they would joyfully eat you or me! And so, the conclusion was made that we humans are capable of that same level of “crocodile love”.

HUMANS TO HAVE A HIGHER LOVE?
.
But how about God’s people? Our love should be much higher than that! After all, we profess to be filled with God’s Spirit of agape love! We are followers of Jesus!
.
Listen… “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith;
that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
May be able to comprehend with all saints
what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge,
that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.”
Ephesians 3:17-19
.
WOW! If you think about this passage, it really promises us a whole lot more love, if we desire!

VENGEANCE IS MINE, SAITH THE LORD!
Romans 12:9.
“And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.” Luke 6:29
.
And yet, when the nation of Israel strikes back at its enemies, we rejoice! Is that the agape love of Jesus? Shouldn’t we rather encourage Israel to behave the same way that Jesus behaved, when He was attacked by His enemies?
.
In essence, are we not wanting Israel to live by Old Testament justice, by striking back at its enemies?
.
Now, if only those Jews over there in Palestine would humble themselves before God in true repentance, then maybe God might deliver them from their present-day foes as He did in Old Testament times!
.
The problem is that our teachers are misguiding us into believing that the semi-barren real estate over there in Palestine is the Promised Land, when in fact, nothing could be further from the truth!

DAVID, OUR KING FOREVER!?!
.
The Promised Land which God promised Israel is the same Promised Land He has promised us Christians!
.
Listen… “And David (Christ) my servant shall be King over them;
and they all shall have one Shepherd…
And they shall dwell in the land…for ever:
and My servant David (Christ) shall be their prince for ever.
Moreover I will make…an everlasting covenant with them…
I will be their God, and they shall be My people.
And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do sanctify Israel,
when My sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for evermore.”
Ezekiel 37:24-28
.
Now this promise to Israel is not speaking of that dry and thirsty land over there in Palestine! No, it is speaking of God’s everlasting kingdom! The temple spoken of here is an everlasting temple! And “David” is Old Testament veiled, allegorical language, referring to Jesus.
.
David is not going to be our Prince and King for ever!
.
But Jesus is!

BIBLE: A BOOK OF TYPES AND SHADOWS
.
What we too easily forget is, that the Bible is a spiritual book, and must be spiritually discerned.
.
Listen… “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:
for they are foolishness unto him:
neither can he know them,
because they are spiritually discerned.”
1st Corinthians 2:14.
.
The problem is that we have become carnally-minded in these last days, and have forgotten that the Old Testament is merely the Gospel of Jesus, veiled in types and shadows.
.
David, though a literal Old Testament king, was used by God to be a type and symbol of Christ, our true King! And the temple was used by God to be a type and foreshadow of God and His people, the true temple of God. And Israel represents all of us who belong to the “Commonwealth of Israel”, both Jew and Gentile alike! Ephesians 2:12
.

THE TRUE TEMPLE OF THE LORD
.
Listen… “Jesus answered and said unto them,
Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up!
Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building,
and wilt Thou rear it up in three days?
But He spake of the temple of His body.”
John 2:19-21
.
Yes, there are many today, who erroneously teach that a literal temple will be rebuilt, in which literal Jews will once again return to a literal sacrificial system, and that God will smile down on all this!
.
But the truth is, that the only temple which will ever be called, the Temple of God, is a spiritual temple!
.
Listen… “And I saw a new Heaven and a new earth:
for the first Heaven and the first earth were passed away;
and there was no more sea.
And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem,
coming down from God out of heaven,
prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
And I saw no temple therein:
for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.”
Revelation 21:1, 2.

So, the New Jerusalem will only have the temple of the Lord, which is a spiritual temple, made up of both God, and all His Redeemed, Jew and Gentile alike!

EARTH: SOON TO BE BURNED UP!
.
What today’s teachers are not considering, is that this present earth is reserved for fire against the Day of Judgment.
.
Listen… “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night;
in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise,
and the elements shall melt with fervent heat,
the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved,
what manner of persons ought ye to be
in all holy conversation and godliness,
Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God,
wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved,
and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?”
1st Peter 3:10, 11
.
Does this passage sound as if we are soon to enter a thousand years of peace here on earth? Absolutely not! We need to re-adjust our prophecy time-charts, and begin to warn Humanity that the true global warming will be soon coming, and not a thousand years away!

PROMISED LAND AWAITS
.
And we need to loudly but lovingly warn those who try to deceive Jews into thinking that they have a special commission from God to annihilate their enemies! No, instead of deceiving them, we must instead tell them that Jesus Christ is their only hope!
.
And then we need to prayerfully tell them that this world is going to soon burn with fire! And finally, we need to tell them that the true Promised Land awaits all who forsake this present world, and begin that upward sojourn out of this miserable crocodile-love world, and into that heavenly Promised Land, in the New Jerusalem above!
