THIS IS A CONTINUATION OF YESTERDAY’S DEVOTIONAL (click here)

TABLES WERE TURNED ON THE PHARISEES

.

You see, Jesus was telling this parable to those covetous Pharisees…

.

**…consequently, Jesus was turning the tables on those Pharisees…**

.

…by having the rich man in Hell, while the poor, sick, Lazarus in the blissfulness in Heaven!

.

This was just the opposite of what those misguided Pharisees believed.

.

Yes, the Bible reveals that, “…the Pharisees…were covetous,” Luke 16:15.

.

And so, the prosperity-driven gospel was alive and well, all the way back in Jesus’ days on Earth.

.

Paul warns of “gain is godliness” gospels

.

Now listen to Paul’s commentary on the current prosperity-driven gospels of this very day in which we now live,

“…Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds…

supposing that gain is godliness:

from such withdraw thyself.

But godliness with contentment is great gain…”

1st Timothy 6:5-8 (Condensed)

.

Paul makes a clear and concise declaration in this above passage.

.

And this is perhaps, the most ignored passage by many, or perhaps, most New Testament Christians today!

COLD, HEARTLESS PHARISAISM

.

And so, it is no wonder that the very progenitor of that false doctrine of “Eternal Torment”, PHARISEEISM, is still thriving in today’s church-world!

.

And just like those Pharisees of old, today’s Pharisees look down, with a scornful eye, upon everyone they imagine to be below themselves…

.

…scorning many street-persons who, by the way, just might even be considered by Heaven, as a modern-day Lazarus!

.

“But a certain Samaritan…came where he (the robbed & beaten stranger) was: and…he had compassion on him…”

Luke 10:33

.

Yes, there may be many who faithfully attend church each week, and yet, look scornfully down on those beggars, drunkards, and misfits…

.

…often lying helpless in the streets, begging for a mere pittance from passersby, saying to ourselves…“They’re only getting what their bad decision-making deserves!”

.

These modern-day pharisees do not consider that Satan is “the god of this world” 2nd Corinthians 4:4

.

And why Satan gives to one man, riches while giving another only poverty and suffering, only the Great Day of Final Reckoning will reveal!

SUFFERING MAY COME

.

The fact is, many of those who insist on the unbiblical church-doctrine of “Eternal Torment” are quite often in good health and have never experienced prolonged periods of intense suffering.

.

Because, if we did experience such intense suffering…

.

…perhaps we wouldn’t be so quick to enthusiastically endorse this archaic old catholic church-doctrine (which even many Catholics may no longer believe, by the way)!

.

GOOD NEWS! NO NEED TO WAIT!

.

The Good News is that we don’t necessarily have to wait to get sick and suffer, to understand and empathize with what others are going through!

.

Listen…“Put on therefore,

as the elect of God, holy and beloved,

bowels of mercies,

kindness,

humbleness of mind,

meekness,

longsuffering“

Colossians 3:12

.

Yes, the hour is come when God’s people are to flee from the cold, heartless and judgmental pharisaism which pervades today’s church-world and even pervades our own heart, too!

.

And peradventure, should the Lord finally deliver us from that Antichrist spirit of cold and indifferent pharisaism…

.

…we may then begin to wake up to finally realize that this whole business of Eternal Torment is utter nonsense…

.

…a devil-designed doctrine merely to repel and repulse inquiring candidates for Salvation!

“THE SCORNER (THE PHARISEE)”

Please tilt your head to the left. Do you see a man with a very long pointed nose?

Do you see an angry look? His right eyebrow is raised as if he is judging.

This second face in the Moon appears to be that of a combination of a man as well as a fox.

Or maybe a wolf.

Doesn’t he have a long narrow nose like a wolf or fox?

Maybe even a dog.

Nevertheless, the expression on his face, as he appears to look down upon the Earth, is that of scorn.

As if he is disgusted at the sinful planet below.
