Strong Delusion in Scripture

.

Part 12:

“Does God Approve of Slavery”

.

“…because they received not the love of the truth…

God shall send them strong delusion,

that they should believe a lie:

That they all might be damned

who believed not the truth,

but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”

2nd Thessalonians 2:10-12

.

There is a preacher who regularly goes to college campuses to share the Gospel and make sense with students.

.

And the YouTube videos are amazing to watch partly because today’s college educated young people have so been so thoroughly indoctrinated into atheism, that it is next to impossible to make sense with them.

.

Nevertheless, this preacher uses his nearly five decades of experience to make his extremely powerful case for the existence of God and the Gospel of Jesus.

.

Now, one of the most popular arguments against the God of the Bible is that “Why would a good God ever endorse slavery as frequently found in the Christian Bible?”

.

“…because they received not the love of the truth…God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:”

.

What most people do not realize is the supernatural nature of the Bible.

.

It has been purposely written to either save or condemn!

.

And so, God has written the Bible in such a way, that it reveals to each person whatever is the ruling force within each particular individual.

.

Listen to David… “With the merciful Thou wilt show Thyself merciful;

with an upright man Thou wilt show Thyself upright;

With the pure Thou wilt show Thyself pure;

and with the froward Thou wilt show Thyself froward.”

Psalm 18:25, 26.

As this above passage reveals, the Bible will be interpreted rightly by those whose heart is right, but wrongly by those whose heart is NOT right.

And the issue of slavery is one of those Bible topics which critics love to use as an argument against the God of the Bible. Yet, these critics do not realize that they have been deceived.

.

First, Bible scholars point out that slavery, back in those days, was often used as a means of paying back debts or securing employment food and housing.

.

Second, the whole Bible is anti-slavery, beginning with Exodus and the freeing of the Hebrews from 400 years of Egyptian captivity in which they were forced to build the pyramids and other structures.

.

Third, the Bible gives advice to servants and masters, which is designed to translate into practical advice to Christian employees and employers.

.

Finally, the Bible speaks of Christians as follows1Co_7:22 For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord’s freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ’s servant.

.

And, as far as God’s advice to Christians who are actual slaves, the following verse applies…1Co_7:21 Art thou called being a servant? care not for it: but if thou mayest be made free, use it rather.

.

THE CARNALLY-MINDED

.

No, listen to Paul as he explains the core of the problem here…

…”But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:

for they are foolishness unto him:

neither can he know them,

because they are spiritually discerned.”

1st Corinthians 2:13, 14

.

As this above verse reveals, there are many who are yet carnally-minded, and to a great extent, desire to believe that spiritual interpretations are foolishness.

DOUBLE-EDGED SWORD

There are many other pitfalls in the Bible, which those who have not yet received gift of God’s Spirit, will stumble and fall into!

.

Listen to this next fearful passage…

...”For the Word of God is quick, and powerful,

and sharper than any two-edged sword,

piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit,

and of the joints and marrow,

and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

Hebrews 4:12, 13

.

So here is a very incredible passage which reveals the double-sided truth of the Bible!

Yes, the Bible reveals which spirit controls a person’s heart!

.

Those who are of an Antichrist spirit will, “stumble at the Word, being disobedient”. 1st Peter 2:8

.

But those who are spiritually-minded will delight to discover that, “the truth shall make you free”. John 8:32

.
