Daily Devotional – December 2

Revelation 12 Woman:

.

“From Fleeing To Flying!”

.

“And there appeared a great wonder in heaven;

a woman…travailing in birth…

And there appeared another wonder in heaven;

and behold a great red dragon…

And the woman fled into the wilderness…

And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle,

that she might fly into the wilderness…

from the face of the serpent.

And the serpent cast out of his mouth

water as a flood after the woman,”

Revelation 12:1-3, 6, 14

.

Can you believe it?

.

This entire passage above, from Revelation 12, is pictured in the sky!

.

Listen to it again…

Yes, this entire passage has been inscribed by Almighty God in the night heavens!

.

And God has created a motion picture of sorts right up there in the heavens!

THE URSA MAJOR ‘MOTION PICTURE’ IN THE HEAVENS

.

You see, in the spring, if you look to the north, the constellation commonly known as Ursa Major actually looks like a headless woman who is with child.

.

And yet, as summer turns to fall, and fall turns to winter, this constellation slowly rotates until it is upside-down, now appearing as a running woman with upraised arms.

.

But as winter progresses, this running woman slowly begins to lean forward until she appears to be flying: flying westward.

THE REVELATION 12 DRAGON

.

But what about this serpent or dragon spewing water as a flood after the woman. Well, that’s up there too, in the constellations Hyades (the dragon’s mouth), Auriga (the wave of water coming out of his mouth), Pleiades, (his tail tassel), and Cetus (his back leg and fin).

.

And so, here is a heavenly picture of Revelation 12, which develops through the entire year as the world rotates in such a way to make this phenomenon play itself out to display the Revelation 12 scenario!

.

And there’s more to all this as well. But that’s for another devotional.

“THEY SHALL MOUNT UP WITH WINGS…”

.

But the focus of today’s devotional is all about this woman with wings as an eagle.

.

Listen to Isaiah 40:31…

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength;

they shall mount up with wings as eagles;

they shall run, and not be weary;

and they shall walk, and not faint.”

.

Here we have an explanation of both Revelation 12:14 as well as of this Revelation 12 Woman Constellation (aka Ursa Major) They, all three, are depicting God’s people as they mount up with wings as eagles!

“NO…REST IN MY BONES BECAUSE OF MY SIN”

Psalm 38:3

.

But the sad fact is, not too many of us feel as though we have wings as eagles, do we?

.

Well, if you are like the rest of us, then you can more identify with a fly as it flees from some giant fly-swatter!

.

Or maybe you feel like you’ve been caught in a giant spider’s web!

.

Or perhaps you feel like you been stuck in the mud, spinning your wheels in a futile effort to get yourself free!

.

In other words, we keep falling into our same old sins: gluttony and incontinence of one type or another, or a host of other similar sins!

.

Or maybe even suffering from some debilitating illness.

.

Well, you’re not alone!

.

We’re all, more or less, in the same predicament!

.

“LET US SEARCH AND TRY OUR WAYS, AND TURN AGAIN TO THE LORD”

Lamentations 3:40

Yes, you are not alone!

.

Nevertheless, we have many great and precious promises in Scripture which assure us, that if we will just hang in there, and not give up nor murmur against God, we will eventually get the victory!

.

You see, God is inoculating us against sin: our besetting sins.

.

Listen to the Wise Man, Solomon…“The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways:” Proverbs 14:14

.

Yes, just as God gave the children of Israel 30 days of their favorite flesh food until they became thoroughly sick of it, God is giving us our fill of our so-called “little” sins until the day comes that we absolutely want no more of those besetting sins.

“HE BROUGHT ME UP…OUT OF THE MIRY CLAY”

Psalm 40:2

.

But the day is soon coming in which God will pluck us out of the miry pit, and set our feet upon a Rock, and put a new song in our mouth, even praise to our God! (See Psalm 40:3)

.

And on that day, it will seem as if we now have those much-anticipated wings as eagles!

.

And on that glorious day, we will wing our way into the narrow gate which will forever seal our victory over the sin, self, and Satan!

“HE (GOD) SHALL SIT AS A PURIFIER OF…GOLD”

Malachi 3:3

.

And so, O tried and sorely tempted one. Do not get disheartened over your present trials and sufferings. It’s only for a little while longer that we must allow God to purify us, even as silver and gold are tried and purified in the fire!

.

And then, when God can finally see His reflection in us, we will “come forth as gold!”

And on that day will will be able to say along with David…

Bless the LORD, O my soul…

and forget not all His benefits:

Who forgiveth all thine iniquities;

healeth all thy diseases…

so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
