Atheism Exposed: Nature’s Witnesses,

“Does God Condone Slavery?”

There is a particular debate on the Internet over the issue of whether or not the Bible condones slavery.

And both advocates, a pastor and an atheist, each came armed with Scripture to prove their own position.

Unfortunately, the Pastor seemed to be outmatched by the atheist. Consequently, the Pastor could not defend his beliefs, and instead, resorted to angry insults.

The Bible is a supernatural Book. It is a “Two-edged Sword”.

It cuts to save, or it cuts to destroy.

.

In other words, the Bible is written as a sort of jigsaw puzzle: in tiny facets of truth.

And to truly understand the Bible, it must be put together, “line upon line, precept upon precept” to discover a balanced understanding about any particular truth. (Isaiah 28:10)

.

Oh yes, many people have attempted to prove various false doctrines by lifting certain passages out of the context of the entire Bible.

.

Perhaps the greatest false doctrine concocted by ignoring many scriptures is “Eternal Torment”. 

.

And that atheist did the same thing concerning slavery.

He took certain passages which, when out of context, seem to support slavery, while ignoring others which condemn slavery.

.

This devotional doesn’t have time to go into details of that debate, but simply to lay down a few high-points.

“…my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath…”

James 1:19

.

Needless to say, no Christian, and certainly no pastor should be quick-tempered. 

.

.

But what both debaters did not understand is the following passage:

“ …With the pure Thou (God) wilt shew Thyself pure;

and with the froward Thou (God) wilt shew Thyself froward.”

Psalm 18:25, 26

.

That atheist mistakenly sees God as a froward (unsavoury) Being.

And because he took passages out of context to bolster his argument, the Bible deceived him.

.

But listen to Scripture…

“…because they received not the love of the truth,

that they might be saved.

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion,

that they should believe a lie…”

2nd Thessalonians 2:10, 11

.

God abhors slavery. After all, God’s hatred for slavery is one of the main themes of His Word.

But God often addressed spiritual bondage to sin and Satan, in earthly terms, as He likewise does with so many other Bible truths.

.

In other words, this entire unsaved is under spiritual bondage to Satan, “the God of this world”! 2nd Corinthians 4:4                                                                                                                       

Listen to Jesus…Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.” John 8:34
