Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me;

For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”

One of the great lies of Satan, is that the life of the Christian is a heavy burden!

.

Or he insinuates that the life of the Christian is austere and bleak!

.

Of course, neither of these lies are true!

“REST UNTO YOUR SOULS!”

.

Jesus said… “Come unto Me, all ye that labour

and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me;

for I am meek and lowly in heart:

and ye shall find rest unto your souls. 

For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

.

Now either Jesus is lying in this above passage, or the Devil is lying, saying Christ’s yoke is heavy.

.

And of course, “it is impossible for God to lie” (Hebrews 6:18).

.

So it must be that “Father of Lies”, the Devil, who is lying about Christ’s yoke!

LIFE ETERNAL: TO KNOW ME!

The fact is, the Lord is not asking us to do some horrendous feat, to win Heaven.

.

No, all He wants is for us to get to know Him and understand the Lord, as is written…

.

“And this is life eternal, that they might know Thee

the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent…

Sanctify them through Thy truth: Thy Word is truth.”

John 17:3, 17

A LIFE OF HEARING AND PRAYING!

.

Yes, the Christian life can be lived, and victory gained by even those who are physically weak, bed-fast, or incarcerated!

.

As a matter of fact, those who are bedfast or incarcerated may have an advantage over those who are quick on their feet. 

.

And why in the world would the bedfast and incarcerated have an advantage?

.

OVERCHARGED WITH THE WORLD

.

You see, those who are full of energy and full of aspirations, quite often live a life of fulfilling obligations and self-imposed projects, often to the bankruptcy of their own soul!

.

.

.

They love to keep busy with physical efforts in one or with many duties and projects.

Their minds are mostly fixated upon the things of the world!

.

And yet, those who lack physical energy or are bed-fast or incarcerated in some way, may use their downtime to their spiritual advantage!

.

AUDIO BIBLES

.

And with the invention of portable listening devices, it may now be possible to fill their hearts with God’s Word, via the many audio Bibles now available.

.

Yes, nowadays one can listen to the Psalms, the Gospels, the epistles, and every other part of the Bible for hour upon hour, in their horizontal position!

And they can also pray while lying down.

.

Listen to Psalms 63:6…“When I remember Thee upon my bed, and meditate on Thee in the night watches.” 

.

This is the beauty of Christianity! It is not just for the “Apostle Paul’s” of the world, who travel many miles to do the work of the Lord! 

.

But Christianity is just as much for those who are not physically active.

.

Maybe even more so!

CHRISTIANITY FOR BUSY ONES TOO!

But for those who are bound up with many duties, all is not hopeless!

.

No, there is much that these busy ones can do to enhance their spiritual life!

READJUSTING PRIORITIES

.

The first thing for such overcharged ones to do, is to beg God to allow us to unreservedly follow Jesus!

.

This is pre-requisite to becoming a disciple of Jesus!

We need to put away many unnecessary duties to allow time for heavenly duties.

.

Listen…“So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be My disciple.” Luke 14:33

.

The Lord is not looking for the double-minded, to be His ambassadors to this fallen world.

.

No, true discipleship requires a full, 100% devotion to the Lord, in order to become effective witnesses to those who are lost and in the bondage which selfishness brings!

.

NOT TO TRASH BELONGINGS, NOR DUTIES

Now, God is not wanting His disciples to trash all their belongings.

.

Nor is He requiring them to give up all duties!

.

No, but rather, Christianity is like that old song…

“Turn your eyes upon Jesus!

Look full in His wonderful face!

And the things of this world will grow strangely dim,

in the light of His glory and grace!”

.

Yes, those who are afraid that God is going to snatch away all their earthly treasures and possessions need not worry.

.

Especially those with families, who must continue to provide for the needs and comforts of their family.

.

The Bottom line to all this, is perhaps summarized in the following verse…

“Thou wilt shew me the path of life:

in Thy presence is fulness of joy;
