“Ellen White on Orion”

“Canst thou bind the sweet influences of Pleiades,

or loose the bands of Orion?

Job 38:31

.

Ellen White’s ministry was a fulfillment of the Revelation 14:6, 7 prophecy…“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, ‘God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.'”

No, she wasn’t an angel, but in this above passage, we see that the everlasting Gospel was to be preached to the Earth’s inhabitants. And indeed, during her 70-year ministry, Ellen White wrote on perhaps every aspect of the Old and New Testaments, covering a myriad of topics! Oh yes, often times she simply paraphrased Bible passages, while other times she quoted the passages verbatim.

SPEAKING ABOUT ORION

.

Now during her ministry, she even briefly covered the subject of Orion, which God mentions several times in Scripture. And she wrote the following statement…“Dark, heavy clouds came up and clashed against each other. The atmosphere parted and rolled back; then we could look up through the open space in Orion, whence came the voice of God. The Holy City will come down through that open space.” {From the Ellen White book, “Early Writings”}

Now this statement seems to be, not only very cryptic, but very puzzling as well! After all, where in the Bible does it ever say that God’s voice came through that constellation? And where does it ever prophesy that “The Holy City will come down through that open space”?

THE VARIOUS OFFICES OF ORION

.

Well, many Adventists believe that the great “Horse Nebula” is that “open space”. And they may well be correct.

.

But there is another aspect to Orion which makes true biblical sense concerning her Orion statement.

.

You see, there are five currently recognized ways to view Orion. From ‘Orion the Soldier’, to ‘The Cross of Orion’, to ‘Orion the Archer’, to “Orion, The Good Shepherd”, and last but certainly not least, ‘Orion the Reaper’.

.

This amazing constellation presents a very complex revelation of God’s magnificent love for a fallen planet, seen in these five offices.

.

THE NARROW WAY & BROAD WAY STARS

.

But how can these five offices of Orion validate Ellen White’s assertion that “through the open space in Orion, whence came the voice of God. The Holy City will come down through that open space”?

.

Well, if the Reader will study “Orion the Reaper” it can be seen that the two brightest stars in Orion’s sickle represent “The Narrow Way”, as spoken of in Matthew 7:13, 14… “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” (CLICK ON THIS PICTURE TO SEE AN ENLARGED PICTURE)

Here is a very renowned Bible passage which has sparked many discussions and debates through the centuries concerning this concept of a narrow way and a broad way.

ORION GETS THE VICTORY

.

Now if you will stay up all night, you will see that the tables turn very dramatically for our three warriors.

.

This is because, as night progresses, and this constellation group moves to the west, God has designed this threesome to now be in the opposite circumstance. Now it is Orion and his Horse who are atop the Dragon. Now Orion is about to cut off the Dragon’s head with his two-edged sword, while the Horse is stomping on his tail. And of course, there needs to be no explanation, because this picture tells the whole story. Jesus wins in the end! God’s people are victorious at last! No wonder the Bible calls this story…“The Good News”!
