And yet, why should we be surprised at all this evil?

After all, in a very real sense, this antichrist world-system in which we live is what the Bible refers to as, “Hell”!
.
Yes, the Bible reveals that Satan and his fallen compatriots were, “cast…down to HELL, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;” 2nd Peter 2:4
.
And if we continue to read about these fallen angels, we soon discover… “And his (the Dragon, Satan’s) tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the EARTH:” Revelation 12:4
So, where were the angels that sinned cast down to?
.
To the Earth or to Hell?
.
Actually, both are true!
.
Yes, this kingdom of darkness which is the world-system, is included in the catch-all name, “Hell”!
.
And even though Hell refers to the grave, it also refers to the spiritual darkness in which the inhabitants of earth now live.
.
It is only when the light of Heaven begins to flicker within the heart of a believer, that he or she begins to make the upward departure out of Hell…
.
Listen to the Wise Man… “The way of life is above to the wise, that he may depart from Hell beneath.” Proverbs 15:24
.
And so, this little proverb reveals a great truth, which this world refuses to believe, nor even hear: that this dark world of sin is as much a part of Hell, as is the final reward for sin, “the grave” (or, “Sheol”)!

HELL IN THE HEART

And so, as we look out upon the landscape of this hellish world, the countless atrocities occurring in every direction should not surprise us!

But is that the extent of Hell?

Or does Hell even extend to the human heart?

It is said, that as some evil-doers were being led to their execution in the 1500’s, a well-known Reformationist of that day exclaimed, “But for the grace of God, there goeth myself, John Bradford!”

Well, whether John Bradford, or Richard Baxter or whoever else is attributed to first exclaiming this well-known saying, it is nonetheless true.

None of us can hold our head up high.
.
It’s only the grace of God that dwells in a person’s heart which causes that person to do any good thing!

THE DESIRES OF HELL IN THE HEART

Listen to this next Bible verse…
…”Yea also, because he transgresses by wine,
he is a proud man,
neither keeps at home,
who enlarges his desire as Hell,
and is as death, and cannot be satisfied,
but gathers unto him all nations,
and heaps unto him all people:”
Habakkuk 2:5

Notice this above verse speaks of enlarging one’s “desire as Hell”.

A man’s desires are in his heart.

A WORLD OF EVIL IN MY OWN HEART!

But though some of us might use this phrase, “enlarging one’s desire as Hell”, from time to time, none of us really believe it to the depths of its veracity!

Because if I really understood the wickedness that lay dormant in my very own heart, I would never ever shake my head at the atrocities occurring around the world!
.
No, instead, I would hang my head in shame because of all the evil in the world, realizing it is merely a portrait of all the potential evil lying dormant in my very own heart!
Listen to the prophet, Jeremiah… “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Jeremiah 17:9
.
This verse reveals a truth which defies the so-called science of psychology, which claims to understand the human mind!
.
Psychology just doesn’t realize that the human heart is far beyond our comprehension! “Who can know it?”, says the Lord!
.
But one great truth that psychology is totally ignorant of, is that the human heart and mind is the battlefield between the forces of Heaven and the forces of Hell!

THE TONGUE AND THE MIND

Listen to James… “And the tongue is a fire,
a world of iniquity:
so is the tongue among our members,
that it defiles the whole body,
and sets on fire the course of nature;
and it is set on fire of Hell.”
James 3:6

Well, if the tongue is “set on fire of Hell”, then what can be said for the heart and mind which fully control the tongue?
Yes, Paul, without God’s Holy Spirit, was no better than the murderous thugs we see today around the world, as evidenced by his earlier years persecuting Christians.

And neither are we!
.
Our hearts are desperately wicked! We can say along with Paul…
…”This is a faithful saying,
and worthy of all acceptation,
that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners;
of whom I am chief.”
1st Timothy 1:15
.
You see, Paul wasn’t being a bit pretentious here, as he made this above statement!
.
No, and he said that we too are worthy of this same condemnation! I too, am chief of sinners! You are too, the chief of sinners, dear reader!
.
And so, as both you and I look out upon this horribly evil world, we are merely beholding the potential depths of depravity lying within of our own heart!
.
And it is only the restraining power of the Holy Spirit that keeps such wickedness in-check!
.

NO ROOM FOR FINGER-POINTING!
.
And for further confirmation of our own wickedness, Paul gives a long laundry-list” of the sins of the world, and then says to us…
…”Therefore you are inexcusable, O man,
whosoever you are that judges:
for wherein you judge another,
you condemn yourself;
for you who judges, do the same things.”
Romans 2:1
.
As it clearly states in the above verse, we who judge another wicked human, do not realize that the same wickedness exists in us too!

DOOR OF MERCY STILL AJAR!
.
But in spite of this horrible situation, there is Good News for any person, be it man, woman, or child, who is willing to become a follower and disciple of Jesus!
.
And so, dear “strangers and pilgrims”, let us turn our backs on this ugly world, and begin to purify our hearts, that we might dwell in love, and dwell in God, and He in us!
But the long oval-shaped body has relatively few stars, but can been seen, howbeit with a dark starry night.
.
The four stars of the front fins are made partially of Taurus.
.
This Dragon constellation appears in the eastern horizon about mid-summer in the pre-dawn hours, spewing his flood-waters northward toward the Woman of Revelation 12 (Woman in Travail).
When King Saul destroyed the Amalekites, by sparing the lives of Agag the wicked king and the best of the sheep and oxen, he disobeyed God’s command to destroy everything.

Now in Saul’s mind, to make an offering to God superseded obedience to the commandment of the Lord to utterly destroy all the spoil of the Amalekites.

But listen to what Samuel answered Saul…
“And Samuel said, ‘Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices,
When Eve listened to the whisperings of Satan, through the serpent, she was convinced that God was keeping her back from her true potential.
.
Yes, Eve aspired to rise to a more exalted station in life. No longer was she content to stay in her place.
.
You could perhaps say that Eve was the world’s first women’s-rights advocate.
.
Yes, the world has come a long way, since that fateful day in paradise when the Deceiver convinced Eve that she ought to be promoted to a higher standing.
.

SAME PRESUMPTUOUS SIN
.
Now, just what does this account of Eve’s disobedience have to do with the disobedience of King Saul?
.
Well, we seem to have a similar situation in today’s church-world. You see, the Bible has made it clear that…
“Let your women keep silence in the churches:
for it is not permitted unto them to speak;
but they are commanded to be under obedience,
as also saith the law.
And if they will learn any thing,
let them ask their husbands at home:
for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.”
1st Corinthians 14:34, 35
.
This commandment of the Lord is now being ignored or rejected altogether by many in today’s churches.
.
Women are now beginning to become ordained pastors and elders, in spite of God’s command not to.
And so, just why would a woman dare presume to think that her talents & services in the pulpit somehow supersedes a plain,“Thus saith the Lord”?
.
This is akin to what King Saul did in his disobedience to the plain,“Thus saith the Lord”.
.
And listen again to Samuel’s rebuke to Saul…“For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry.” 1st Samuel 15:23
.
WOW! Our acts of rebellion are as the sin of witchcraft!
.
And our stubbornness is as idolatry!
.
(Certainly, a woman could teach the women’s class, or even the children’s class if she desires to teach others. And a woman might perhaps, also evangelize outside the local congregation, as did Priscilla along with her husband Aquila. Read Acts, Chapter 18).
But this account of Saul’s presumptuous disobedience can also be extended to men as well!
.
Yes, there are many of us on the Internet who commit the same presumptuous sin, when we purposely take copyrighted pictures from other websites, and use them on our own websites without proper permission.
.
It would be better to not even have a website, than to knowingly and intentionally operate in such a shameful manner!
.
How can we expect the Lord to bless our endeavors when we knowingly and defiantly trample on the commandment of the Lord, “Thou shalt not steal”?
Now this concept can be extended even further into the daily life of Christians!
.
Do I obey the ordinances of Man?
.
Do I get all the necessary permits and licenses and inspections?
.
Do I obey all the traffic laws?
.
Do I pay all my taxes?
.
And so, before I point the accusing finger at women in the pulpits of today’s churches, I need to first examine my own wretched life!
.
Yes, when we get right down to it, this little account of Saul’s presumptuous disobedience is a very terrifying story, presenting a fearful sin, which commonly occurs in today’s Christian community!
Well, there is some very Good News in all this terror.
.
Yes, the door of mercy is still ajar!
.
And we can still come to God on our spiritual knees, begging for forgiveness and mercy and strength to make amends.
.
And those of us who finally turn away from our presumptuous sins will ultimately find a joyful stability in our relationship with God that we never had when living in disobedience…
…”Who can understand his errors?
cleanse Thou me from secret faults.
Keep back Thy servant also from presumptuous sins;
let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright,
and I shall be innocent from the Great Transgression.”
Psalm 19:12, 13

Here, the psalmist is pleading for God to reveal any secret faults and any presumptuous sins.
“Dear Lord, Help me to understand my secret faults. Show me where I have become presumptuous. And patiently bring me to faith regarding these matters, so that I can rectify any presumptuous situation…

This most amazing phenomenon is seen throughout the winter.
.
Although it can be observed most of the winter, it is seen best when it is the western part of the sky, at winter’s end (The end of winter being the final scene of this heavenly Gospel story).

Orion, the Dragon, and the Glorious White Horse are beginning to descend into the western horizon (this sketch is of the Winter Constellations descending into western horizon. This can actually be seen as early as December, in the pre-dawn hours).
But the Wide Gate Stars are composed of the two brightest stars of the Auriga Constellation, known as the star, Capella, and the star, Menkalinan.

The two stars, Castor and Pollux, make up the concept of the Orion’s Narrow Gate Stars.
.
This can even be observed into June in the western sky (for a short time just after dark).
.
While a dark night is best for seeing the Woman Constellation, the 4 stars which comprise the Narrow Gate/Wide Gate Stars can be seen even under mediocre conditions.

It begins with the Fleeing Woman of Revelation 12 Constellation (AKA Ursa Major) going towards these two doors.
.
The sketch shows the two doors are each composed of two bright stars.

The two bright stars that comprise the Narrow Gate are the two brightest stars of the Orion the Reaper’s sickle.

So maybe it would be wise to take a look at Balaam for a moment and see what he did to the children of Israel, and hopefully understand how this applies to us…

…we who are now members of the“Commonwealth of Israel” (Ephesians 2:12).

You see, Balaam was a Babylonian soothsayer, who was hired by Balack, the king of Moab to curse the children of Israel.
.
But Balaam discovered that he could not pronounce his curse upon God’s people. Only blessings came out of his mouth.
.
And Numbers, Chapters 22-25 present the account of Balaam’s failed cursings upon the camp of Jehovah.
And thus-so it has been throughout the history of the Church.
.
Yes, Satan has led the apostate portion of the Church to come against God’s elect by various times of persecution: torture, banishment, Bible-burning, and martyrdom of the saints of God.
.
But these acts of cruelty only strengthened the Church of God.
.
Yes, the blood of the martyrs only became the fuel which ignited the Reformation of the Church through the centuries of the Dark Ages!
Now after Balaam’s failed curses upon Israel, Balaam most likely whispered this new strategy into the ears of the king of Moab, something like this:“If the king of Moab really wants to destroy God’s people, then merely send lewd women into the camp of God.”
.
And that’s exactly what Balack did! And this strategy proved very effective!
.
God’s people became bewitched by those adulterous women and even began worshiping the god of Moab, Baalpeor. (See Numbers 25)
.
And this little account from the Old Testament, corresponds to the history of the Church.
“But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare,
and into many foolish and hurtful lusts,
which drown men in destruction and perdition…
And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.”
1st Timothy 6:9, 8
.
Yes, this little account of Balaam, from the Old Testament, corresponds the history of the Church.
.
You see, after many centuries of persecution through the Dark Ages in Europe, by the first Beast of Revelation 13, the mind of Satan, that true Antichrist Beast suddenly changed.
.
And a seemingly new Beast, “coming up out of the earth”, began a brand-new form of persecution against God’s people. Revelation 13:11
.
This was the 2nd Beast of Revelation 13: The False Prophet.
And so it is, that in the last few centuries, Satan, via his False Prophet Beast has flooded the Christian world with every conceivable distraction and earthy attraction!
.
God’s people have become overwhelmed with earthly Mammon…
.
…a myriad of amusements, television, radio, Internet, magazines, video games…
…houses, gardens, and lands, romance, buying/selling…
.
…and a host of other diversions which, collectively, have crowded our lives to the point that we have put our Christian pilgrimage on the proverbial “back-burner”.
.
Now, it’s not that going into a restaurant is wrong, or having a hobby, etc.
.
But the goal of Satan is to fill up the Christian’s life to the point that worldly pleasures, treasures, and pursuits have greatly crowded out the Believer’s 100% devotion to overcoming the world.
.
And so, the False Prophet has successfully mired God’s people in spiritual harlotry, such that could never be accomplished by the great physical persecution of Christians during the Dark Ages!
“AND THE THINGS OF THE WORLD WILL GROW STRANGELY DIM”
.
Oh no, we don’t need to throw away all our earthly belongings!
.
But when a man, woman, or child truly begins an ascent up the heavenly pathway, all those glittering earthly attractions eventually fade away and lose their hold on us.
.
It’s like that old song… “Turn your eyes upon Jesus!
Look full in His wonderful face!
And the things of the world, will grow strangely dim,
in the light of His glory and grace!”
.
As this little song sings, by beholding Jesus, the glittering tinsel-like treasures and earthy pleasures will eventually lose their luster and relinquish their hold upon our life!

The answer to this question is a very complex answer.

And those who are just hearing this concept for the first time, must be willing to patiently search the Scriptures, day-by-day, to confirm these difficult truths…

Listen…“These (Bereans) were more noble…
in that they received the Word with all readiness of mind,
and searched the scriptures daily,
whether those things were so.”
Acts 17:11
.
God is giving us a picture about these noble Bereans, in hopes that today’s Christians will emulate the open-mindedness of those noble Bereans, when searching out new Bible truth.
The Apostle, Paul, revealed a great truth concerning the allegorical nature of the Bible…
“Tell me…do ye not hear the law?
For it is written, that Abraham had two sons,
the one by a bondmaid (of the flesh),
the other by a freewoman…by promise.
Which things are an allegory…”
Galatians 4:21-22, 24-26 (condensed for brevity. To read all, click here)

So, Paul reveals here that the story of Abraham is a historic parable.
.
It really happened, but was orchestrated by God to present a picture of the Gospel and a picture of the two portions of the Church: the faithful portion and the apostate portion.
And so, by comparing spiritual things with spiritual, a Bible student can begin to unlock the various allegories found throughout the Old Testament (and the New Testament).
…”In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram,
saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land,
from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:”
Genesis 15:18
.
Now, even though God actually made this promise to Abraham, it was never literally fulfilled.

And yet, it lays down a great big clue as to what all those nations surrounding Israel actually represented.

And so, as we read about the Philistines or about Moab, or even about Egypt, or Babylon, or Sodom, etc., we are actually reading about the apostate portion of God’s people.
“Dear Lord, Help me to understand the allegorical nature of the Bible, so that I can progress further up the pathway of truth! Give me a love for studying my Bible, so that I may become changed into the image of Jesus…

If a person has ever been in the deserts of the western United States, they can appreciate the Joshua Tree.
.
These hardy types of vegetation are among the few plants that can survive in such barren and arid regions.
.
The name, “Joshua Tree“ came about during the 1800’s, when Mormon settlers proclaimed that the Joshua Tree reminded them of the biblical Joshua when he raised his hands up in prayer to God.
.
(Actually, one might even call it the “John the Baptist Tree”, since he thrived in the solitude of his desert sanctuary!)
…it symbolized the dried up, bleak and meager spiritual life of those who place their affections and trust in this world of selfish pursuits and faithless ways.
“But the natural man receives not the things of the Spirit of God…because they are spiritually discerned”
1st Corinthians 2:14 (Condensed)

The Bible has many similar passages which can be confusing.
.
But through careful/prayerful study, “comparing spiritual things with spiritual”, every seemingly erroneous and contradicting passage can be rightly discerned, thus confirming that the Bible faithful and true!

FLEE TO THE MOUNTAINS!

So why in the world would we want to become like a juniper or Joshua Tree!?
.
On one hand, God doesn’t wish for us to become like a lonely Joshua Tree.
.
But when it comes to fleeing out of the world-loving churches, God wants us to become like a lonely tree…maybe even like a “Joshua Tree”, or even a “John the Baptist Tree”!
.

MOAB = BABYLON
.
You see, God could not come right out and openly tell us to vacate the apostate churches.
.
That would have caused the Church too much confusion and anarchy in decades past, prior to the God-appointed hour of this end-time exodus.
.
But a plain call for exodus from the apostate churches of these last days would also have caused even the “make-believers” to vacate the fallen, apostate churches.
.
And then there would have been no clear line of demarcation between the true Believers and those “make-believers”, causing even more confusion!
.
And so, He had to speak in veiled, allegorical language.
.
And God decided to present this, “Flee out of Babylon” command in allegorical language…
.
Listen…“Flee out of the midst of Babylon,
and deliver every man his soul:
be not cut off in her iniquity;
for this is the time of the LORD’S vengeance;
He will render unto her a recompense.”
Jeremiah 51:6
.
And whether God calls the apostate churches, “Babylon”, or whether he refers to it as, “Moab”, it is all speaking of the apostate church-world.
And so now it becomes evident that we must become, “like the heath in the wilderness”, in the sense of separating ourselves from our past ungodly associations in the apostate churches.

“Wherefore come out from among them (unbelievers),
and be ye separate, saith the Lord…”
2nd Corinthians 6:17, 18

Our relationship with the Lord must be a very personal, one-on-one relationship…

…separated from the corruption and prosperity gospels being preached in the local congregations (and the various radio and television ministries.)

THIS STUDY #521 IS PRESENTED BY THE LATE HAROLD CAMPING…
If a person has ever been in the deserts of the south-western United States, they can appreciate the various types of junipers, either bushes or trees.
.
These hardy forms of vegetation are among the few plants which can survive in such hot, barren, arid regions.
And it seems that God Himself has chosen to use these oft-solitary trees and shrubs to present a spiritual concept.
.
Listen to today’s signature passage…“Cursed be the man that trusts in man,
and maketh flesh his arm,
and whose heart departs from the LORD.
For he shall be like the heath (juniper) in the desert,
and shall not see when good comes;
but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness,”
Jeremiah 17:5, 6
.
Here is presented a person who trusts in people and trusts in the ways of the world, comparing such-a-one to the lonely junipers which are found in barren, desert places.
Yes, there are so many within the church-world, who attempt to have a relationship with Christ, while still living according to the course of this faithless and rebellious world.

But listen to this prophecy concerning the end of time…
…”And they (God’s people) shall go into the holes of the rocks,
and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD,
and for the glory of His majesty,
when He arises to shake terribly the earth…
Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils:
for wherein is he to be accounted of?”
Isaiah 2:19, 22
.
Here is another passage which agrees with today’s signature passage from Jeremiah 17.
.
And so, this concept will obviously be an integral part of these last days and the tribulation which awaits us! And it commands us to“Cease ye from man”.
And isn’t it true that this high-tech, opulent society, tries to create a completely man-centered solution for every situation in life?
.
Just look around! Practically everything has been provided for us!
.
Our food, clothing, vehicles, homes, furniture, insurance policies, entertainment, recreation, sports, resorts, children’s education, clubs, boundary-lines, and even our houses of worship: so much of today’s world has been neatly manufactured to specification.
.
Very little is left to chance in this modern-day society.
.
Oh yes, to a certain degree, we can choose from a number of different styles.
.
But we love to trust in our human strength and all our faithless means of getting our own way in the world…
.
…our anger, our wrath, our impatience, our greed of gain, our joking & jesting, our human love, and all our other faithless ways in which we conduct our lives in this self-seeking world!
And you would think that the leaders of society would be happy with all the present-day conformity and orderliness!
.
But alas, the dark, unseen forces who have created our super-society are still tirelessly working behind the scenes to bring us into further conformity and totalitarian control!
.
“The noose is being tightened”, so to speak! The walls of authoritarian control are closing in around us, it seems.
But Christians can still live out the tenets of the Bible, while existing in this ever-increasing totalitarianism.
.
Yes, we are still able to live by faith in a faithless society.
.
And though our “neon gods” tell us how we should handle the various situations of life, the Bible often lays down Heaven’s principles of faith in very different ways!
.
And for the moment, the Christian can still use all the modern-day conveniences to our advantage, allowing them to free us up, so that we can spend our extra time studying the Bible and more time sharing it with others.

Examine the above verse from Matthew 24:24. It speaks of God’s people being deceived, if,“{it were} possible”
.
Do you notice the brackets around the words,“it were”?
.
Those brackets are added because the King James translators added those two little words to the above sentence, so as to make the sentence sound more complete.
.
Or perhaps they figured that it would be absolutely impossible to deceive the,“very elect”,people of God!
One such false doctrine is named by theologians as the Hermeneutic of Literalism, or the“Historical Grammatical Method of Interpretation”.
.
What this means, is that the Bible student must only come up with a literal interpretation of any Bible passage, unless context absolutely demands an allegorical interpretation.

NON-BIBLICAL HERMENEUTIC
.
The big problem with this so-called Hermeneutic of Literal Interpretation is that it totally lacks any biblical validity!
.
It is totally a man-made doctrine, since there is nowhere in Scripture that tells us that we must interpret Scripture as literal as possible!
.
It is merely a theologian-devised doctrine!
.
Oh yes, all those Bible stories were true historical events. But God purposely orchestrated them to teach us heavenly truths.
.

.
TWO SPIRITS
.
So exactly what does the Bible have to say about such theological literalists?
.
Listen…
…”Now we have received, not the spirit of the world,
but the spirit which is of God;
that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teaches,
but which the Holy Ghost teaches;
comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”
1st Corinthians 2:12, 13
.
Okay, so this above passage explains that there are two spirits in the world:“the spirit of the world”, and“the Holy Ghost teacheth”.
.
And if we are filled with the Holy Ghost, then we will be“comparing spiritual things with spiritual”, when interpreting God’s Word.
But what they do not understand is that the entire Bible is, “the spirit of prophecy”. Revelation 19:10
.
And so, when reading such stories as Abraham and Sarah, and Hagar, these stories are prophetic, and require spiritual interpretations…
.
Listen…“But he who was of the bondwoman
was born after the flesh;
but he of the freewoman was by promise.
Which things are an allegory:
for these are the two covenants;
the one from the mount Sinai, which genders to bondage, which is Agar.
For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia,
and answers to Jerusalem which now is,
and is in bondage with her children.
But Jerusalem which is above is free,
which is the mother of us all.”
Galatians 4:23-26
.
So, Paul certainly had no problem interpreting Scripture metaphorically!

Here he takes a story that makes complete sense in the real world, and he still finds an allegorical meaning (thus making him a much-maligned and so-called, “Replacement Theologian”.)

DOUBLE-TONGUED
.
But even those who claim to be biblical literalists, don’t always follow their own false hermeneutic!
.
Yes, the fact is, most of those who claim to follow that Hermeneutic of Historical Literalism, actually pick-n-choose when they wish to use it or not use it.
.
When it’s convenient to use it, they use it.
.
When it’s not convenient, they don’t use it!
.
Of course, this is the very essence of double-tongued hypocrisy!
Now those who have been seduced by that particular hermeneutic may not lose their Salvation over it.
.
And yet, the mere fact that they have been deceived may just be an indication that they are not yet truly saved.
.
But one thing is for sure! By convincing the majority of Christians that they must follow this hermeneutic, Satan has closed off a great portion of the Scriptures that must be understood spiritually and allegorically.
.
These were all given by God to be prophetic in nature… “for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Revelation 19:10
.
Whether Old Testament or New, the Bible reveals some aspect of the Gospel of Christ, howbeit quite often veiled in allegories, types and symbols.

Satan will not be able deceive the very Elect, to the point of damnation.

And yet, we must not think that Satan cannot deceive the very Elect for a while!
.
In other words, while Satan cannot cause the Elect to lose their Salvation, that doesn’t mean that the very Elect are never ever going to be deceived by Satan.
Most Christians have no problem seeing the delusion in such books as,“Heather Has Two Mommies”.
.
But when it comes to such literature as say, theComplete Works of Shakespeare, many Christians are easily fooled!
.
Or what about the writings ofMark Twain?
.
Many Christians think his books are,“Simply wonderful!”
.
And yet the Bible clearly warns us…“To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this Word, it is because there is no light in them.” Isaiah 8:20.

Over the past decades, there has been much speculation about just how the Mark must be given to the people of the world.
.
And there is a debate over whether “buying & selling” is to be understood literally or spiritually, or both!
.
In other words, the day may be coming when the true Gospel can no longer be publicly shared or preached!
.
This kind of buying and selling is found in such places as Isaiah 23:23…“Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.”
.
So, this verse lets us know that we are to buy, but not to sell the truth.
But there is also a growing concern that Christians are coming to that day when we willno longer be able to literally buy or sell!
.
And if one looks out on the horizon, there indeed seems to be various laws and court decisions which, when implemented, will test just what kind of substance that each and every Christian is made of: “gold, silver, precious stones, or wood, hay, stubble!” (1st Corinthians 3:12)
The fact is, it appears that both schools of thought concerning the nature of this “buying & selling” during the coming tribulation seem to be coming to fruition.
.
Yes, there are more and more laws which are restricting free speech.
.
But there are also more and more laws which demand that you either forfeit some particular aspect of your Christian ethics or suffer the financial/social consequences.
.

LIBERTY NOW WANING

It is amazing to see a society, which was originally founded on the principle of “freedom of speech”, turn away so easily from this great liberty!

Yes, freedom of political and religious speech was once so highly valued here!

And it is equally amazing to see a certain political group which has been first to cry “foul”, when anyone tries to censure their favorite books and music, begin themselves to censure anything that has to do with true Christianity.
And so, the point of all this is to suggest that the day in which, “no man might buy or sell (the true gospel)”, is now beginning to become a reality.

And so, O Stranger & Pilgrim in this world, it is high time that we put away all our amusements and diversions and flee to the clefts of God’s Word, and unceasing prayer.

After all we don’t want to find ourselves in this following dreadful situation…
“And take heed to yourselves,
lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting,
and drunkenness,
and cares of this life,
and so that day come upon you unawares.
For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.”

Just how much of Jesus do you or I want in our own life?
.
In other words, do you or I want to have Jesus reign 100% in our lives? Or do we merely want some, but not all of Jesus?
.
This is a very critical question. Because if we only wish SOME of Jesus to reign in our life, then in reality, we really don’t want the true Jesus to rule and reign over us…
.
Listen… “And every man that hath this hope in Him (Jesus)
purifies himself, even as He (Jesus) is pure.”
1st John 3:3
.
And so, here is a very joyful, but a very difficult saying.
So, the Good News in all this is that God is allowing us just enough time to repent of our world-loving ways…
.
…and time to return unto Him in heart-felt contrition and genuine humbleness and sorrow for our sins.
.
And we must take to heart what James says…
“Ye adulterers and adulteresses,
know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God?…
Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep:
let your laughter be turned to mourning,
and your joy to heaviness.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord,
and He shall lift you up.”
James 4:4, 8-10
.
And so, in the light of this above passage, we must persist to follow this kind of humbling of our hearts, until the day that God indeed lifts us up, no matter how long it takes!

For instance, one lady recounts that Jesus spoke to her, saying, “Tara (not her actual name), I want you to give that sermon tonight, even though you don’t feel like it!”

But though this statement from God may seem reasonable, the fact that Tara actually heard these words in her head makes a world of difference!
.
Did God actually speak these words to her? Well Tara insists that they were spoken by God to her!
.

MANY VOICES SPEAKING TODAY
.
Now, if the one listens to religious radio or TV, this questionable phenomenon is often talked about and sometimes even happens!
.
And according to many Bible authorities today, such people as Tara must decide if that which was uttered by that voice in their mind, is fully in harmony with Scripture, to be from God.
.
And if those words spoken to Tara were spoken by a human being, then no further tests would be required.
‘It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.'”
Matthew 4:4.
These are the words of Jesus, as He answered the Devil in the wilderness of temptation.
.
Now Jesus did not say that “Man shall live by SOME WORDS”. But Jesus said that “Man shall live by EVERY WORD”.
In other words, those words spoken to Tara also proceeded from the mouth of God!
.
So, do you see the giant trap here? If Man must live by every word which proceeds from God’s mouth, then that includes Tara’s revelation too!
.

APOCRYPHA
.
It must be remembered that there was a collection of Apocryphal books which claimed to be God-inspired writings.
.
And these books were written many long centuries ago. But because these writings did not measure up to the Bible in a number of different ways, they have been rejected from being included in the Bible.
.
Yes, if the same scrutiny applied to the Apocryphal writings were applied to TV celebrities claiming to be receiving “God-breathed words”, then it would be very easy to see that such men are uttering counterfeit revelations to their devotees who follow them on TV (or radio).
Yes, after the Apostle, John, finished his revelations almost 2,000 years ago, the Bible was forever finished.
.
God said all He wanted to say.
.
And those who think that God is beginning to give more revelations should probably quit listening to that voice speaking to them in their head, and begin studying their Bible very carefully.
.

LIVING IN A DAY OF SIGNS AND WONDERS

Now just one more comment.

Those many people today, like Tara, are no doubt hearing an actual voice. But let’s not forget the following words of Jesus…
“For there shall arise false Christs,
and false prophets,
and shall show great signs and wonders;
insomuch that, if [it were] possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Behold, I have told you before.”
Matthew 24:24, 25.

Jesus has forewarned us that this day would come! So let us not be so easily deceived!

Just look at all the construction going on! Just look at all the people, like busy little ants, going back and forth to their daily labor!

Behold all those industrious entrepreneurs who work night and day, to build their empires, big or small!
.
What about them?

To all these, the answer comes echoing down through the corridors of time… “Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity!”
.
Yes, all the labor that you or I will perform will all get washed away as if castles made of sand, as each new generation comes in like each new tide washes to the shore!
Or what about all those years of schooling a person goes through in a lifetime?

Or what about all the exciting adventures that we enjoy?
.
Or those mountains we conquered?
.
Or those exotic vacations?
.
Or those interesting places we visited?
.
The voice of the Wise Man still echoes down to this present generation… “Vanity (meaningless) of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity (meaningless)!”

Yes, it’s all meaningless! Soon all will be forgotten, as if it never happened!

NO PROFIT OF ALL A MAN’S LABOR

Listen again as Solomon continued to speak concerning the grave…
.
“…for the memory of them (mankind) is forgotten.
Also their love, and their hatred,
and their envy, is now perished;
neither have they any more a portion for ever
in any thing that is done under the sun.”
Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6
.
And so, without Salvation, everything we do, good or bad, is soon buried with us! And time will wash away anything that we leave standing under the sun! It all goes back to the earth!
But amidst all this sad commentary, there is some Good News!

There is still Salvation!
.
And God has left open the door of mercy, so that a man, woman, or child can still get in!
.
Yes, God has left the door to everlasting life still open!
.
And once we enter in, then will our lives have mattered!
.
Then, as we joyfully walk through those golden highways of love throughout eternity, the oft-troubled years that we spent on this sad ol’ planet will not have been in vain!

FLOWER OF THE FIELD CONSTELLATION

This is perhaps one of the most amazing constellations that God has created!

It truly looks like a flower, and appears to be blowing in the direction of westward.

But as autumn draws near, this constellation appears to bow itself down, just like the flowers of Earth bow down, at the summer’s end.
.
And these are not merely obscure stars.
.
These are among the biggest and brightest stars in the night heavens!
.
The Two Turtle-Doves Constellation is also known as Sagittarius.
.
The Flower of the Field is commonly known as Scorpio.
.
But there is another obvious aspect to this constellation group.
.
Notice that the birds are flying in the same direction as the flower is bending; it is as if the east wind is blowing these heavenly messengers…
.
“The wind blows where it desires,
and you hear the sound thereof,
but canst not tell whence it comes,
and where it goes:
so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
John 3:8.

So here is another incredible Bible concept, written in the heavens! And God has spoken of these signs!

There are many wonderful aspects within Creation. And there are many amazing things in nature!
.
One of the most incredible discoveries is that of a certain little fruit-fly species, which has been recently discovered!
.
If there were no photographs, probably nobody would believe that it’s true!
.
You see, this certain type of fruit-fly has an image of an ant on each of its wings! And not just a vague image, either! No, this image is very exact! You just have to see this to believe it!
.
And while evolutionists try to save face by claiming this oddity to be a product of evolution, deep down they probably realize that this can be nothing short of the work of God!
.

Do you see a man’s face?

It’s that proverbial “Man in the Moon”. We’ve always taken it for granted. But now we’re learning that God is responsible for creating this Nocturnal Watchman. You see, God has etched Signs in the Moon, long ago.

A story? Yes. And just now He is revealing those Signs. Just now He is telling that story.

God promised that His covenant with David (who represented Christ)“shall be established for ever as the Moon, and as a faithful witness in heaven. Selah.” Psalm 89
But how could God do such a thing? Easy! God is God! God is infinite! If God wishes to make a big statement, what better way for Him to do so, than by creating a heavenly orb with a face etched into it.

The Moon is a perfect object-lesson! It reflects the light of the Sun, in the same way that a Christian must reflect the light of Jesus, the “Sun of Righteousness”. And the Moon, though the “lessor light”, still provides enough light to help us see at night; just as the Church is to reflect Christ’s light to this sin-darkened world!

And more than this, the Bible declares… “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows his handiwork.”Psalm 19:1.

So this verse which says, “The heavens declare the glory of God”, applies also to the Moon.

Such foods as coffee and sugar will make that person more susceptible to many illnesses, from tooth-decay, common colds to flu, to even more serious virus-based illness, and even various cancers.

Now those who are careful about what they eat, drink, and how they exercise, and rest, will be more inclined to have a good pH balance.

And God’s original diet which He gave to our first parents in the garden (fresh fruit & herb-bearing seeds) was designed to keep the body alkaline and disease-free.
Now just how does this relate to the body of Christ?

Is it possible for the body of Christ to become spiritually acidic? Is it possible for the body of Christ to become susceptible to spiritual illnesses?

The Bible says… “For the time will come
when they will not endure sound doctrine;
but after their own lusts
shall they heap to themselves teachers,
having itching ears;
And they shall turn away their ears from the truth,
and shall be turned unto fables.”

Here above, Paul forewarns that the time will come when solid biblical doctrine will no longer be tolerated.

TODAY’S POLLYANNISH GOSPELS

So the question to be answered is, “Have we arrived at that day? Is solid biblical doctrine no longer tolerated?”

The fact is, today’s churches, for the most part, conduct their services in such a way, that they will not offend the parishioners.
.
And quite often, the result of such happy-faced preaching, is a totally non-offensive gospel, much like that fictional character, Pollyanna!
.
Yes, Pollyanna was a delightfully precocious young girl who discovered 800 totally non-offensive Bible verses that had absolutely no negativity!
.
Oh, a person might call much of today’s preaching a type of “gospel according to Pollyanna”!
And as a result, the body of Christ has become weak and susceptible to the same spiritual viral illnesses that society is infected with.

And no wonder we are seeing today’s churches imitating the world in various ways.
.
And no wonder that secular-minded persons can sit week-after-week in the pews and not be offended by what they hear!
.
And this explains why those churches have become filled with worldly-minded individuals, who eventually take control of those congregations!

It is a church-world which offers, “the best of both worlds!”

SIGNS & WONDERS

Over the past 100 years, a growing phenomenon has occurred in the Christian churches.

It is the phenomenon called, “Signs & Wonders”.

At first it began in just a few churches, but now after more than 100 years, it has spread like wildfire throughout almost the entire Christian world.
.
Now the most prominent are the various signs & wonders known as “speaking in tongues”, “Slain in the Spirit” (falling backwards), plus voices, visions, dreams, and even “Drunk in the Spirit”, and its side-kick sign, “Laughing in the Spirit”.

DOUBLE-MINDED

Now, just how are we to know whether or not these signs are from God or from the Devil?

Well, there are a number of ways to discern the true source of the current signs & wonders.

But for the sake of brevity, the following verse will be offered as a test of truth…

Listen… “For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.”
James 1:7, 8
.
So here it says that those who are double-minded, should not think that they shall receive anything from God.

PROSPERITY-DRIVEN GOSPEL
.
And so, can we look at the current Christian world which thrives on signs & wonders?
.
Is today’s Christian culture conducive to receiving such an honorable “seal of approval” from God in the form of signs & wonders?
.
Or are we a “double-minded” people in today’s Christianity?
.
Well, it doesn’t take more than a brief examination to see that those who are involved in signs & wonders could not possibly be receiving signs & wonders from God!
.
No, the current condition in today’s church-world is the very icon of doublemindedness!
.
Almost the entire church-world has embraced the prosperity-driven gospel.
Yes, the entire church-world has embraced, to one degree or another, the pursuit of almost the same high-paying careers and trades, and all the same materialism which the secular world pursues after!
.
And isn’t it true that many churchgoers encourage their children to pursue high-paying trades and careers, which promise a life of opulence…
.
…howbeit, the very same opulence which led to the decadence of Sodom and Gomorrah, and to their ultimate destruction?
.
Listen… “Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom: pride, fulness of bread…” Ezekiel 16:49
.
The very first two sins which God charged against His people, comparing them to Sodom, could very well be charged against the churches in this hedonistic and opulent society.
Listen to what Jesus thinks about a prosperity-minded church…
…”So then because thou art lukewarm,
and neither cold nor hot,
I will spue thee out of My mouth.
Because thou sayest, I am rich,
and increased with goods,
and have need of nothing;
and knowest not that thou art wretched,
and miserable,
and poor,
and blind,
and naked:”
Revelation 3:16, 17

This above passage has been written especially for the current-day double-minded churches in this decadent, cornucopian society we currently live in, instead of merely “using but not abusing) the things of the world”. 1st Corinthians 7:31

Now, those of us who are just now waking up to our undone condition, still have time to “come out of her (spiritual Babylon), My people”. Revelation 18:4

Because this wave of water is basically composed of ten stars.

In yesterday’s devotional (click here), this 2nd beast was introduced, and how he brought the world under a brand-new deception progressively over the last two centuries.

Yes, this is The False Prophet of Revelation 13.
.
And besides bringing the western nations into opulence and decadence, he also brought many false doctrines into the Church, over the last two centuries.
.
And so, this continuation ofyesterday’s devotional (click here to read) will now lightly touch on one of the most damaging and heretical false doctrines which have slowly crept into the Church of God…
It must be kept in mind that this False Prophet is also comprised of the 6th and 7th heads of the Revelation 13 Antichrist Beast, the 1st Beast.
.
Thus, the right horn of the False Prophet (the 2nd beast of Revelation 13) aligns itself with the 7th head of the Revelation 13 1st beast.
.
And so, the right horn of the False Prophet, representing “morality/justice” combines with the 7th head of the 1st Beast, representing apostate “Protestantism/Evangelicalism”.
But perhaps the greatest of all false doctrines was popularized by such men as Charles Finney in the early 1800’s.
.
Yes, Charles Finney, an extremely intelligent and gifted orator, began an evangelistic crusade, capitalizing on the do-it-yourself gospel, given the non-biblical name, “The Free-Will Gospel”.
.
This was the idea that, “we first choose Christ”, and not Him first choosing us!
.
This error was first popularized, or at least credited to a Dutch professor named Jacobus Arminius way back in the late 1500’s.
.
Unfortunately, John Wesley, an otherwise very great evangelist (but purportedly, a rather poor theologian), somewhat embraced this view of Arminius, and preached this Free-Will gospel, at least for some part of his ministry.
And Charles Finney, a great evangelist, but also a very poor theologian, latched on to Wesley’s error.
.
And so, Finney began his crusade, implementing a technique of altar calls.
.
And with his fire-n-brimstone preaching followed up by altar calls, was able to bring large numbers trembling to their knees in repentance, at every one of his camp meetings.
.
And so, many-a hopeless drunkard and hardened adulterer, after hearing Finney’s fiery rhetoric, were brought to tears and emotional “conversions”, at Finney’s altar calls.
But the problem was, with such a “I-did-it-myself!”, man-centered “Free-Will” gospel, those countless do-it-yourself converts soon fell back into the world, becoming God-hating blasphemers.
.
As a matter of fact, it is recorded that a certain man followed in the wake of Finney’s crusades for the purpose of observing the results of Finney’s preaching.
.
And in many of the communities where Finney had previously held his camp meetings, there was now a shroud of spiritual darkness which enveloped those places.
.
And so, the term, “blackened Earth” was coined to describe the spiritual darkness which now lay upon those places, as a result of Finney’s crusades.
.
And for years following, those communities could not be preached in, because of that shroud of spiritual darkness which remained in Finney’s wake!
.
Fortunately, Charles Finney (it has been reported) made a death-bed repentance in the form of a letter, recanting his unbiblical techniques and doctrines.
Unfortunately, while Finney’s public repentance was nice for him, he nevertheless left a legacy for others who would follow in his footsteps.
.
And so, the Christian community was flooded with all sorts of false doctrines and non-biblical programs, which thrived in that unholy medium created by the “Free-Will” gospel.

When Satan deceived Mankind, God allowed him to become the ruler of this lost and rebellious world.

2nd Corinthians 4:4 calls him, “the god of this world”!

Three times in the Gospel of John, Satan is referred to as, “The prince of this world”. (John 12:31, 14:30, 16:11)
.
Ephesians 2:2 refers to Satan as “The Prince of the Power of the Air”.
.
But in these last days, Satan is coming as “the False Prophet”, spoken of in Revelation 13.
.
And in his role as the False Prophet in the past few centuries, he has put a “happy face” on much of this wicked world…

…and thus, deceiving many of the naïve and blinded multitudes into thinking that this ‘theme-park-like’ world is a pretty nice place, for the most part…and a whole lot of fun!

6TH & 7TH HEAD RISE UP
.
Now, these daily devotionals place a great amount of emphasis on the 6th head of the first Beast of Revelation 13, the Antichrist Beast.
.
The 6th head of this first beast has to do with atheism and humanism, with all their various side-kick ideologies…
.
…Evolution, Socialism, Psychiatry, Psychology, Humanitarianism, and other aspects and devices and institutions which are used to indoctrinate people into these ideologies of Satan’s kingdom.
.
And when the 5th head (the apostate churches of Europe for 1260 years) received its deadly wound by God’s sword, the Bible, then appeared the 6th head (atheism, etc….).
.
Yes, just when that Romish apostate church (the 5th head) was stabbed by “the sword” (God’s Word, the “sword of the Spirit” Ephesians 6:17), then appeared Humanism (the 6th head) and its companion ideologies.
As we know, there were two beasts of Revelation, Chapter 13.
.
The first beast being the Popish church, the 5th head of the Antichrist Beast did “rise up out of the sea”Revelation 13:1(the sea of nations).
.
But there was a second beast, the False Prophet, “coming up out of the earth” Revelation 13:11.
.
This second beast had two horns like a lamb, yet spoke as a dragon.
.
But here’s the difficult part: You see, those two horns of this False Prophet are comprised of the 6th and 7th head of the first beast.
.
And so, the 2nd beast is really an integral part of the 1st beast.
.
Think of it as a deviant virus which splits away from its “mother virus”.
.
And as already mentioned, the 1st beast did “rise up out of the sea” (the sea of nations).
.
But since this 2nd beast, the False Prophet, “came up out of the earth”(symbolizing the industrial age and the earthy sins of the flesh), its behavior was very much different than the behavior of the 1st beast.
You see, the first beast brought war and famine and scarcity, and oppression upon Europe.
.
And many who loved the Bible were tortured, banished, imprisoned and murdered.
.
And Satan attempted to wipe out the Bible during these centuries.
.
But this 2nd beast exploited the riches from the earth to create a cornucopian/decadent super-society.
.
And instead of scarcity, this 2nd beast brought opulence, excess, materialism, hedonism, conservatism, and false miracles!
.
Like over-feeding mice until they explode! No longer did he need to torture, banish, imprison, and kill.
.
Opulence is a much more effective weapon to destroy God’s people!
.
Bibles were now everywhere, but most Christians were too busy in the world to seriously study them each day!
.
Now the 6th head, Humanism (or Secularism), began in Europe, but greatly rose to power in the USA.
.
But also, the 7th head, apostate Protestantism, also rose to power in the USA (Of course, these two heads of Antichrist, Humanism & Apostate Protestantism, eventually spread their tentacles in every direction around the globe.)
.
Now if the reader wants to more deeply explore all this, there are a number of articles on this website specifically devoted to this subject.
But today, only the 7th head of Antichrist will be looked at.

And just why are the evangelical churches considered to be the 7th head of Antichrist?
.
Well, all of a sudden, persecution stopped, and the world was now beginning to embrace the Church of God. And that was the crux of the problem!

Yes, whenever the world is our friend, you know that something’s wrong!

Listen to the Wise Man… “the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” Proverbs 27:6

And so, instead of coming at us with swords and spears, the world now began to come at Christians with spatulas and meat forks to invite them over for a barbecue!

You see, the prophet, Habakkuk, had a vision of Chaldeans (unbelievers) moving in, with leopard-like swiftness, to cancel out biblical Christianity.

Thus, by means of enveloping the Christian community with soul-destroying influences, to the degree that Christians lose their ability to make good solid biblical judgments.

And when we finally wake up (spiritually speaking) and realize that this antichrist world has become our enemy (that it actually is and always has been our enemy), God, through Habakkuk, commands us to “RUN”!

This most amazing phenomenon is seen throughout the winter.

Orion, the Dragon, and the Glorious White Horse are beginning to descend into the western horizon (this sketch is the Winter Constellations descending into western horizon. This can actually be seen as early as December, in the pre-dawn hours).
But the Wide Gate Stars are composed of the two brightest stars of the Auriga Constellation, known as the star, Capella, and the star, Menkalinan.

The two stars, Castor and Pollux, make up the concept of the Orion’s Narrow Gate Stars.

This can even be observed into June in the western sky (for a short time just after dark).

While a dark night is best for seeing the Woman Constellation, the 4 stars which comprise the Narrow Gate/Wide Gate Stars can be seen even under mediocre conditions.

It begins with the Fleeing Woman of Revelation 12 Constellation (AKA Ursa Major) going towards these two doors.

One of the most amazing creatures ever created is the Cuttlefish!

The reason why this creature is so incredible, is that it can just glance at its environment and instantly change its body to imitate that environment.

For instance, if it wants to hide from its enemies, or lie-in-wait for its victims, next to a seaweed, it simply changes its color, spots, and shape to imitate that seaweed.

It can even instantly grow leaf-like appendages to imitate certain seaweeds!
Conservative Christianity is amazed to see the world turning against them so rapidly.

We are even dumbfounded to behold a world-wide phenomenon in which Satan is working through unbelievers to burn down churches, while governments have little condemnation for such demonically hateful activity!

WHY ARE WE SURPRISED?

Now all this sudden change of mind should not surprise us.

It’s a cuttlefish world, after all!

Satan has merely been camouflaging the true nature of this world.

But like the cuttlefish, it was merely disguising itself until the moment it would strike its victim! Us!

There are many Christians who are likewise confused about what it means to love.
.
And in the May 16 devotional, the many qualities of love were spotlighted: self-sacrifice, patience, forgiveness, purity, temperance, honesty, and many other virtues are all part of true agape love, and cannot be separated or eliminated for there to be genuine love.
Now in today’s devotional, the spotlight will turn to the family…because, there is great confusion about just what is, “true, genuine love” for our children.
.
Yes, there are many parents who make the claim that, “I really love my kids!”
.
And some of these parents would actually lay down their lives for their children, if for example, they saw their children drowning.
The fact is, rather than devote their lives to patiently guiding their children on the upward heavenly pathway, many parents instead indulge themselves in nearly everything but that!
.
Yes, so many parents devote more time and energy to their needlessly high-paying careers, or to their personal hobbies, or to their entertainment, than they devote to their children.
.
And as a result, the children get pushed aside, or get seated in front of the TV, video games, or hand-held devices, or encouraged to go play with the neighborhood kids, or go to public schooling and endless sports programs.
.
And of course, Satan uses such circumstances to do his own brand of “child-rearing”.
And so, God has allowed this world to continue, from His great hope that Mankind might finally realize our error, and turn once again back to the Lord…
.
Listen… “For the creature was made subject to vanity (meaninglessness),
not willingly, but by reason of Him who hath subjected the same in hope,”
Romans 8:20
.
Yes, as this above verse reveals, God has allowed this world to continue these past thousands of years, for the express purpose of showing Mankind the error of our ways…
.
…but also to show Mankind the glory of Heaven’s government of “unselfish love”, as we look at Christ, and at the marvels of Creation.
Now, when we understand God’s over-arching purpose for allowing the world to continue, then we begin to understand what true love is.
.
And true love will cooperate with God’s eternal purpose, by working together Him, in leading others back to Heaven’s unselfish government.
.
And so, those households which have two believing parents, will want to show their children true love, beginning while the children are still young.
.
And such parents will have to stand up to the outside pressures from the world, and worldly Christians, to allow ungodly influences into their children’s daily life.
But the fact is, quite often, it is not made manifest just how terrible their role-model and example has been, until the child reaches his or her teens.
.
And by the time the poorly-trained child reaches those years, it is probably too late to undo the incredible damage which has been done upon that child for the past dozen or more years, by such self-indulgent parents.
*Change my own music to the most holy and heaven-like music.
.
*Stop watching TV myself, even if they refuse to give it up (We’re talking about rebellious teens. Younger children may be pliable enough to set back on a heavenward course).
.
*Give my own self to reading and listening to Scripture. Begin to pray and contemplate the Bible without ceasing!
.
*Rid my own life of spiritually-unhealthy worldly-minded associations.
.
*Create a Heaven-on-Earth in my home.
.
*Don’t “talk” my religion so much as “live” my religion. Because it is God who changes the hearts of wayward individuals.
.
But He will only do this for me, as I allow Him to burn away the dross from my heart and life.
Oh yes, there may be many fiery trials ahead, O Christian parent.
.
But it will all be worth the pain, as we witness others…“bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters (which) shall be carried upon their shoulders.” Isaiah 49:22
.
Yes, God has His own ways of bringing back our wayward children, back into His fold!
.
But right now, both you and I must begin to order our own lives aright, in the fear and service of Jesus Christ.

One would think that if there ever was a human who could make such a condemning statement about the world’s music, it would be someone of Bach’s great position in the world of music.
.
Well, isn’t it true that we live in a very proud world?
.
Yes, and the people here do not like to hear condemning statements about the things they hold in such high esteem.
So how did we get on this subject of Christian persecution, when this devotional was talking about J.S. Bach?
.
Well, because we are just now entering the last message to the world.
.
And God’s chosen few will be shedding the last remnants of our earthly skin, so to speak.
.
That is, God is calling out the re-fulfillment of Gideon’s faithful 300.
.
Remember that story? Gideon led the charge with those who were holding clay pitchers with burning lamps inside. And at his command, those soldiers each broke their pitchers, crying out… “The Sword of the Lord, and of Gideon!” (see Judges, Chapter 7)
.
Well, to make a long story short, the Hebrews, led by Gideon, defeated the enemy that night.
But just what does this story of Gideon have to do with the statement by Bach?
.
Well, just as those faithful 300 broke those clay vessels, so will we also, in these last moments of time!
.
Yes, the time is drawing near when God’s people will finally break this mortal body of clay, only to reveal our brightly burning heavenly lamps within.
.
And God will bring His faithful ones to victory over the world and over the flesh.
In other words, the hour is coming when those who have been faithfully studying their Bibles, in hopes of filling their hearts with the precious promises of Christ, will finally overcome the flesh (symbolized by the breaking of the clay jars).
.
And when this happens, the world (symbolized by the Midianites), will be surprised to see God’s people shining like the Sun (symbolized by those brightly burning lamps!)
.
When this happens, the victory will be won…
.
…the world will actually defeat itself, just like those Midianites began to fight against their own selves.
So once again, what in the world does all this have to do with J. S. Bach’s statement?…
…listen just once again…
“All music should have no other end and aim than the glory of God
and the soul’s refreshment;
where this is not remembered there is no real music
but only a devilish hubbub.”

Simple! Just as Bach stated that worldly music is only “a devilish hubbub”, so too, God’s people are just now being admonished to put away all devilish hubbub out of our lives!

And not just the devilish hubbub of worldly music, but all unchristlike behavior!

And we are to strive for all the world to see Christ and Christ only, as He shines out from our mortal bodies!
.
And if this is our sole purpose in life, then when the day comes for Gideon (Christ) to sound the battle trumpet, we will be among the faithful few who will cry out… “The Sword (The Bible) of the Lord, and of Gideon (Christ)!”
“In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword
shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent,
even leviathan that crooked serpent;
and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.”

There are many Christians who are likewise confused about what it means to love.
.
And there are many newcomers into Christianity who throw up their hands in discouragement and say, “I’m just going to love others! That’s all that Jesus wants or expects from us!”
We also begin to see God’s humility in coming down to this wicked evil world, and completely humbling Himself.
.
Jesus humbled Himself to the point of having others spit on Him, and mock Him, and put Him on the much-despised Cross, hanging there naked for all the world to see!
.
This was humility in all its splendor! Another quality of true love!
And of course, the Cross demanded a great faith in His Heavenly Father.
.
And that faith was severely tested to the point of His cry…“My God, my God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?” Mark 15:34.
.
At that point, the Father must have withdrawn His presence, to the degree that Jesus didn’t know if His Father had completely and forever forsaken Jesus.
.
And His unwavering faith is just another very important ingredient of true love!
Well, these are just some of the aspects which make up that word, “Agape”.
.
But agape love has other aspects to it, which we cannot now explore, for lack of time: longsuffering, meekness, temperance, holiness, quietness, generosity, self-denial, etc…
.
All these virtues (and more) make up the one great virtue of “Love”.
.
And without all these virtues present, there can be no real and true love.
And so, this is the quest for each and every Christian: to finally become filled with the multi-spectrum qualities of the Love of Christ.
.
But how do we do that? How in the world do we take hold of the love of Christ?
.
Well, the following verse is of great help… “Thy Word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against Thee.” Psalm 119:11
.
And so, the more we replace worldly wisdom with God’s precious words into our heart, the more that we become imperceptibly changed into the image of Christ Jesus.
.
And by hiding these words of God in our heart, the more easily can God’s Holy Spirit bring all things back to our remembrance.

So now it is revealed that the weapons of our warfare are able to completely subdue the carnal nature within our hearts, and bring every thought to the obedience of Christ.

WEAPONS IN RIGHT AND LEFT HAND

But here’s another verse from 2nd Corinthians about our weapons…
“By the word of truth,
by the power of God,
by the armor (weapons) of righteousness
on the right hand and on the left,”
2nd Corinthians 6:7

Now here it speaks of weapons in the plural…“weapons of righteousness”.
Do you remember the account of when Jonathan and his armor-bearer attacked an entire army?
.
Listen…
“And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour,
‘Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised:
it may be that the LORD will work for us:
for there is no restraint to the LORD to save by many or by few.'”
1st Samuel 14:6

So, these two faith-filled men decided to attack an entire army, and this began an earth-shaking chain of events which resulted in the Philistines defeating their own selves!
And so, the point is, that if only we Christians realized just what power we have at our disposal, Christianity would look much different than it does today!

Listen to the dismal report from Isaiah, regarding the New Testament Church…
“We have been with child,
we have been in pain,
we have as it were brought forth wind;
we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth;
neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.”
Isaiah 26:18

Here is one of the saddest commentaries about the Church, found in the entire Bible!

We have failed to bring forth Christ, both collectively and individually.
.
But also, this verse infers that the inhabitants of the world could have been conquered in the name of Christ…
.
…completely defeated, if only we would have fulfilled our great commission to become transformed into the image of Jesus, both collectively and individually!
The pagan cultures saw this incredible constellation as a hunter, with a club.

Well, they weren’t too far off. Actually, God created it to appear like a soldier. This is because all nature presents aspects of the Gospel.

Listen…“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows his handiwork.” Psalm 19:1.

And so now we are amazed to discover that beyond the awesome grandeur of the starry night-heavens, God has actually written the Love of God upon the heavenly scroll!
Orion Constellation can best be seen all winter (but even in August in the pre-dawn hours of morning in eastern skies) traveling east to west through the night, in mid-sky.

To find the seven major stars of Orion (one star on each shoulder and one star on each foot, plus the three stars which make his belt), you can locate on just about any clear night regardless of the blackness of the night.
.
To find Orion’s other stars, you need more star-visibility…a darker, moonless night, and possibly away from city lights.

Look at it this way. Let’s suppose that in the middle of your town, there was a fountain with a sign on it that read… “Drink this water and you will live forever!”

But hardly anybody in that town stopped and took a drink!
.
Doesn’t that sound crazy?
.
But that’s exactly the situation we have in this world! God offers the living water of Salvation to anyone willing to drink!
.
But hardly anyone sees the value in living forever!
And remember that we are admonished to partake of the, “Fruit of the Spirit”? Galatians 5:22, 23.
.
But so many of those who are called, rather get so absorbed in the cares and pleasures of everyday life, that we fail to nourish ourselves up in the daily study and hour-by-hour contemplation of God’s Word.
And the same thing goes for partaking of the “meat of the Word”.

There are many who have been attending church for years, but still are, “babes in Christ”. They, “have need of milk, and not of strong meat.” Hebrews 5:12
.
And so, all such go without the strong meat of the Word!
It is imperative that every Christian soldier fully understands, that over the last several hundred years, Satan has changed his strategy against the Church.
.
While in former centuries, he brought the Church into deprivation, torture and death, famine and want, he now has found a far more effective means of destroying God’s people: to flood this world with every conceivable luxury and amusement and entrepreneurial career endeavor!
.
There are a multitude of deceptive and deadly diversions in this world!
The very Good News is, that the door of Salvation is still open!
.
Signs Of Heaven recommends that each and every one of us should begin to fully immerse ourselves in God’s Word throughout our day.
.
There are modern devices, that we can listen to the many audio Bibles available.
.
And even when we cannot listen to these, we can still contemplate on what we have previously been listening to, like this man in this photo, who is wearing earphones while he works (making sure to not endanger ourselves, or others, by inordinate use of such devices, such as while driving in traffic).

And we can also begin to pray that God will mercifully allow us to eliminate all unnecessary activities from our lives, that we might spend time studying our Bible.
.
And then we might begin to silently and discreetly pray as we go about our daily duties.
And perhaps, the most amazing fact in the world is, that God is very forgiving.

And those of us who have failed so miserably in the past, can cry out for God to allow us to finally come and partake of His great supper, in which, “all things are now ready”!
“Dear Lord, Wake me up to the peril all around! Let me no longer keep eating from the world’s trough, and no longer drinking of the world’s broken cisterns! Bring me into the wedding banquet which is now ready…

But it’s not a wonderful world! Just the opposite! It’s a tragically sad world!

As we go through our daily routine, perhaps more than 7,000 people die every hour around the world! 7,000 people an hour! And that’s just a conservative estimate!
.
We go about our daily duties, not realizing that 80+ people commit suicide every hour (also probably an extremely conservative estimate!)
.
As we ring in each new year, a million people around the world have been abducted and sold into slavery this past year.
.
Millions become addicted to drugs and alcohol each year
.
Millions of babies are aborted each year.
.
Millions of murders, rapes, beatings, thefts.
.
Millions become ill around the world.
.
And then, we turn on some movie which tries to sell us on the notion that, “It’s a Wonderful Life”.

LUCIFER: GOD OF THIS WORLD
.
The fact is, this world was high-jacked long ago by Satan and his followers, after they rebelled from Heaven’s government of agape-love.
.
And all this, after Lucifer convinced a third of the angels that he had a better way to achieve happiness.
.
Of course, God knew better, but allowed this rebellion to continue, knowing that it would eventually expose itself for the fraud and failure that it truly is!
.
And so, God diverted Lucifer and his fellow rebels to this Planet Earth, and allowed this rebellion to continue to run its course, for all the host of Heaven to observe.
And so, here we are. And as that currently popular mantra says… “How’s your world-of-sin working out for you?”
.
Thus, in these last days of earth’s history, Satan has flooded the world with all sorts of propaganda to convince us that this horrible world is, “a pretty nice place, after all!”
.
Well, maybe it’s a wonderful life for a few “George Baileys” out there (wonderful, at least for a few years, until some tragedy strikes!)
.
Therefore, it shouldn’t be a surprise that such movies as, “It’s a Wonderful Life”, came together so “magically”.
.
Yes, with television, Satan can take a sympathetic storyline, and some fresh-faced actors, along with some colorful lighting, and appropriate background music, and make this tragic world seem like really great place to live!
But God has chosen a group of earth’s citizens, to become ambassadors for Heaven.
.
Yes, that’s their job.
.
And it is their commission to call out to mankind, in hopes that some will hear and respond and turn away from this dying world, and turn back to God and His government of unselfish love.
Unfortunately, many of those who have been called, have bought into Satan’s big lie.
.
Yes, many, or perhaps most of those whom God has called to become ambassadors for Heaven have been deceived by false gospels, which offer Heaven in one hand, and this selfish world in the other hand.
.
Listen…“Love not the world,
neither the things that are in the world.
If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
For all that is in the world,
the lust of the flesh,
and the lust of the eyes,
and the pride of life,
is not of the Father, but is of the world.
And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof:
but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”
1st John 2:15-17

But God isn’t offering both worlds. He wants us to choose one world or the other. Because you cannot love this present selfish world and love Heaven too!
“Dear Lord, Let me not be deceived by the god of this world. But open my eyes that I might see this world for what it really is, that I may come out, and live for Heaven…

Now, the author of this article goes on to use the movie, “Indiana Jones”, as a model which we could use, when bringing up our children.

In other words, just as Indiana Jones, an otherwise stuffy college professor, combined his ivy-covered classroom lectures, by doubling as a real-life adventurist and soldier-of-fortune.

He didn’t just teach by boring books, but actually lived real-life adventures out there in the big wide world!
While this website agrees to a certain extent with the author’s premise that kids need to see a living, active religion of faith in their lives…

…there is little agreement that real-life Christianity must be combined with some sort of Indiana Jones thrill-seeking adventurism all across the globe.
.
Reading in this article about this parent who wants to write his child’s story, by taking the child to different places around the country (and around the world)…
.
…is somewhat in contrast to the rather mundane upbringing which resulted in the most wonderful story ever written on the heart of a child.
Yes, the most wonderful story ever written, was written upon the heart of a boy who had a rather boring upbringing: well, boring by the standards of the author of that critical Internet article.
.
And so, what child’s heart had written upon it the most wonderful story ever written?
.
Of course, that heart belonged to the child, Jesus!
.
And this most wonderful story was written on the heart of a boy who was merely the product of lowly home-schooling!
And contrary to the exciting life of Indiana Jones, the Parents of Jesus never traveled much more than 70 miles at any one time!
.
Rather, the most exciting experience for Jesus the boy, were the thrice-yearly religious festivals in Jerusalem, to which his parents always took Him.
.
Yes, there were great companies of Israelites traveling there on foot, with their families, as they joined in together in songs and in laughter, and in joyful Christian fellowship, occasionally stopping along the way, to break bread.
Beside this, the parents of Jesus gathered their children around the family altar each morning and evening to read, pray and sing (Of course, Jesus spent a lot of time on his own, reading the Bible and praying.)
.
And other than that, Jesus began working early on, in his father’s carpentry trade.
And the parents of course, sheltered themselves, but also sheltered Jesus, as far as possible, from evil influences which Satan attempted to poison their household with.
.
Yes, it’s a big wide world out there! But Satan is its ruler! (See 2nd Corinthians 4:4)
.
And you can just imagine how hard Satan tried, on a daily basis, to penetrate that holy bulwark surrounding the home of Jesus!
.
But by sincere prayer and personal consecration to God, Joseph and Mary, Jesus’ two earthly role-models, kept those walls around their home as solid as they possibly could against the attacks of the relentless enemy, always lurking close-by in the shadows!

But now, this very short Psalm 1 concludes by saying this…
…”The ungodly are not so:
but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous:
but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”
Psalm 1:4-6

So here in this above passage is revealed the ultimate destruction which results from not living by the first two verses of Psalm 1.
.
And those who fail to live by the first two verses of Psalm 1 will not stand in the Judgment just before us, as spoken of in the last verses of that Psalm!
.
They will be driven away like the chaff in the wind! (As you can see in this above photo, this woman is allowing the wind to drive away the chaff from the wheat.)
But we who are desiring to breeze through the coming crisis ahead, must, in addition to avoiding the miry cesspool of sin all around us, keep our minds fixed upon God’s Word!
.
Our thoughts must be far above the fray, if we are going to stand on that proverbial, “sea of glass”, amidst the fiery trials before us!
.
We need to be sitting “together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:” Ephesians 2:6
.
And of course, such a mindset can only be possible through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit!
.
And so, we must dispense with all the worldly distractions which prevent such a 24/7/365 contemplation of God’s Word!
Therefore, those who wish to breeze right through the coming, “time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time:”Daniel 12:1, must not wait to have this Psalm 1 experience!
.
We can begin right now, exactly where we are!
.
We must keep our head above the filthiness and pettiness so prevalent in everyday life.
.
But in addition, we must begin to make God’s Words the very steppingstones of our daily upward pathway!
.

“I WILL KEEP THEE FROM THE HOUR…”

And by so-doing, we will no doubt, just breeze our way through the coming crisis, when it finally arrives!

It is told that a certain infamous Hollywood actor had the admirable quality of “keeping his head above the fray”, as the expression goes.
.
Yes, this legendary hero of the silver screen had the reputation of keeping himself “above the fray”…
.
…above all the gossip and pettiness and politics, and all the bickering and the backbiting which commonly occurs behind the scenes on the movie sets of Hollywood.
And so, let’s review the first three admonishments again from Psalm 1…
.
Listen… “Blessed is the man that…
…1. walks not in the counsel of the ungodly…
…2. nor stands in the way of sinners…
…3. NOR SITS IN THE SEAT OF THE SCORNFUL.”
.
Yes, these above three sins are the premier sins which lead a Christian into apostasy!
.
Notice that the first warns not to “Walk”.
.
The second warns not to “stand”, and the third warns not to “sit”.
.
And so, the hidden message here is that these three sins are the backward regression which occurs when a churchgoer backslides step-by-step into apostasy.
.
(As you can see in this Judgment Day cartoon, this man is no longer running the Christian Race, but has instead, decided to sit back and enjoy all the pleasures of this life. He has filled his life with the cares and pleasures of this selfish world, and no longer maintains a watchful vigilance!

SCORNING OTHERS
.
And so, the third admonition is every bit as important as the first two…“nor sits in the seat of the scornful”.

If there is anything that will quickly kill the Christian life, it is, “scorning others!”
.
This sin is borne of pride. And there is probably nothing that God hates worse than pride!
.
Now the Devil understands this, and he will work hard to put the unwary Christian into situations which are conducive to gossiping.

SATAN STEALS OUR PERFECT PEACE
.
One great problem with listening to Satan’s whisperings, is that this is an avenue by which the “Accuser of the Brethren” can gain access into our hearts and minds.

And once we allow him access, he often begins to torment us with all sorts of “evil surmisings” about the thoughts and motives of others. (1st Timothy 6:4)
.
We must remember the Wise Man’s advice…
…”Keep thy heart with all diligence;
for out of it are the issues of life.
Put away from thee a froward mouth,
and perverse lips put far from thee.
Let thine eyes look right on,
and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
Ponder the path of thy feet,
and let all thy ways be established.
Turn not to the right hand nor to the left:
remove thy foot from evil.”
Proverbs 4:24-27

Yes, to guard the avenues to the soul, not allowing Satan any access, is our first and foremost duty!

MANY VERSES ABOUT SCORNERS & MOCKERS

Listen… “The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked…
Surely He scorneth the scorners:
but He giveth grace unto the lowly.”
Proverbs 3:33, 34

Here is just one of many passages which warn against scorning others.
.
And those who engage in scorning are putting themselves in position to be judged!
.
But those who are lowly in heart, God will give grace.
Listen to Isaiah, when speaking of the Day of the Lord…
…”For the day of the LORD of hosts
shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty,
and upon every one that is lifted up;
and he shall be brought low:”
Isaiah 2:12
.
So here we see that the Day of the Lord is upon every one that is, “proud and lofty”.
.
Therefore, if we can ever expect to breeze right through the day of the Lord, the very first thing we would want to eliminate from our lives would be the sins of pride, such as mocking and scorning others!
Yes, how in the world can we ever expect to breeze right through the Day of the Lord, if we are engaging in proud and lofty scorning of others?
.
Not only will we NOT escape the judgment of God, but instead, we proud scorners will become the very object of God’s wrath on that terrible day!
.
And so, the great lesson to be learned in today’s devotional, is that all four of the admonishments found in Psalm 1 are equally important, if we expect to breeze right through the coming crisis!
And thus, that Hollywood actor had the right idea, by keeping his head above the fray, when on movie sets.
.
And the Christian would do well to imitate this actor’s one virtue, in our own everyday life. (Perhaps he had other virtues as well!)
.
If we ever expect to be able to meditate (contemplate) upon God’s Word, day and night, we must be careful to not bring the curse of God down upon our head, by engaging in proud scorning!

This constellation is made of the Big Dipper, also called the Great Bear constellation (Ursa Major ).
.
However, the ancient pagan cultures did not see this constellation as God intended it to be seen.
.
It is actually a headless woman in childbirth.
.
This is seen in springtime.
.
It is seen in the northern skies.
.
But as the seasons progress, this travailing woman flips upside down, now appearing as a woman with upraised arms like eagle wings who is running (eventually flying, as shown in sketch on right) into the wilderness (westward).

So much of the Old Testament was dedicated to God’s commanding His people against mingling with the heathen nations, but rather to “drive out the inhabitants”!
.
But God repeatedly gave His people this same commandment, in hopes of really driving home the point about not mingling with unbelievers…
.
Listen… “But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you;
then it shall come to pass,
that those which ye let remain of them
shall…vex you in the land wherein ye dwell….”
Numbers 33:55, 56 (Condensed)
.
As this passage reveals, God is very serious about Christians maintaining a separation from the world, as far as possible.
Everywhere we look, the Devil is now coming in like a flood, with TV, Internet and high-tech devices, and so-called, “political correctness”, all in effort to brainwash both us and our children!
.
God’s people are mostly helpless to raise their children in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord”, because of the power of these devices!
.

HIDE THYSELF
.
And so, just what does the Bible command us to do?
.
How can we possibly escape this horrible and impossible situation?
.
After all, we just can’t flee to the wilderness.
.
There are simply too many laws prohibiting us from doing that!
.
Listen to Scripture… “Come, My people, enter thou into thy chambers,
and shut thy doors about thee:
hide thyself as it were for a little moment,
until the indignation be overpast.
For, behold, the LORD cometh out of His place
to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity:
the earth also shall disclose her blood,
and shall no more cover her slain.”
Isaiah 26:20, 21
.
So God will have His faithful ones to seek the shelter of our chambers, to hide ourselves from the approaching storm, till that storm of God’s wrath is overpast.

So here is a very important ingredient to how we might just breeze through the terrible storm which is to come upon the whole world.

But how are we to hide ourselves?

And what chambers are we to hide in?

Listen… “For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion:
in the secret of His tabernacle shall He hide me;
He shall set me up upon a Rock.
And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me…
Thou art my hiding place and my shield: I hope in Thy Word.”
Psalm 27:4-6 & Psalm 119:114

Here is given the formula for breezing through the time of trouble!

And here is the hiding place for God’s people in these last days!
