Amongst the many popular sayings commonly spoken of in society, the phrase, “Great balls of fire” first began to be commonly used by preachers and evangelists back in the mid-1800’s.

Even Ellen White had a vision of God’s Judgment Day, back in 1904, in which she later recounted…
…”Great balls of fire were falling upon houses,
and from these balls fiery arrows were flying in every direction.
It was impossible to check the fires that were kindled,
“The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood”
Proverbs 12:6
.
But sadly, this phrase, “great balls of fire” became the object of Satan’s hateful sophistry, taking the alarming sting out of such a dreadful description of God’s final wrath upon a rebellious planet.

And let’s face it, all such mockeries come right out of Satan’s playbook, in his attempt to make the Bible as irrelevant, diminished, distrusted, and dishonored as possible!

A LEWD SONG FOR A DECAYING SOCIETY
.
Now, as far as that “Great balls of fire” phrase, Satan allow such a frightening description to go unchecked.
.
No, but rather, he wrote one of the very first Rock-N-Roll songs (working through several secular songwriters), giving it an even more crude, even a lewd connotation!
.
And even though “Great balls of fire” is no longer such a common exclamation-remark, this lewd, decades-old song, “Great balls of fire”, is still, occasionally being jokingly bandied about as a lewd inuendo!
“Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven”
Genesis 19:24
.
But the fact is, the Bible does indeed mention such a phenomenon.
.
That is, in the Book of Genesis, God destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, raining down fire & brimstone.
.
Nevertheless, around the watery graveyard of those cities (once-great & once-fertile cities now immersed beneath the Dead Sea)…
.
…countless remnants of those great balls of fiery brimstone are still embedded in the surrounding miles of landscape.
.
And there are Internet videos showing researchers finding and igniting some of the countless thousands of remnants!
.
In those videos you can witness them lighting the sulfur-balls on fire with a match, thus silencing most skeptics who cast doubt on the biblical account of Sodom’s destruction!

For instance, both White and Camping taught that the time would come for God to call His faithful people out of Babylon, the apostate churches and denominations.

She taught that this time would come in the future, and 150 years later, Camping taught that the time had now fully arrived to, “Come out of her, My people”. Revelation 18:4

And truth-be-told, from the time that the 1844 announcement of Christ’s Return was trumpeted (frequently referred to as, “The Great Disappointment of 1844”) until Camping pronounced it time to “come out of Babylon”, in 1994, exactly 150 years had passed, almost to the day! UNCANNY INSIGHT AND AMAZING KNOWLEDGE

Now of course, since Ellen White made this prediction of a future call to come out of Babylon, back in the mid-nineteenth century, her uncanny insight into our present distress was nothing less than a gift and revelation from God!

And yet, Harold Camping’s vast knowledge of the Scriptures and its prophecies, made his ministry equally as amazing.
.
Yes, Camping opened up these prophecies, which were greatly veiled in both testaments, revealing them to his listeners on a nightly basis.
And in her Chapter 38, “The Final Warning”, she foretells that the 2nd Angel’s Message would unite with 3rd Angel’s Message, which, actually, is now occurring.

And she also foretold that the 3rd Angel’s message would extend beyond her insight into other areas, which it definitely has!

And this prediction is only confirmed when the reader explores the third angel’s message as is being currently presented!

Yes, the third angel’s message is presented in a much broader fulfillment than Ellen White could see back in her day!
This is just another proof of the veracity of her ministry, since she accurately foretold of the broader end-time message to come (she also accurately predicted that the 7th Day Sabbath would be proclaimed “more fully”, which is now happening (see Great Controversy and/or Early Writings))!

In yesterday’s devotional (click here), the message of the three angels of Revelation 14 was mentioned, with a quick synopsis of just why God gave those messages, and what they were about.
But yesterday’s devotional also mentioned the Old Testament sanctuary service, and how it relates to the 2300-day prophecy of Daniel 8:14, “…Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.”
And then it was also mentioned that Ellen White explained in her chapter, “The Sanctuary Service”from “The Great Controversy”, that the 2300 days until the cleansing of the sanctuary was fulfilled in the Adventist movement.
But while Ellen White laid out the basic understanding of how the sanctuary service was pointing forward to the genesis of the Adventist movement in 1844, our understanding of the sanctuary being cleansed is now seen in a much greater light!
It is the revelation that each and every true worshiper of God is part of God’s sanctuary, even as it is written…
“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God,
and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?”
1st Corinthians 3:16

Here is a profound truth which reveals that God’s Elect people, together, make up God’s temple.

Okay, so those in Berea were more noble, because they:

1. “Received the Word with all readiness of mind.”

And so, the Bereans were ready to receive new teachings, which no doubt, conflicted with the supposed, “orthodox” teachings of that day.

Thus there was an open-mindedness which permeated their hearts, and a willingness to search the Scriptures daily, in hopes that these seemingly new teachings were indeed true!
But now there is no more time for sleeping! This is the very hour of trial for God’s people.

This is the foretold time of the 3rd Angel’s Message.

It’s not just a mere wake-up call like before.
.
This is the time when Jesus calls out…“Rise up, let us go” Mark 14:42
.
Yes, we are now in the ante-type fulfillment of when those prophetic scenes back in the garden of Gethsemane will be re-enacted, only on a church-wide scale.

There will be no more dry runs. This is the real thing!
.
This is the Time of Jacob’s Trouble.

This is the Day of the Lord.
.
The Hour of Testing.

The Great and Terrible Day of the Lord.

And God is calling His sleeping saints to wake up and get our spiritual armor on!

In the 25th chapter of Ellen White’s book, “The Great Controversy Between Christ and Satan”, the author discusses the 7th-Day Sabbath and how it was unlawfully changed to Sunday.

And the history recited in this chapter gives the reader a clear-eyed account of how Satan employed the apostate churches of Europe to affect the changing of the 7th-Day Sabbath to the 1st day of the week.
But along with history past, the author then proceeds into history future, in which the United States of America is proclaimed to eventually become the second beast-like power of Revelation 13, which the Revelation refers to as, “The False Prophet”. Revelation 20:10

And this chapter goes on to say that the United States will eventually force the inhabitants of the world to worship the 1st Beast by their observance of the 1st Day, instead of the 7th Day Sabbath.

AN UNCANNY FORECAST OF THE FUTURE!

Well, this prediction by the author is nothing less than amazing, considering that it was written over 130 years ago, when the United States was still holding true to Christianity, to a certain extent.
.
And isn’t it so true that we are right now seeing a rapid transformation of this nation into an immoral Sodom-like society?
.
And Ellen White’s prediction that this would all happen, places a great exclamation mark on the validity of her oft-maligned ministry.
“WE WENT FORTH AND PROCLAIMED THE SABBATH MORE FULLY”
.
But in regard to the 7th Day Sabbath, she wrote in another place…“And at the commencement of the time of trouble, we were filled with the Holy Ghost as we went forth and proclaimed the Sabbath more fully.
This enraged the churches and nominal Adventists, as they could not refute the Sabbath truth.
And at this time God’s chosen all saw clearly that we had the truth, and they came out and endured the persecution with us.”

Notice that she said here that just prior to the end, the Sabbath would be proclaimed “more fully”.
.
And this proclamation would enrage “the churches and nominal Adventists”.
Well, if there is one thing that nominal Adventists almost totally agree on, is that the 7th Day Sabbath is from sundown Friday night to sundown on Saturday!
.
In other words, when the Sabbath is proclaimed “more fully”, nominal Adventists will be enraged.
.
But why will this enrage them?
.
Because the third angel’s message proclaims that the true Sabbath is not merely a one-day-per-week rest from physical labor, but instead, a 24/7/365 spiritual rest!
.
In other words, the true Sabbath is summed up in the verse which says, “Christ in you, the hope of glory” Colossians 1:27.
Yes, it is the indwelling of Christ, via the Holy Spirit which constitutes the true Sabbath Rest that remains “to the people of God.” (see Hebrews 4:9)
.
And most nominal Adventists are very vocal advocates of the letter of the law concerning the 4th Commandment.
.
And they would absolutely recoil at the mere suggestion that the Sabbath was fulfilled in Christ, Him now becoming our true Sabbath Rest.
.
But listen to Jesus…
“Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.
Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; f
or I am meek and lowly in heart:
and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For My yoke is easy,
and My burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
.
This above invitation given straight from the lips of Jesus, calls all who are weary and heavy burdened to come and learn all about Him, taking His light yoke upon themselves, and wearing it as they follow Him by faith!

In the fulness of prophetic time, God raised up Ellen G. White to bring to the world the messages of the three angels of Revelation 14.

This three-fold message was to correct many of the errors which the apostate churches of Europe had brought into God’s House over the long centuries after Christ’s ascension.
And these three messages would also set a straight course for the Church, giving them a sense of direction into the future, up until Christ’s return, to bring His people to God.

In other words, the messages of the three angels, as presented by Ellen White was to present, in the simplest terms, just where God’s true Church had come from, and where they were going.

…to the second persecution by the Romish Church…

Well, as we all know, this message was rejected by the vast majority of the church-world.

There just weren’t enough “Noble Bereans” who would prayerfully and with a willing heart and an open mind, “search the scriptures daily whether those things were so” Acts 17:11.

And Satan worked overtime to ensure that the churches and denominations would become totally prejudiced against these messages.
Now concerning the cleansing of the sanctuary, Ellen White presented how the prophecy of the 2300 days would be fulfilled, as foretold in Daniel, Chapter 8.

And in the 32-minute audio chapter toward the bottom of this page, the timeline is carefully laid out in which the daily and yearly service of the sanctuary is shown, and how it was pointing forward to the Adventist movement.

A SOLA SCRIPTURA THEOLOGIAN

Mr. Camping was NOT groomed by the apostate seminaries of our day, but instead, diligently compared “line upon line”, and “spiritual things with spiritual” to ultimately discover truth.

So, instead of quoting this author or that commentary, Camping merely quoted the Bible in his 90-minute nightly call-in talk show and his 25-minute daily Bible studies.
.
He loved the Bible more than life itself, and sang its praises night after night, for over 50 years, well into his 90’s, even to his very last days!
Now of course, Satan knew that Camping’s ministry would eventually lead to the call to “Come out of her (Babylon), My people”…
.
…and so, this master-deceiver raised up many impostors who made similar time predictions, which obviously failed.
.
And in so-doing, Lucifer caused the church-world to become even more hardened against the idea that Babylon was actually the world (which included the world-loving churches).
.
But because Camping’s message included the pronunciation that the local congregations were an integral part of Babylon, the World…
.
…Satan had little trouble raising the prideful ire and disdainful anger of most every local congregation and denomination around the world!
And let’s not forget that Satan’s main office is that of being, “the accuser of our brethren” (Revelation 12:10).

ANY NOBLE BEREANS OUT THERE?

Now, amidst all the current-day apostasy and hard-hearted unbelief, God still has a faithful remnant whose ears are open to receiving further truth…

…even though, those truths may often rub against grain of the present-day doctrines of the so-called “orthodoxy”.

And these faithful ones are the “Noble-Bereans”, who aren’t afraid to search the Scriptures, daily, and even monthly…

…open-mindedly searching in hopes that this new message is from God and not merely the product of human thought.

Yes, God will bring His faithful remnant through these end-time messages symbolized by the three angels of Revelation 14, as well as the angel of Revelation 18.

No, Harold Camping was not an angel, but a very fallible, human messenger, who wasn’t perfect in his understanding, but nonetheless had been given much insight into many of the deeper truths of Scripture!
But praise God that He has graciously extended the final Day of the Lord, to allow God’s people to search out these matters.

If Christ had actually come on May 21st, 2011, practically none of us would have been prepared to meet our God in peace!

Much to the contrary, we were mostly steeped in eating and drinking and the cares and pleasures of this life, even to the point of losing our soul!

And so, let none of God’s true sheep feel a smug self-assurance regarding Camping’s supposed error.

God merely allowed that seemingly failed trumpet call to be a preparation-day wake-up call for His true remnant church to get our heavenly armor on and prepare to stand in the final battle!

Okay, so those in Berea were more noble, because they:
.
1. “Received the Word with all readiness of mind.”
.
2.“And searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
.
And so, the Bereans were ready to receive new teachings, which no doubt, conflicted with the supposed, “orthodox” teachings of that day.
.
Thus, there was an open-mindedness which permeated their hearts, and a willingness to search the Scriptures daily, in hopes that these seemingly new teachings were indeed true!
Many accusations have been leveled over the past decades against Ellen G. White by the so-called “orthodox” churches, and even by some within the 7th-Day Adventist Church.
.
Some criticisms have been petty, while other accusations have been somewhat more serious.
.
But for those of us who have tried to be “good Bereans” by thoroughly researching her life, we realize how hollow most or perhaps all of those accusations really are!
Now of course, we understand that Satan is the real “accuser”.
.
And in his role as “Accuser-In-Chief”, Satan has done a marvelous job over the past 2,000 years in besmirching, belittling, mocking, accusing, and in concise terms, casting mud upon God’s people…
…”And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven…
the accuser of our brethren is cast down,
which accused them before our God, day and night.”
Revelation 12:10
.
This above verse reveals that Satan does not cease, nor ever has, from casting false accusations down upon truth and upon those who speak Bible truth!
And so, it should be no surprise that from the time of the Roman emperors, to the raising up of the ruthless and apostate churches of Europe…
.
…to plaguing such reformers as Martin Luther with some fanatical followers, the Church-elect has suffered at the cruel hand of Satan and his vast armies, both human and angelic.
.
And day-and-night, this ardent foe of Heaven has come as an “angel of light”, along with his so-called, “ministers of righteousness”, false brethren, to stigmatize God’s people in the eyes of the onlooking world. (See 2nd Corinthians 11:14, 15)
Now in Ellen White’s day, Satan (who is a masterful Bible student), knew that God was soon going to raise up her ministry to proclaim the 3-Angel’s message.
.
And so, he wasted no time raising up several cults in a largely successful counterattack to confuse the onlooking world concerning her heavenly-ordained ministry.
.
Yes, and these so-called “cults” had similar aspects to her ministry, thus making it very confusing and difficult for the unlearned multitudes, to discern between them.
.
And let’s face it! These cults also had some obviously false doctrines mingled into their teachings which were generally a real “turn-off” to anyone who was familiar with the basic fundamental doctrines of the Bible.
“ORTHODOX” CHURCHES TRADE AWAY TRUTH FOR TRADITION
.
But in addition to their false teachings, Satan included some truths which the apostate churches of Europe had long-before discarded…
.
…such truths as the true nature of Hell, actually being “The Grave”, which was traded away for the Catholic false doctrine of “Eternal Torment”.
(This was the result of taking out of context, a few passages, while ignoring scores of other passages which speak of Hell as “The Grave”.)
.
And so now, all anyone had to do was say…“Hey, every cult shares this same teaching regarding Hell being the grave!”
.
And so, since these “cults” mostly all reject ‘Eternal Torment’, they cast even further aspersion on Ellen White’s assertion that the Bible teaches that Hell is the grave and is the true eternal destiny for all rejecters of Salvation.
Well, God obviously allowed Satan to raise up those look-alike gospels.
.
And of course, this stumbling block makes it even more difficult for churchgoers to discern between the true and the counterfeit.
.
But those who are truly “Noble Bereans” will, by the grace of God, continue to search “the Scriptures daily, to see whether those things were so”. Acts 17:11

So, in this little series, the subject of those noble Bereans has been introduced. And today, it is still worthy of a little more exploration into another area of concern.

Let’s look at the key Bible passage…
“These (Bereans) were more noble than those in Thessalonica,
in that they received the word with all readiness of mind,

This above passage was one which Mrs. White took to heart!

And neither Jesus, nor John, nor Paul, nor any of the other writers of the Bible made any jokes, jests, nor engaged in any lightness or frivolity anywhere in the Bible!

No, not one instance, even though many preachers will wrestle with some scriptures to deceitfully imply some joke made by Jesus or someone else in Scripture!
Now listen to her very own words in her paraphrase of Ephesians 5…
“There is nothing gloomy in the religion of Jesus…
…while all lightness, trifling, and jesting…
…which the apostle says are not convenient, are to be studiously avoided…
…there is a sweet rest and peace in Jesus that will be expressed in the countenance…
…Christians will not be mournful, depressed, and despairing…
…They will be sober-minded…
…yet they will show to the world a cheerfulness which only grace can impart.”

And all those who are familiar with her life fully understand that Ellen White lived by these words!

While daily engaging in charitable deeds in her community…
…to spending tireless hours writing letters…
…to cheer up and encourage her many friends…
…to her countless other endeavors such as starting colleges and hospitals and churches,
Ellen White exhibited cheerfulness even during her times of physical pain!
.
But all those “Noble Bereans” out there will want to begin to search “the Scriptures daily” in hopes of matching up her writings and even her life to the only infallible test of truth, the Bible!

A great part of the test which is coming upon the Church in these last moments of time is to be able to accept these three messages, which seemingly appear to have discrepancies between each other.
.
Yet, the Bible is a complicated Book, written by a complex God. And thus, there are…
One such seeming error concerns the 7th-day Sabbath of the 1st Angel’s message.
.
Well, because the 1st Angel’s message proclaimed the everlasting Gospel, the 7th-Day Sabbath was given in terms of “the letter of the Law”.
.
And of course, the 7th-Day Sabbath, according to the letter of the Law is indeed a “one day per week event”!
.
Yes, from Friday at sundown to Saturday at sundown was the day which God ordained as the 7th-Day Sabbath.
.
But then, in the 2nd Angel’s message, the 7th-Day Sabbath was more fully proclaimed, now revealed as a spiritual rest in which a soul obtains Salvation totally by God’s grace, without performing any human works.
But while the 1st message presented the 7th-day Sabbath according to the letter of the Law, the 2nd message revealed the spiritual nature of the 7th-Day Sabbath.
But as already proclaimed in today’s devotional, these 3 messages were not infallible.
.
For instance, while the 2nd Angel’s message rightly proclaimed the spiritual nature of the 7th-Day Sabbath…
.
…yet, the 2nd message wrongly proclaimed a supposed new Sabbath which continues from midnight to midnight on the 1st day of the week, commonly referred to as the “Sunday Sabbath”, or “The Lord’s Day”.
.
Of course, this new, spurious Sunday Sabbath, originally, was the brainchild of the Roman Catholic Church and has no foundation in the Bible.
.
But later, God then corrected this error with the 3rd Angel’s message.
As a matter of fact, there are other similar errors and seeming errors in the 1st Angel’s and 2nd Angel’s messages.
.
And so, God raised up the 3rd Angel’s message to clear up much of the confusion about these discrepancies as well as any seeming discrepancies.
.
Now, of course, by no means should the 3rd Angel’s message be regarded as infallible.
.
And so, the truth-loving Bible student has his or her work cut out for themselves, to prayerfully study the only infallible word of truth, in hopes of rightly discerning these three messages of unfolding Bible truths.
Now one reason why God permitted errors to appear in these three messages is to allow enough pegs for all skeptics to hang their doubts and criticisms upon.
The Good News is, that God’s people will more and more learn to place complete confidence in the Bible, and never place complete trust in mere mortal men!
.
Listen…“The lofty looks of man shall be humbled,
and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down,
and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.
For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty,
and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low…
Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils:
for wherein is he to be accounted of?”
Isaiah 2:11, 12, 22
.
As this above passage proclaims, the Day of the Lord will not exalt any mere human!
.
And yet, make no mistake! These three messages together present very wonderful and biblical truths: truths which have been ignored, rejected, or slighted by the mainstream church-world.
.
And these three messages reveal how Bible prophecy has been unfolding throughout the church-era.
And so, each and every truth-loving, “Noble Berean” will study, day-by-day, week-by-week, and even month-by-month in hopes that these three messages are indeed heaven-sent messages!
.
And to put a giant exclamation mark on these three messages, God has written His divine signature upon these messages via the “signs in the Sun…Moon…and…stars” Luke 21:25.
.
And all those who are open-minded, and lovers of truth can begin to see this Divine signature, thus proving the authenticity of these three messages!
.

…”And there shall be signs in the sun,
and in the moon, and in the stars;
and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity;
the sea and the waves roaring;”
This was a promise by God, given in Luke 21:25, that in the last days, there would be signs in the Sun, Moon, and stars.

THREE ANGELS’ MESSAGE INSCRIBED IN THE SUN, MOON, AND STARS
.
And these signs in the stars presented an orderly message in three distinct groups:
1. spring/summer constellations…
2.the fall constellations…
3. and finally the winter constellations.
.
The Spring/Summer constellations proclaiming the everlasting Gospel of the 1st angel, as the great Star, Arcturus, appears to be leading a procession of constellations through the night skies in a northwesterly direction.
.
Then comes the Fall Constellations, proclaiming the 2nd angel’s message, and showing us the choice between which mountain we might climb, as we stand in the Valley of Decision.
.
Then comes the fearful Winter Constellations, showing us the great battle before us. This is the message of the 3rd angel which the winter constellations reveal.
But in addition to those starry messengers, the earth is greatly lightened with the God’s glory by reason of the two great lights, the Sun and the Moon, even as is written… “The heavens declare the glory of God.” Psalm 19:1

Yes, while the Sun represents Christ in Scripture, the Moon represents God’s people: Christ and His Church.
.
And all these heavenly messengers work together to present the messages of the three angels of Revelation 14 in all its fullness!

CALLING ALL NOBLE BEREANS
.
And each and every man, woman, and child are now invited to come and behold this heavenly message, inscribed in the heavens since the very days of creation!
.
And when each and every last soul has decided which camp they will join themselves to, then will come the end, culminating with the glorious return of Christ to call His sleeping saints, as well as those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord!

In today’s devotional, the message of the 2nd angel of Revelation 14 will be our focus…
…”And there followed another angel,
saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city,
because she made all nations drink of the wine of the wrath of her fornication.”
Revelation 14:8
.
Here is a message which, while written in veiled allegorical language, yet with a little study can readily be seen to be speaking of the apostate church-world.

TWO PORTIONS OF THE CHURCH
.
Yes, while the Old Testament reveals that Babylon is a spiritual picture of Old Testament Jerusalem, nevertheless, Galatians 4:25, 26 reveals Jerusalem in the following revelation by Paul…
”For this Agar (Sara’s handmaid) is mount Sinai in Arabia,
and answereth to Jerusalem which now is,
and is in bondage with her children.
But Jerusalem (represented by Sara) which is above is free,
which is the mother of us all.”
.
So, Paul here reveals that both Sara and her handmaid, Hagar, were given by God to be spiritual allegories representing both the Church-apostate as well as the Church-faithful.
.
And Hagar represents false salvation by useless human works, while Sara represents true Salvation by the promise of God’s grace.
Now there was one man who warned of these things to the world.
.
His name was Harold Camping.
.
And he faithfully preached that today’s church-world has become apostate, and as a result, has been vomited out of the mouth of Jesus, even as it is written…”So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of My mouth.” Revelation 3:16.
.
Today’s Church, because of a lack of religious persecution, has gone headlong after the vain pleasures and ambitious pursuits of the world.
.
But for over 30 years, Harold Camping faithfully encouraged his radio audience to attend church each week, even though he realized how apostate they were becoming.
.
“Do the best you can to find a church which is reasonably faithful to the Bible. Don’t set your expectations too high”, Camping could often be heard advising his nightly callers.
.

“FOR THE TIME WILL COME WHEN THEY WILL NOT ENDURE SOUND DOCTRINE”
2nd Timothy 4:3
.
However, in the last 20 years or so, of his 50-year ministry, Camping finally understood that it was his duty to give the 2nd angel’s message that the world-loving churches had surpassed the limits of God’s forbearance.
.
And so, after much study and much prayer he eventually reversed his stance by finally giving the message…
…“And I heard another voice from Heaven,
saying, Come out of her, My people,
that ye be not partakers of her sins,
and that ye receive not of her plagues.
For her sins have reached unto heaven,
and God hath remembered her iniquities.”
Revelation 18:4, 5.
.
And being a master mathematician, Camping calculated many biblical time-prophecies concerning the time of the end, when the Revelation 18 message was to be given to… ”Come out of her, My people.”
.
And no, Harold Camping was not an actual angel, but was merely a fallible human giving a message symbolized by an angel flying in Heaven.
Even though the Three Angel’s messages was first preached via Ellen G. White, during the last half of the 1800’s, her message went mostly unheeded by the world…
.
…and even greatly slighted by her own fellow church leaders in the 7th-Day Adventist denomination.
.
But God raised up Camping to repeat these errors, plus additional errors which Mrs. White was not enlightened to present.
One of Camping’s great teachings was on the infallibility of the Bible.
.
As a matter of fact, Camping oft repeated a daily warning…”Don’t trust me! Study the Bible for your own selves!
Check out what I teach against what the Bible says!
I too have feet of clay, and am not to be trusted as the Bible is to be trusted.
The Bible is the only infallible Word of God! Study, study, study!”
.
On Camping’s daily 90-minute question/answer radio talk-show, he could be heard faithfully uttering this disclaimer perhaps a dozen times each night…“Don’t trust me! Trust only the Bible!”
Nevertheless, in spite of his several erroneous beliefs, Camping was a self-taught theologian of the first order!
.
Aware of the many other gross errors being promulgated in the modern-day seminaries, Camping studied for his own self, for about an average of 4-6 hours daily.
.
And his daily radio Bible studies thoroughly scoured the Bible, word-by-word, verse-by-verse…
.
…often taking several years of individual daily 25-minute audio Bible studies to complete even one particular book of the Bible.
.
For instance, his study into Jeremiah contains well over 600 individual 25-minute audio studies!
.
And in those daily studies he thoroughly dissected each verse, often referring to the Hebrew for word analysis, plus much cross-referencing of other related passages found elsewhere in the Bible.

Here we have the first message preached to Earth’s dwellers, which includes the preaching of the everlasting Gospel, but also the warning that the fearful hour of God’s Judgment is come.
Now, for brevity’s sake, let’s just “cut to the chase”, as the old saying goes.

Has there been any significant candidate who has proclaimed to be a fulfillment of this message?

Yes, there was a lady back in the 1800’s named Ellen G. White who made the claim of giving this 1st angel’s message (along with the other two angels’ messages).
.
No, she never claimed to be an angel, but only that the message she gave was symbolized as being given by an angel flying in the midst of heaven.
Now, while it could be somewhat conceded that her writings contained the everlasting Gospel…
.
…yet many will instead argue that no possibility exists for the Judgment Hour to have begun all the way back in the mid-nineteenth century.
.
After all, that’s well over 150 years ago!
.
Now does the Bible support such an extension of prophetic time?
.
Oh yes, in a number of places, the Bible says such things as…
…”For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God:
and if it first begin at us,
what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?”
1st Peter 4:17
.
So, even back in Peter’s day, the Judgment of God was already beginning to fall on God’s Church, as the first three chapters of Revelation likewise reveal.

So, how much more in Ellen White’s day (and even more so in our day), when the churches were becoming complacent and world-loving!

And right now, this 1st Angel’s Message is being given in a fresh new manner, via this current-day “3rd Angel’s Message”!
Now as far as preaching the everlasting Gospel, much or perhaps most of her writings were merely paraphrasing some portion of the New and Old Testaments, either literally or allegorically.

For example, her counsels concerning a healthy diet have a relation to biblical references to food in the Bible.
.
Such things as milk, bread, fruit. etc., can be found in the many Bible allegories concerning “the milk of the Word”, or “the fruit of the Spirit”, or “the bread from Heaven”.
But her diet reform message isn’t the only example one could offer.
.
No, even her references to the Sabbath, while seemingly Old Testament, can easily be spiritualized back into such passages as this…
…”Come unto Me (Jesus),
all ye that labour and are heavy laden…
and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”
Matthew 11:28, 29 (Condensed for brevity)

Here are the very words of Jesus, in which the 4th Commandment is plainly spiritualized into a spiritual rest.

And so, Ellen White’s seemingly Old Testament teachings can likewise be easily spiritualized in such a way that aligns perfectly with the New Covenant!
Now, of course, those who are not “Noble Bereans” will be content to merely study Ellen White’s writings in a superficial manner, just long enough to find some supposed flaw in her writings.

And truth-be-told, Ellen White warned her readers not to get the notion that her writings were infallible…

God alone is infallible. His word is true,

Okay, so those in Berea were more noble, because they:

1. “Received the Word with all readiness of mind.”

2.“And searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
.
And so, the Bereans were ready to receive new teachings, which no doubt, conflicted with the supposed, “orthodox” teachings of that day.
.
Thus, there was an open-mindedness which permeated their hearts, and a willingness to search the Scriptures daily, in hopes that these seemingly new teachings were indeed true!
.
And their open-mindedness was in contrast to vast close-minded majority of that day, who merely listened just long enough until heard some supposed error in Paul’s teachings, giving themselves an excuse to reject him altogether!
The Book of Revelation was given for the Church in every age, even as it is written…”Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: FOR THE TIME IS AT HAND.” Revelation 22:10.

Yes, the Book of The Revelation of Jesus Christ is just as its title reveals: it is the revelation of Jesus Christ, and His marvelous workings in a world steeped in sin and woe.
But since about the mid-twentieth century, the apostate portion of the Church has been misleading the Christian community into the notion that the last 19 chapters of Revelation concerns only the literal Jews and are greatly irrelevant for the Church.

And to further bolster this notion, the man-made name, “The Rapture”, was invented and added to the teachings of theologians and Bible teachers…
.
…to propagate the deception that there will be two separate returns of Christ…
.
…presenting the fallacy that the Church would be snatched away prior to the last 7 years of earth’s great end-of-days tribulation.

This is a fatal error, and is easily disproved by such passages as this above verse, plus many other similar passages such as this…

Now why does God pronounce those to be blessed, “who read and hear and keep the words of this prophecy”?

Simple! Because “the time is at hand.”

In other words, the entire Book of Revelation was given to be a comfort for God’s people at any point in time in the New Testament era, as it reveals how Jesus works with and works through His Church-elect.

Yes, persecution against Christians by Satan’s armies began soon after Christ’s ascension!
However, the problem came in when apostate church theologians decided that Scripture must be interpreted as literal as possible, to avoid all the indiscriminate misinterpreting of Scripture by many unsanctified minds.

But as the saying goes, “Don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater!”
.
Just because some theologians came up with wrong ideas, did not necessitate the forbidding of all spiritualizing away of the many types, shadows, allegories, etc…
.
Yes, by judiciously comparing scripture with scripture, and spiritual things with spiritual, one may find the true spiritual meaning veiled behind the various allegories, parables, types, and shadows found throughout both testaments.
And concerning the allegorical nature of the Bible, even Paul asks the question… ”Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?…Which things are an allegory.” Galatians 4:21, 24

Paul here was gently scolding the Galatians for not discerning the allegorical nature of the Law which would have revealed to them the deeper truths which these Galatians could not see by reason of their spiritual blindness.

Yes, the Bible is a spiritual book. But the carnal heart cannot properly discern that spiritual nature, nor does it even desire to do so.
.
And to further lock them out of truth, Satan stealthily brought in this false non-biblical hermeneutic which demands that scripture must only be interpreted literally, as far as possible.

One very great doctrinal difference between Camping’s teachings as opposed to the standard teachings of the evangelical community is the disagreement over the supposed hermeneutic…

…an interpretive rule which demands that scripture be interpreted as literal as possible unless context DEMANDS a spiritual interpretation.

This hermeneutic is sometimes referred to as the “Historical-Grammatical Method of Interpretation”.
Now, Harold Camping often pointed out that nowhere in the Bible is there found any scriptural justification for such a hermeneutic.
.
Rather, this hermeneutic is totally a man-made doctrine, which was originally fabricated many long centuries ago to guard against some really bad spiritualizing going on in that day.
But Camping also pointed out that by following that non-biblical, human-contrived hermeneutic, Bible students lock themselves out of so much of the Bible.
.
For instance, adherents of this hermeneutic of literal interpretation do not believe that much of the Book of Revelation concerns the Church, but is mainly for literal Jews.
.
Nor can they see the many spiritual truths found in the Laws of Moses.
.
Nor can they see that the Old Testament prophets have a spiritual application for today’s Church.
OLD TESTAMENT FILLED WITH TYPES, SHADOWS, ALLEGORIES AND PARABLES

Now, Camping, on the other hand, believed just the opposite.

He saw the Old Testament as a spiritual book, filled with allegories, types and shadows which have a spiritual application for today’s Church.

And so, Camping constantly pointed out the many spiritual metaphors which were actually more for today’s Church, than they were for the Old Testament children of Israel.
“Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.”
1st Corinthians 2:13

And thus, Camping taught his listeners, that by comparing scripture with scripture and “spiritual things with spiritual”, the true allegorical meaning of all those Old Testament precepts and testimonies can be properly unlocked to reveal their true application to today’s Church.

THE WALDENSES
.
Toward the bottom of today’s devotional is a 39-minute audio reading of Chapter 4, entitled, “The Waldenses” from Ellen White’s historical book, “The Great Controversy”.
.
This very intriguing chapter gives a brief history of this group of faithful Christians who had to flee to the literal mountains of Europe for refusing to bow down and serve that apostate Church of Rome.
One important thing to remember when hearing this audio chapter below, is that E. G. White discusses the 7th-Day Sabbath and how it had been rejected in favor of the 1st-day Sunday Sabbath.

And while this website does not dispute her historical account, it likewise echoes her statement that in the future, God’s people would proclaim “the Sabbath more fully” (Early Writings, p.85.)
.
In other words, this website maintains “there remaineth a Rest to the people of God”. (see Hebrews 4:9)

That is, this website promotes the spiritual rest spoken of in Matthew 11:28-30…

All they understood was that this “quirky” Bible preacher with big ears and a booming, formidable voice was warning them that the world was soon coming to a sudden end.

And most everyone hated that message and the man, including most Christians.

All sorts of mockery, insults, and accusations were hurled at this elderly Bible teacher from Alameda California.
“BUT WHETHER THERE BE PROPHECIES, THEY SHALL FAIL”
1st Corinthians 13:8

And when that much-anticipated last day finally came and went, the world immediately rose up into attack mode against this much-maligned Bible teacher.

Insulting caricatures of Camping were posted on the Internet…
,,,scathing articles were written in the various media…
…jokes and taunts were cast upon him…
…he was called a false prophet by nearly everyone…
…everyone pretty much “piled up” on this man to the point that in his grief over his supposed failure, he had a stroke and died about two years or so later.
.
And even in the Christian community there were very few if any, “Noble Bereans”, who studied daily to see if the things Camping taught were true. (see Acts 17:11 regarding Noble Bereans)
Oh yes, Camping’s calculations were correct. But God purposely covered His hand over just how that message would actually unfold, causing it to tarry past the appointed day of the end.

And the reason for this delay was because God knew His people were unprepared to meet the Lord in peace.
.
Yes, Satan had all but hamstrung the Church with the earthly pleasures and tinsel-like treasures which this hedonistic and cornucopian super-society affords.
And thus, in His great love and mercy, God has now given us a tarrying time in which God’s people could learn what needs to be learned.
.
And in this tarrying time, God’s people can finally cast off their earthly skin, so to speak, and properly prepare themselves for the hour in which the Church shall shine as the Sun for all the on-looking Earth and Heaven to behold.
Remember the story of Joshua, when he commanded the Sun and Moon to stand still?

And remember how God hearkened to Joshua’s command?
.
Well, that true little historical account was orchestrated by God to present a prophetic picture of what we are now going through!
.
And just as God’s people needed more time to vanquish their foes, so too, the Church-elect today needs an extension of time to properly armor up and decimate our enemies, spiritually speaking, of course.
Well, God has now hearkened to the command of Joshua (Christ) for the sun to delay its going down, that they could root out those enemies out of the hearts of His people.

Thus, God has likewise given us today, a little more time as well, to finish up the work that needs to be accomplished.

“And every man that hath this hope in Him purifieth himself, even as He is pure.” 1st John 3:3
.
This verse encapsulates what still remains to be accomplished in the heart of each and every true worshiper of God!
Therefore, let every man, woman, and child who considers his or her own self to be a “Noble Berean”, begin to study this message daily whether it is true.

And let’s not be like the stiff-necked and uncircumcised lawyers and scribes and Pharisees and Sadducees who were ready to reject God’s truth the first moment they saw some supposed flaw!

A few years ago, a certain radio Bible teacher made the seemingly failed prediction that May 21st, 2011, would be the last day of earth’s existence, because of the long-afore-promised return of Christ in the clouds of glory.

And of course, when that day came and went, the world began throwing verbal stones at Harold Camping.
.
But in reality, nothing failed!
.
No, nothing in Camping’s prediction failed! But God purposely allowed this tarrying-time to awaken His sleeping saints, to prepare them to stand in the Day of the Lord! (see Habakkuk 2:1, 2)
Yes, Harold Camping was accused of being a false teacher, all for the sake of getting rich.
.
But those who knew him, fully understood that this dedicated Bible teacher was a very spiritual servant of God: a man who cared nothing for the riches of this world!
.
But rather, Camping loved the heavenly riches found only in the study of God’s Word, the Bible!
Unfortunately, much of this world only got a brief glimpse of this faithful Bible teacher whose short brush with world-wide notoriety was nothing more than, “A flash in the pan”, as the saying goes.
.
And yet, Harold Camping studied the Bible for hours each day, before he conducts a daily Bible study and a 90-minute nightly call-in radio talk show.
.
And armed with nothing more than a King James Bible, and a memory of so much of the Bible, Camping answered the many questions about the Bible, night after night for 5 long decades.
.
But of course, with only a very brief encounter with Harold Camping, the public and world knew very little about this wisp of a man, with a deep and booming voice, proclaiming the end of the world!
But God had raised up Camping, and He gave this former construction-engineer-turned-Bible-teacher, a vast knowledge of the Bible…
.
…made possible by his 5 or 6 hours per day comparing Scripture with Scripture, definitely with “ears to hear”, trying to understand more and more of what the Bible is saying to Mankind.
One aspect which makes Camping’s audio Bible programs superior to other radio teachers is the manner in which he highlighted each Bible reference.
.
Unlike many teachers, Camping usually made an effort to emphasize each verse given, repeating the chapter and verse, and allowing the listener time to look each verse up for themselves.
.
But most other teachers do not do so well in this regard, but rather make their emphasis, instead, upon their own perspective, and not giving listeners time to look up each given verse for their own selves.
.
The bottom line is, Camping was more interested in making the Bible the focal-point of his ministry rather than his own interpretations.
.
Thus, Camping’s presentations allow listeners the time to cement those verses into their hearts, more than most other teachers normally do!
And in his 25-minute daily Bible study, the listener was taken very slowly through the Bible, verse-by-verse, sometimes spending several studies on just one verse.

But in those studies, individual words were examined, often referring to the original language of Hebrew or Greek to find out just what that verse was truly saying.
Now of course, no Bible teacher is infallible, and Camping did have some errors in his teachings, such as his long-held belief in Eternal Torment, and the Sunday Sabbath.

But even here, Camping finally saw the error in that doctrine, and immediately corrected his teachings on the true nature of Hell (which he finally realized, is the grave)… “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23

“Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen…And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, My people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” Revelation 18:1, 4
So, in this little series, the subject of those noble Bereans has been introduced.

And today, it is still worthy of a little more exploration, regarding another area of concern.
.
Let’s look at the key Bible passage…“And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming there, went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:10, 11
OK, so these in Berea were more noble, because they:

1. “Received the Word with all readiness of mind.”
.
2.“And searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
.
And so, these Bereans were ready to receive new teachings, which no doubt, conflicted with the supposed, “orthodox” teachings of that day.
.
Yes, there was an open-mindedness which permeated their hearts, and a willingness to continue searching the Scriptures daily, in hopes that these seemingly new teachings were indeed true!
A few years ago, a certain radio Bible teacher made the seemingly failed prediction that May 21st, 2011 would be the last day of earth’s existence, because of the long-promised return of Christ in the clouds of glory.

And of course, when that day came and went, the world began throwing verbal stones at Harold Camping.
.
But in reality, nothing failed!
.
No, nothing in Camping’s prediction failed! But God purposely allowed this tarrying-time to awaken His sleeping saints, to prepare them to stand in the Day of the Lord!
Yes, Harold Camping was accused of being a false teacher, all for the sake of getting rich.
.
But those who knew him, fully understood that this dedicated Bible teacher was a very spiritual servant of God: a man who cared nothing for the riches of this world!
.
But rather, Camping loved the heavenly riches found only in the study of God’s Word, the Bible!
Much of this world only got a brief glimpse of this faithful Bible teacher whose short brush with world-wide notoriety was nothing more than, “A flash in the pan”, as the saying goes.
.
And yet, Harold Camping studied the Bible for hours each day, prior to a daily Bible study and a 90 minute nightly call-in radio talk show. And armed with nothing more than a King James Bible, and a memory of so much of the Bible, Camping answered the many questions about the Bible, night after night for 5 long decades.
.
But of course, having only a very brief encounter with Harold Camping, the public and world knew very little about this wisp of a man, with a deep and booming voice, proclaiming the end of the world!
But God had raised up Camping, and He gave this former construction-engineer-turned-Bible-teacher, a vast knowledge of the Bible, made possible by his 5 or 6 hours per day comparing Scripture with Scripture, to try to understand more and more of what the Bible is saying to Mankind.
But this message became totally eclipsed by Camping’s announcement of the end of the world! The world was caught by surprise, when Family Radio decided to send out this message with as much “Shock & Awe” as possible!
.
Camping knew he was taking a big risk! He knew that Family Radio was probably going to disintegrate because all of its assets would be depleted in the vast advertising campaign to trumpet the announcement of the end of the world! But Camping totally believed his mathematical calculations which he had studied for years in the Bible calendars. And so, he was totally convinced of the world’s end.
.
But because the world’s attention became so arrested by that announcement, and the shortness of time to the much-anticipated date of May 21, 2011, all those years of Camping’s radio ministry were gobbled up by the loud trumpet sounds announcing the end of the world!
But God knew all this and allowed that fateful day to come and go without incident. And then, the entire world turned its guns back on Camping, and his supposed failed prediction.
.
Even religious ministries and at least one Bible college made YouTube videos, mocking Camping, often making fun of his looks.
.
Well, Camping’s seemingly failed prediction, and all the resulting societal vengeance was more than Camping could take. And shortly after, he had a massive stroke, rendering him almost unable to carry on his radio ministry. And after another year or so, Camping died.
But as already mentioned, God purposely allowed all this to happen, in order to complete His last call for His people to come out of the apostate churches, and to come out of the wickedness which the entire world is now steeped in.
.
Yes, what Harold Camping did not understand was, that God has one final agenda to fulfill, prior to the end: the glorification of His faithful remnant, the Church Elect!
.
And God was not going to end the world without completely annihilating Satan’s kingdom! Yes, Satan’s kingdom must be completely toppled prior to the end, and God will use His glorified outcasts from the fallen church-world to accomplish that victory over Satan and his evil government.
That’s right, God is not going to allow the Devil to hold God’s people captive in our semi-diseased spiritual condition! And the grand finale to the world’s encounter with Judgment Day, will be the moment of glory in which His Elect will shine with all the brightness of the Sun, for all the world to behold!
.
This is the 7th and final plague to be poured out upon this unbelieving and defiant world, just prior to the end! The Church-Elect will shine with Christlike brightness, totally blinding the inhabitants of this Sodom & Gomorrah world! The Cross will finally be uplifted, for all the world to behold!
.
And so, this is why May 21st, 2011 came and went without incident.
.
But now, the message is going out to God’s people to put away all our worldly idols and affections, and go to work while there is still time, to finally prepare to shine for all the onlooking world to behold!
And so, this great message of Revelation 18 is the one missing piece from Harold Camping’s ministry, which has yet to be presented to God’s faithful ones.

And yet, God had faithfully preserved this great message to His people. Yes, this call to come out of spiritual Babylon can be fully understood by merely listening to that great swan-song Bible study of the Book of Jeremiah. And this 600+ 25 minute daily Bible study can be downloaded off the Internet, and shared with any one willing to listen with Berean-like nobility and childlike open-mindedness!
In this study, Camping goes verse-by-verse through Jeremiah, dissecting and comparing each verse with other related portions of the Bible, to uncover the deep allegorical language which has baffled theologians through the ages!

THIS HOLY-GHOST-RIDER

Now one thing that is noticeable and makes this constellation even more dramatic, is the fact that the Milky Way runs right through it. And the question that must be asked is, “What biblical implications does this constellation/Milky Way connection have?” Well, very simply put, if stars represent Believers, then this rider works in the world through His True-Worshippers, to a great extent.

WHY IS THIS CONSTELLATION SO INCOMPLETE IN APPEARANCE
.
So why is this constellation merely an outline? Well it does show his back, rear end and leg…and arm. But unlike, say, Orion, this constellation is very vague, even mysterious in appearance. Almost vacant in appearance. Yes this horseman represents Christ.

But even more than this, it represents the Holy Spirit of Christ. And as we all know, the Holy Spirit is very, very, un-intrusive, almost impossible to detect His presence. Hence, this constellation is perhaps the most faint of all the constellations of Signs Of Heaven!

Okay, so those in Berea were more noble, because they:

Yes, God sends His people various tests, to prove to them, whether they are lovers of truth, or merely religionists clinging to their comfortable religiosity.
Instead of being like those “noble Bereans” who prayerfully studied daily with open minds and open Bibles…
.
…today’s Christians are content to rely on the advice of their church leaders who have condemned God’s messenger, because of her supposed errors…
…”Oh, she was strictly Old Testament!”
“Oh, she copied other people’s writings.”
“Oh, how could Sunday be the Mark of the beast?”
“Well, she got arrested once!”
“She didn’t even follow her own advice!”
.
And armed with such similar critiques, the Church world is mostly content to move on, thinking that God is going to bless such stiff-necked, close-minded pharisaism!
Take, for example, the criticism of her teaching that “Sunday is the Mark of the Beast”.
.
If only there were truth-seeking Bible students who would imitate those noble Bereans by studying her writings to the point that they might discover the true nature of the Mark of the Beast as it was actually depicted by Ellen White.
.
Ellen White had so much to say concerning the apostasy of the Church (including her own denomination)…
.
…that to encapsulate her stance by saying “She believed that Sunday is the Mark of the Beast” does not even begin to scratch the surface of what she actually taught on that subject.

Thus, there was an open-mindedness which permeated their hearts, and a willingness to search the Scriptures daily, in hopes that these seemingly new teachings were indeed true!
One of the most common criticisms of Ellen G. White, divinely appointed messenger to the 7th-Day Adventist Church, was that she was wanting to put her followers under the Old Covenant.
.
And it’s true! So much of her writings seem to be Old Testament in nature.
.
In one or more instances, she encouraged those who committed sin to make a trespass offering.
.
And in many other places she made similar type Old Covenant flavored statements.
Yes, if one would only take the time to thoroughly examine her statements, it would be discovered that much of her writings are paraphrases of Bible verses.
.
And just as the Lord divided up the Bible with both Old and New Covenant statements, so too, Ellen White’s writings do the very same thing, yet to a somewhat lessor degree.
.
In other words, her Old Covenant statements are not so pronounced, often blended and balanced with New Covenant.
And so, just how is a truth-seeker to understand how to read her writings?
.
Simple, the same way we are to understand the Bible!
.
Yes, just as Jesus shines through every Old Testament law and precept, so too, He shines through every seemingly Old Testament statement in Ellen White’s writings.
Now of course, this is NOT TO SAY that Ellen White’s writings are inspired to the degree that the Bible is inspired.
.
As a matter of fact, Ellen White confessed a number of times…“I have never claimed that my writings are infallible! God alone is infallible!”
.
In another place, she said…“If there is an error in my writings, it should be prayerfully studied out, and if necessary, changes should be made.”
.
And once again, she wrote…
“We have many lessons to learn, and many, many to unlearn.
God and Heaven alone are infallible.
Those who think that they will never have to give up a cherished view,
never have occasion to change an opinion, will be disappointed.
As long as we hold to our own ideas and opinions with determined persistency,
we cannot have the unity for which Christ prayed.”

Now this does, by no means, discount the value of her writings! Ellen White had a wonderful message.

And all those Noble Bereans who still have an ear to hear, will want to listen to her writings on audio.

DISCOVERED MANY ALLEGORIES

One great aspect to Camping’s 50 years of teachings, was how he had discovered so many of the deep allegories of so many Bible verses. Yes, the Bible is filled with allegorical stories.

And though they were true historical events, yet God orchestrated them in such a way, that they reveal deep spiritual truths.
.
And those who are wise will want to investigate Camping’s many Bible studies, in hopes of learning more and more about the Bible’s true, “hidden manna”, veiled in allegories!
Sadly, we live in an age in which the modern-day theological community has been greatly dwarfed in their thinking by their man-made, false, and unbiblical hermeneutic.
.
Yes, Satan has crept in unawares with this totally unbiblical hermeneutic which demands that Scripture must be interpreted literally, as far as possible.
But the Bible commands us to do just the opposite!
.
Listen…“Which things also we speak,
not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth,
but which the Holy Ghost teacheth;
comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:
for they are foolishness unto him:
neither can he know them,
because they are spiritually discerned.”
1st Corinthians 2:13, 14

As this above passage reveals, those who are yet carnally-minded, scoff at others who see the many spiritual allegories which only make the entire Bible relevant and applicable to the Church today!
.
Yes, because the Bible is a spiritual book, it is literally teeming with prophetic allegories concerning the Church in these last moments of time.
But the problem is that those who are yet carnally-minded, are sensual, not having the Spirit of Holiness.
.
And so, they cannot discern many of the allegories within the pages of Scripture, nor do they even want to!
.
But the spirit controlling them is, “the spirit of the world”: the “spirit of error”!
.
Listen…“Now we have received,
not the spirit of the world,
but the spirit which is of God;
that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.”
1st Corinthians 2:12
.
Yes, as these devotionals repeatedly proclaim, there are two spirits in the world, and you are either of one spirit or the other! And many are deceived because Satan often comes as “an angel of light”, counterfeiting the Holy Spirit so closely that, if possible, even the very elect will be deceived. (2nd Corinthians 11:14 and Matthew 24:24)
It is truly sad that the Christian community is so close-minded.

But God has given them the spirit of deep slumber…
“According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber,
eyes that they should not see,
and ears that they should not hear; unto this day.”
Romans 11:18
.
Yes, just as in the days of Jesus, when contending with the closed-minded leaders of ancient Israel, so too, the same unbelief and hardness of heart exists among God’s teachers today!
But for those who desire to discover more and more of the vast treasure trove of the precious gems of truth hidden within the allegories and parables in God’s Word, they will eagerly listen to the many years of wonderful Bible studies conducted by that master-theologian, Harold Camping!

And armed with all the knowledge of the many hidden meanings veiled within the pages of Scripture, these “Noble Bereans” can begin to understand much more of what God is trying to tell us.

No, but rather, they were noble enough to entertain this ill-reputed and much-despised renegade, Paul, who was bringing a very new and different angle on the Scriptures.
A few years ago, a certain radio Bible teacher made the seemingly failed prediction that May 21st, 2011, would be the last day of earth’s existence, because of the long-afore-promised return of Christ in the clouds of glory.

And of course, when that day came and went, the world began casting verbal stones at Harold Camping.
It’s too bad that the world was introduced to Harold Camping only on the back of his seemingly erroneous teaching that the Last Day was merely a 24-hour event.
.
It’s too bad that the world could not have heard the many wonderful Bible studies which Camping conducted over a 50-year span.
Where are all the truth-seekers who don’t merely follow the crowd, but are willing to re-examine these teachings with an open mind and a truth-yearning heart?
.
After all, Camping didn’t base his end-of-the-world teachings on a dream, nor a vision, nor a voice.
.
No, but instead, he spent average of about 5 or 6 hours a day for years, actually well over 50 years, searching the Bible for his ideas.
.
Yes, he was merely declaring what he believed the Bible teaches.
.
Therefore, Harold Camping doesn’t fall into the category of a false prophet; just a Bible teacher who had things almost figured out, but not completely.
O My people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.” Isaiah 3:12
.
So, the challenge goes out to any professing Christian to prove that he (or she) is truly a Noble Berean and stop letting others dictate to him just what he must believe and must not believe.

Yes, just because the world cannot understand that there has been a tarrying time in the Bible’s end-of-the-world prophecy concerning the “Last Day”, that doesn’t necessitate that we too must remain in ignorance concerning these things!
.
All a truth-seeker has to do is to begin the painless process of listening to a 25-minute Bible study each morning, and test and see for one’s own self!
.
And at the bottom of each day’s devotional is another 20-25-minute audio Bible study or one of his many “Open Forum” talk shows.
Oh no, Harold Camping was not infallible. Of course, there are errors in his 50-year teaching ministry.
.
But Harold Camping freely acknowledged that he too had “feet of clay”.
.
And so, he constantly reminded his listeners to not trust him, but to search the Bible, the only infallible source of truth in this sinful world.
.
Therefore, let’s study our Bible with an open mind, not allowing others to rule over our conscience, but studying for our own self, to discover more and more about our great God and our Savior, Jesus Christ.

And of course, when that day came and went, the world began throwing verbal stones at Harold Camping.
Yes, Harold Camping was accused of being a false teacher, all for the sake of getting rich.

But those who knew him, knew well, that this dedicated Bible teacher to be a very spiritual servant of God…

…a man who cared nothing for the riches of this world! But, rather, he loved the heavenly riches found only in the study of God’s Word, the Bible!
.
And the Internet began putting up the most demeaning photos and parodies and mockeries of Camping.
.
And the scathing articles about him were seemingly endless, even making fun of his physical imperfections!
.
Well of course, in the passing weeks, the firestorm which his “failed” prediction caused, began to die down, and the public moved on to other business, and other issues, and forgot about Camping.
But did anyone dig into his message, to find out why he believed what he believed?
.
Did any consider that he spent years carefully and prayerfully studying the many prophecies concerning these things?
.
Or the various dates and numbers that he tirelessly scrutinized, to come up with the date of “The Last Day”? Hardly!
.
Or did anyone ever consider that he was not coming as a prophet who spoke to God, or received a vision or a dream?
.
No, Camping’s prediction was based solely on decades of Bible study, studying an average of 5 or 6 hours per day, over a 50-year period.
.
He was merely announcing to the world, the conclusion of his 50 years of careful and prayerful study of God’s Word.
.
But where were all the “Noble Bereans”, willing to hear the man out?
.
Where were those who were desirous to investigate this lone figure who stood up and challenged the so-called “orthodoxy” of today’s Christendom?
.
Sadly, they were nowhere to be found!

A RE-EXAMINATION

But let’s examine his supposed “false prediction”, for a moment.

Was Camping really incorrect?
.
And was Harold Camping really a false teacher?
.
And if we are truly like those noble Bereans, we might wish to take some time out to re-examine this much-maligned Bible teacher.

After all, if this entire godless world begins to throw rocks at a Bible-believing teacher, then perhaps there is some good thing that might be discovered about that Bible teacher…
And Satan now uses the various Internet, TV and radio news sources to conduct various “high-tech witch-hunts”…

…exposing and destroying anyone who dares to make a mistake in what they say, if it dares to transgress a “politically protected” person, group, tradition, or ideology.

And thus, it also is, with Harold Camping.
.
Yes, Camping made a seemingly failed prediction regarding the end of the world.
.
And because it did not literally end, everyone was quick to verbally stone that Bible teacher.

And yet, Christians have mostly forgot a very critically important Bible truth!

There was a prediction which sent shock-waves around the globe, that the world was to end on May 21, 2011.
.
The epi-center of this shock-wave was a humble little radio station based out of Alameda California, owned by a dedicated Bible teacher, one Mr. Harold Camping.
.
And this message became a much-watched and highly-anticipated event, right up to the very day of May 21, 2011.
.
But when that day came and went, the world (and the Church) sighed a breath of relief!
.
And the skeptics immediately began throwing verbal rocks at Mr. Camping, putting his face on the Internet to mock and deride, calling him a false prophet, etc..
Now, as to the question of why Mr. Camping mistakenly believed the world would end on May 21, 2011 with the return of Jesus Christ, one only needs to consult the Bible.
.
For the first reference it would be well to look to the prophecy of Habakkuk…
.
Listen…“For the vision is yet for an appointed time,
but at the end it shall speak, and not lie:
THOUGH IT TARRY, WAIT FOR IT;
BECAUSE IT WILL SURELY COME, IT WILL NOT TARRY!”
Habakkuk 2:2, 3
.
You see, Habakkuk was given a vision of God’s people in these last days, being flooded by unbelievers (Chaldeans), to the point that wrong judgment proceeded forth from God’s people.
It’s just that we don’t understand how God works, and how God speaks.
.
To see how God works and how He speaks in these end-times, we need look no further than how God worked and spoke at the beginning of Creation…
.
Listen…“But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil,
thou shalt not eat of it:
for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
Genesis 2:17
.
You see, when Adam and Eve ate that forbidden fruit, whatever it was, they did not physically die (though they did actually spiritually die that day).

A DAY NOT NECESSARILY 24 HOURS
.
And so it is with God’s prophecy of the end of the world on May 21st, 2011.
.
When God speaks of the Day of Judgment, He is not speaking of a literal 24-hour period!
.
We are even now in the Day of Judgment!
.
And even though Mr. Camping was well aware of this principle, the Lord closed Camping’s eyes, so that he thought of it as only a 24-hour literal end of the world.

GOD’S PEOPLE IN DRUNKEN SLUMBER
.
“Awake, ye drunkards, and weep;
and howl, all ye drinkers of wine,
because of the new wine,
for it is cut off from your mouth.”
Joel 1:5

And it’s a good thing that it didn’t fully happen on May 21, 2011.
.
Because most Christians were not prepared to meet Jesus!
.
We were steeped in worldliness and even idolatry as we sought after the worldly pleasures and earthly treasures of this, Satan’s kingdom of selfishness!
.
And so, God, in His great mercy, allowed that delay, to wake up His sleeping saints from our spiritually drunken slumber!
But Harold Camping’s calculations from the Bible were correct!
.
God’s judgment upon the world did begin on that fateful day, and now we are beginning to take on water just as surely as that supposedly “unsinkable” ship, the Titanic did, after she silently scraped that iceberg!
.
Yes, the world has likewise scraped an iceberg in a metaphorical sense!
.
And unbeknownst to most of us, our good ship, Planet Earth is now taking on water.
.
And just now we are beginning to see God’s judgments falling all around the world!
.
Yes, God is allowing this world to become insanely evil!
But in the meanwhile, God is using this apparent extension of time, to make a last call, for anyone and everyone to get on board another ship, which will take us to our Promised Land of everlasting joy!
.
Yes, for thousands of years, the doors of mercy have been open to all who would come aboard and be saved.
.
And God used Harold Camping to sound the trumpet that the world has come to its end.
.
A great fiery deluge is about to destroy this world!
.
And along with Camping’s warning, Habakkuk’s vision likewise warns us that the time has fully come to “RUN!”
.

.
“But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which…the earth…shall be burned up.”

Isn’t God so merciful, that He cares enough to give us some extra time to flee from the wrath to come?

But don’t get too comfortable!

A deluge of fire is soon coming upon this earth, just as surely as it came upon Sodom!

But the Bible does command us thus…“Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning! Blessed art thou, O land, when thy King is the Son of Nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!” Ecclesiastes 10:16, 17
.
Here is a call for temperance in diet. One group of princes “feast in the morning”, while another group eat “in due season, for strength”.
.
While this above passage has great spiritual implications, the physical earthly interpretation cannot be overlooked. After all, to “eat in due season, for strength and not for drunkenness” is the very essence of a healthy diet!
And so, Ellen White’s counsels on good health practices were very much in harmony with Scripture. And as already mentioned, while the New Testament does not command vegetarianism, the Book of Genesis does indeed reveal that vegetarianism was the original and everlasting diet which God gave to Mankind.
.
And it must be remembered, the original diet will also be the everlasting diet in the “New Heaven and a New earth”.
.
And so, for this reason, Ellen White felt very strongly that vegetarianism was one of the fundamental elements of a healthful lifestyle.
And the closer we examine His lifestyle, it appears that Jesus was extremely healthy. After all, his earlier life as a physical laborer (a carpenter), plus the countless miles he traveled on foot during His years of earthly ministry both indicate that Jesus was a very strong and healthy individual (and don’t forget that He spent his last years living totally outdoors on a 24/7 basis).
.
And yet, as we examine the very basic lifestyle of Jesus in the four Gospels, we see that Jesus ate fish. So obviously Jesus’ meat-eating didn’t seem to hamper His health in the least little bit!
And so, while vegetarianism may indeed be one of the key fundamental ingredients to God’s original plan, we need never be afraid of imitating the lifestyle of Jesus: His active lifestyle of fasting, outdoor exercise combined with a simple diet of fish, fruit, whole-grain bread, water, etc., worked well for our divine Role-Model. And we would probably do well to also imitate Jesus in this area of our life, which would no doubt result in our greater degree of health.
.
And truth-be-told, Ellen White would no doubt agree with these things. As a matter of fact, she freely acknowledged that she also ate fish at various times in her long life.
Nevertheless, by scrolling down this page the Reader can listen to the reasons she advocated vegetarianism from this 10-minute audio reading of her chapter on meat-eating from her book, Ministry of Healing.
“Dear Lord, Let me eat for strength both in the physical sense, but also in the spiritual sense. Let me always have Jesus before my eyes as I follow Him by faith, imitating whatever I see Him doing…
“And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman….and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered. So, in this little series, the subject of those noble Bereans has been introduced. And today, it is still worthy of a little more exploration into another area of concern.
.
Let’s review the key Bible passage…
“And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea:
who coming there, went into the synagogue of the Jews.
These were more noble than those in Thessalonica,
in that they received the word with all readiness of mind,
and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
Okay, so those in Berea were more noble, because they:

1. “Received the Word with all readiness of mind.”
.
2.“And searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”
.
And because of this excellent, open-minded Spirit, the Bereans were ready to receive new teachings, which no doubt, conflicted with the supposed, “orthodox” teachings of that day.
.
Thus, there was an open-minded love for truth which permeated their hearts, and a willingness to search the Scriptures daily, in hopes that these seemingly new teachings were indeed true!
Well, the Bible has other passages which encourage healthful living.
.
Indeed, the Old Testament has many precepts dealing with sanitation, which Ellen White wrote extensively as she presented the everlasting Gospel!
.
And the Noble Berean is encouraged to listen to the short audio reading of her book, The Ministry of Healing, found at almost the page bottom of today’s devotional.
“Dear Lord, Give me the heart of the Noble Berean as I search for truth. Give me a love for truth even though I may have to eventually stand alone from general consensus of the “group-think” mentality…

When God created the Moon and the stars, He ordained them to “rule the night” (Genesis 1:16).

The Moon, especially when it is full, can light your pathway through the night, as it reflects the light of the Sun.

So too, the Christian is to be a light to the world: to this sin-darkened world.
.
But as the Moon must reflect the light of the Sun, in order to be a light to the world, so also must the Christian reflect the light of Jesus, to be a spiritual light to this planet in rebellion.

However, during an eclipse, the Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon, preventing that sunlight from shining on the Moon’s face.

This is an incredible object-lesson about when the child of God allows the world to come between him and his Lord.
.
Like the eclipse, that person no longer reflects the light of Jesus, because his or her love of this dark world of sin has eclipsed the light from the“Sun of Righteousness” (see Malachi 4:2).
.
