And isn’t it so lucky that lightning-striking-pond-scum produced so many interesting life-forms, and so many beautiful plants and animals?!

Isn’t it so lucky that nature has so many beautiful, majestic things to enjoy?!

And isn’t it so lucky that we humans are also the result of lightning-striking-pond-scum.

And isn’t it so lucky that humans became the crowning act of the Big Bang, in that mankind has the mental capacity to explore and ponder all these wonderful accidents of nature?!
.
Well, this article could go on and on about all the so-called “lucky things” which supposedly were produced by some mindless cosmic explosion…chaos into order and design.
.
But the true reason why things turned the way they did is because they are the product of an infinite omnipotent super-mind…God!
.
And this eternal Spirit-Being has placed mankind in a universe with countless evidences of His existence and love.
.
And though this little planet also tells of evil, and is marred because of the consequences of sin, the goodness and love of God still shines through.

TODAY’S PRAYER
Dear Lord, Please open my eyes to see the joy and the beauty of God’s creations. Open my ears to hear the heavenly message which these spiritual metaphors try to teach us…

HEAVENLY OBJECT LESSON
.
When God created the Moon and the stars, He ordained them to “rule the night” (Genesis 1:16).
.
The Moon, especially when it is full, can light your pathway through the night, as it reflects the light of the Sun.
.
So too, the Christian is to be a light to the world: to this sin-darkened world.
.
But as the Moon must reflect the light of the Sun, in order to be a light to the world…
.
…so also, must the Christian reflect the light of Jesus, to be a spiritual light to this planet in rebellion.
.
Listen…“Ye are the light of the world…
Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:14-16
.
However, during an eclipse, the Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon, preventing that sunlight from shining on the Moon’s face.
.
This is an incredible object-lesson about when the child of God allows the world to come between him and his Lord.
.
Like the eclipse, that person no longer reflects the light of Jesus, because his or her love of this dark world of sin has eclipsed the light from the “Sun of Righteousness” (see Malachi 4:2).
.

Well, let’s move up a few years and examine the behavior of older kids, say, 5-to-10-year-olds.

Are you old enough to remember that come-back-line often used after being called some derogatory name: “I know you are, but what am I?!”

Yes, this childhood “back-at-you!” was adequate enough back in the 1950’s (but probably is not so much in today’s increasingly violence-prone society).

NAME-CALLING STILL IN VOGUE

And yet, while “I-know-you-are-but-what-am-I?” may have become outdated, name-calling is still very much in vogue!

As a matter of fact, just look at the world of politics, for example.

The vitriolic name-calling which flies back-and-forth between opposing political parties!
.
Such derogatory tags as… “They’re all a bunch of Nazis!”…
…or “He’s a modern-day Hitler!”…
…or “You’re a real ‘such-and-such-phobe’!”

Well, these are just a few of the most common derogatory names (usually accompanied with some real choice four-letter-smears!)

YELLOW JOURNALISM ALIVE & WELL!

Well, just like children in a sandbox, is today’s political arena!

One political party attempts to smear the opposition, using the worst-of-the-worst smear-tactics.

And of course, major-media-yellow-journalists all jump on board, and echo the daily smears, all in hopes of prejudicing the listening public against the media’s political foes.

SATAN, A TIRELESS ENEMY

But how can we blame them?

After all, the “god of this world” has worked 24/7/365 to create a society which encourages such immaturity!

And so much of television, radio, and Internet caters to that immaturity.

Yes, a great deal of television, Internet, and the recording industry attempt to appeal to the younger generation on a very low level…

…which often hinders them from growing up properly (this web-editor also once being a victim).

The Bible speaks of Arcturus as a possibility…“canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?” Job 38:33.There’s nothing that is impossible for God! Arcturus may very well have been that star.

FULFILLMENT OF WISE-MEN OF OLD

But there is a much greater question that confronts Mankind today.

Because, just as a single star guided those wise men to the coming Savior, so also, God is just now giving us many stars, to guide us safely to the Second Coming of our Lord and Savior!

And so, these starry signs seem to be the fulfillment of those wise men following the star, 2,000 years ago!

Mercury, the 2nd Commandment & Images

or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above,
or that is in the earth beneath,
or that is in the water under the earth:”

The number ‘two’ seems to be the number that speaks of “reflection”. (Just like this giant globe photo to the right.)
.
As this mirror globe reflects the images of the people around it, so too, we each reflect an image to the world around us (whether we like it or not).
.
When you look in the mirror, there becomes two images; 1. You, and 2. The reflection of you… in the mirror…
.

REFLECTING
.
“Can two walk together except they be in agreement?” Amos 3:3.
.
To “be in agreement”, as this verse says, with another person, seems to speak of one person reflecting the opinions of another.
.
They are an “image” one of another, as far as their viewpoints.
.
As the Moon reflects the light of the Sun, the Moon shines just like the Sun (not as brightly though).
.
And as Mercury (the second solar-system body) reflects the light of the Sun, it too becomes a light as well.
.

WE ARE A MIRROR…
.
But as this mirror globe in the photo presents an image of these people, we humans also reflect an image to the world.

And our image is a product of our life-experiences; we are a ‘mirror’ of the people and things which have influenced us.

INFLUENCE OF ASSOCIATIONS

LITTLE COMPANION… Mercury is the Sun’s ‘little companion’, so to 
speak. Oh yes, it’s a “little” companion.
.
As Mercury is a constant companion to the Sun, so we need to be a constant companion to the “Sun of Righteousness”, Jesus. Malachi 4:1
.

COMPANIONSHIP BRINGS CHANGE…

The Bible says that “companionship” speaks a lot about who we are.
.
Have you ever heard the expression, “Tell me who your friends are, and I’ll tell you who you are”?
.
The Bible asks the very same question, but in a somewhat different way… “Can two walk together, except they are in agreement?” Amos 3:3.
.
But this next verse seems to be an answer to the previous verse.
.
Just listen… “we…beholding…the Lord…
are changed into the same image.”
2nd Corinthians 3:18.
.
This verse confirms that associating with Jesus we become in agreement with Jesus.
.
.

.
.
EVIL ASSOCIATIONS AFFECT US
.
But this principal of “who we walk with”, also works in the negative sense…
…”Be not deceived:
evil communications corrupt good manners.”
1st Corinthians 15:33.
.
By associating with bad influences, we imperceptibly begin to take on those evil attributes.
.
“Be not deceived” this last verse states.
.
Every time Scripture issues the warning, we need to realize that Satan will try to deceive us on that very point.
.

HEAVENLY ROLE-MODELS or HELLISH ROLE MODELS?
.
As most everyone in the Christian community understands, the Bible uses, not only Jesus, but mere mortals, such as Paul, to be role-models for Christians to admire and emulate.
.
But Lucifer, now called Satan, fully understands this, and has given us his own role-models, for us to conform to.
.
And now, with television, radio, the printed page, and high-tech devices, like never before this Master-Destroyer now projects his own selfish image to the world!
.
And as a result, they eventually begin to emulate those images in their own personal daily lives!
.

AM I THE MIRROR IMAGE OF JESUS?…
.
“(Jesus) Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person…” Hebrews 1:3
.
And speaking of images, the above verse states that Jesus, being the eternal Son of God, was the express image of God.
.
But these things concerning the Godhead are far higher than any human can understand.
.
And yet, one thing is for sure: Jesus was, 
and is in constant communion with the Godhead, of whom He is an integral part…
.
…Jesus and the Father and the Holy Spirit are one in purpose and in communion.
.
Now this concept brings home to each and every Believer the very same concept: “whose companion am I? Who do I admire? Who do I look up to?”
.
Here is the first object lesson.
.
Just as Jesus is one with the Godhead, so must we be one with Jesus.
.

STICKING CLOSE TO JESUS

And back to Planet Mercury, revolves around, the Christian must revolve around Jesus, the ‘Sun of Righteousness’.

And so how does this relate to the Second Commandment?

Just listen to this next passage…
…”But we all, with open face
beholding as in a glass (mirror) the glory of the Lord,
are changed into the same image from glory to glory,
even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
2nd Corinthians 3:18
.
But this verse speaks of the wonderful image that God has in mind for His children to attain to: to be changed into the image of Jesus!

Isn’t this what it’s all about?
.
This is one of the most powerful verses in all of Scripture!

Likewise, Mercury, which is the second heavenly sphere in our solar system, seems to correspond very nicely to the Second Commandment.

Both the second heavenly sphere (Mercury) and the Second Commandment (no images) are closest to the ‘Sun’.

Now pride is considered in the Bible to be one of the “higher” sins of the mind…

…whereas the lusts of the flesh, is considered to be the lower passions of the flesh.

And while the lusts of the flesh are often scorned even by the world, the Pride of Life is more likely to be seen as a virtue.

And yet, pride is especially reprehensible to God. God hates selfish human pride!

While the second face representing the Pharisees, as they professed belief in the Bible, loved the sins of pride, the 3rd face (Sadducees) continually sought after the things of the world.

Yes, these faithless ones (represented by this 3rd face), didn’t believe that being Christ-like could bring the joy necessary to be content.

So, this 3rd face is a Seeker, so to speak.

Back in the 1970’s, a certain saying was popularized…“The Devil made me do it! The Devil made me do it!”

And this was merely mocking Christians, who were seemingly obsessed with pointing the finger at the Devil.

Then they could all joke and mock “the silly and absurd notion” that Satan is a very active and powerful force controlling the peoples of this world…

…”The outbreak began in July 1518 when a woman called Frau Troffea began to dance fervently and uncontrollably in a street in Strasbourg.
Troffea kept up the constant dancing for a week.
Soon, three dozen others joined in. By August, the “dancing plague” had claimed 400 victims.
Dancers were beginning to collapse.
It is said some even died from a stroke or heart attack.
No one knew what caused this reaction, which meant no one understood how to remedy it.
By early September, the outbreak began to subside, when the dancers were sent to a mountain shrine to pray for absolution.”
