And tragically, many people do not have the spiritual armor to resist these unseen evil spiritual beings.

They do not have what the Bible calls, “The Armor of God”.

God spoke several times of Orion, in Scripture.

His question to Job was a very mystifying question, to say the least… “Canst thou…loose the bands of Orion?” Job 38:31.

Such a strange question, indeed!

How could a constellation have its bands loosed, much less, even have bands? Puzzling, puzzling!

But now, He is revealing this bright and beautiful constellation in a way that has never before been seen. God Himself is loosing Orion’s bands, as He is just now unraveling this age-old mystery.

And we are beginning to understand that this most infamous of all constellations is nothing less than a remarkable metaphor concerning Jesus.

NO FEAR?

It seems as though the world is quite often doing exactly the opposite of what they should be doing!

For instance, in a day in which the world is standing on the verge of Eternal Judgment, a popular clothing line comes out with the logo, “NO FEAR”.

.

Now perhaps the creators of this line of clothing had no intention of snubbing their nose at that fearful day in which God will judge the secrets of men’s hearts.

“Therefore pride compasseth them (the wicked) about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment. Their eyes stand out with fatness:…they speak loftily…”

For example, just look at all the movies which Hollywood puts out each year!

And what about social media?!

It’s almost unbelievable to see how social media is constantly pushing foolish arrogant pride upon its viewers!

But certainly, in this very fragile and uncertain world, having a healthy fear would only seem like a prudent and reasonable attitude to maintain!

From poisonous plants to vicious animals, to deadly diseases, to dangerous places, to violent and overtly evil people, there are dangers awaiting us, literally everywhere!

“NO FEAR” IN THE CHURCH?

But it is not only the secular and unbelieving world who snub their noses at God’s great judgment!

No, even much of the Christian world seems to lack enough healthy fear of God…

Listen…“There is no fear in love;

but perfect love casteth out fear:

because fear hath torment.

He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”

1st John 4:18

This above passage is the rationale for many saying…“Oh, we should never ever fear God!”

OUR LOVE IS LESS-THAN-PERFECT

But the problem is, which one of us can claim to have perfect love for God?

.

After all, sin and selfishness is the very essence of rebellion against God’s Law!

And so, for those of us who are still so neck-deep in selfishness, to claim to have such perfect love which “casteth out all fear”, is more than just a bit presumptuous, wouldn’t you agree?

COMPARING SCRIPTURE WITH SCRIPTURE

But even if our love was much more perfect than it presently is, there are many other passages which give us a more well-rounded understanding of our proper relationship to God…

.

Listen…“My flesh trembleth for fear of Thee; and I am afraid of Thy judgments.” Psalm 119:120

.

And any rational Christian would be foolish to reject this above counsel, while clinging only to 1st John 4:18.

TREMBLING AT GOD’S WORD

…”but to this man will I (the Lord) look,

“After all”, say many, “this verse is Old Testament!”

Well, if we really think about it, this entire fallen world has been designed to be, “the school of hard knocks!”

Yes, when Mankind rebelled against Heaven’s government, God has allowed us to continue on in this rebellious world as a means of learning the hard way: to discover that God’s ways are the right ways!

And conversely, we learn that Man’s ways will eventually only bring trouble, heartache and ultimately, destruction!

LEARN FROM HISTORY

And all we have to do, is to look back in history, and it is clearly seen just what are the devastating results of spurning the wise counsels found in the Bible.

Just look at all the wars, and famines, and crimes, and atrocities which have filled the pages of our history books!

(unfortunately, many of today’s school systems have decided that teaching history is detrimental to pushing their socialist/atheist philosophies, and have greatly reduced history classes or have revised and censored some history, so as to promote their totalitarian political/social agendas.)

PLANET EARTH: KNOXHARD UNIVERSITY!

Truly it can be said with “tongue-in-cheek”, that this world is the “Knockshard University” of the universe!

This tiny ball of rebellious dust called, Planet Earth, is the one place in all the vast starry heavens which has decided that we know better than God!

And as one now-deceased songster so appropriately crooned, “I did it my way!”

Yes, we erring humans can all say “Amen” to those words: “we did it our way!”

And so, instead of completely wiping us out, God in His wisdom has decided to allow Mankind to live and work and carry on in our rebellious ways.

And by this means, Mankind will hopefully learn our tough lessons as we attend, “Knockshard University”, this poor old miserable Planet Earth!

THE HOT STOVE LESSON

This is why God doesn’t take away all the disastrous and heart-wrenching results of our folly!

He is our Heavenly Father! And just as any loving parent would do when a child refuses to listen, God has allowed us to burn our fingers, so as to finally understand why He warns, “Don’t touch that hot stove!”

Well, the fact is, we all have many choices to make each day, don’t we, both big and little choices?

And we can finally decide to listen to God’s Book, or we can insist on continue saying, “I did it my way!”

And thus, the question to be answered today is this:

“Am I going to continue to attend that Knoxhard University…

.

…or am I going to attend God’s School of Discipleship?

.

Am I going to continue to take my painful lumps in, “the school of hard knocks”…

.

…or will I finally sit down and begin listening to the peaceful and joyful wisdom from Heaven…’

.

…the wisdom found within the pages of the Bible?”

.

And may each and every one of us stand on that great Day of Reckoning, and joyfully sing, “I did God’s way!”

7 STARS IMITATE THE CROSS OF ORION

 This phenomenon begins in late October, in the pre-dawn hours.

.

It then begins a little earlier each night, and lasts for several months, until they both appear to lie down once again.

.

This Wikipedia star-chart has this Orion Constellation sketched in.

.

You must locate Orion, when it is mid-sky, between east and west.

.

You’ll be facing southward most likely, unless you are far south.

.

Try to imagine it as a Cross on a steep hill.

.

The 3-star belt of Orion becomes the crest of the hill.

.

The 3 very faint stars that make up Orion’s head become the very top of the Cross.

.

Next, locate the 7 Stars Constellation by facing northward.

.

It stands upright a little later in the night.

.

Eventually, Orion will lay down and no longer be seen as an uplifted Cross!

.

Beginning in November, the 7 Stars (AKA Big Dipper) can be seen as a Cross a little bit later in evening.

.

When you are comfortable in locating Orion & The 7 Stars Constellations, then show a friend. This can be a great witnessing tool!

THREE FINGERS POINTING BACK

 Beside being a marvel of functionality, the human hand teaches us lessons.

And even this unbelieving world sees the truth about finger-pointing.

And that lesson is, that when a person points the accusing finger at another, then there are three other fingers on his hand, which point right back to the accuser!

With such an indictment as this above verse points out, how can we still point the accusing finger at any one individual?

Yes, whenever we point the accusing finger at somebody else, there are indeed, three fingers pointing back at us!

And of course, the number “three” is the very number of the Godhead, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

OLD TESTAMENT, REVELATION FOR JEWS

When reading the Bible, there are so many stories which seem to have very little relevance to New Testament Believers.

.

After all, what does the Book of Job have to do with me, or with the Church?

.

Or who cares about some of the almost confusing language found in the books of Isaiah, Jeremiah, Zechariah and the other books.

.

But we are told that those prophecies were for the Old Testament people of God.

.

And then (according to many modern-day teachers), most of the Book of Revelation is likewise written only for the Jews living during the last 7 years of earth’s history.

.

We won’t even be around (or so we are told!) “We’ll all be raptured out of the world, before the last 19 chapters of Revelation even begins to happen”, say modern-day theologians!

OLD TESTAMENT, REVELATION FOR US!

But what most of us do not realize is, that the Bible is a supernatural book!

.

It must be interpreted by the Holy Spirit.

.

And by such a supernatural Power-Source, it will be discovered that every jot and tittle of the Bible directly concerns both the Church, as well as the individual Christian!

.

Listen…“Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples:

and they are written for our admonition,

upon whom the ends of the world are come.”

1st Corinthians 10:11

Here is revealed just why the Bible was given! It is for Christians!

Oh yes, it was first given to the Old Testament people of God.

But mostly, it was not even read nor studied by those people, who greatly were illiterate.

ALL SCRIPTURE FOR DOCTRINE

Listen…“All scripture is given by inspiration of God,

and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction,

So here above, God places His confirmation on all scripture, not just some.

I SHALL NOT WANT? OR SHALL I WANT?

Our souls clamor for nicer homes, nicer cars, nicer RV’s, nicer vacation resorts, nicer restaurants, bigger bank accounts, higher social status, more prestigious careers.

But according to the Bible, these attainments will only bring us to the condemnation which Paul warns of…

…”And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare,

and into many foolish and hurtful lusts,

which drown men in destruction and perdition”

1st Timothy 6:6-8

Now here is a very sad result that Paul warns of, to all those who insist on seeking earthly prosperity!

And Paul defines, “rich” by saying… “And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.” verse 8.

In other words, those who will not be content with food and raiment are wanting earthly riches.

Now Paul, during his captivity in Rome, lived two years in a rented house. And that house was “covering” for him.

And so, we shouldn’t think it wrong to seek after suitable housing, especially if we have a family with varied needs.

We should strive to make them as comfortable as possible, providing them with the nice things of life. 

.

But if I am truly seeking after the perfect peace which comes with walking “even as Christ walked”…

.

…then it is high time that I begin to follow God’s counsels in my own personal pilgrimage.

Yes, perhaps this last verse will be sufficient to convince the reader that having an abundance of possessions is not the way to have peace and quietness…

Listen once again to the “Wise Man”…

but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.”

Proverbs 5:12.

In other words, those of us who desire so much of the world’s riches and goods, will probably end up living WITHOUT that “perfect peace” which the Lord offers us.

VALLEY OF DRY BONES

Well, let’s turn our attention on Ezekiel 37 for a moment…

“Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man,

and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD;

Come from the four winds, O breath,

and breathe upon these slain,

that they may live.”

And in this above passage, this “son of man” was commanded to prophesy to the winds… “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live.”

And from reading the Book of James, it is obvious that he is writing to the Church, which he refers to as the “Twelve Tribes.”

Now just exactly how all this will play out, nobody knows for sure, except Heaven itself.

…and they will awaken to go forth to meet the Bridegroom!

While a dark night is best for seeing the Woman Constellation, the 4 stars which comprise the Narrow Gate/Wide Gate Stars can be seen even under mediocre conditions.

It begins with the Fleeing Woman of Revelation 12 Constellation (AKA Ursa Major) going towards these two doors.

The two bright stars that comprise the Narrow Gate are the two brightest stars of the Orion the Reaper’s sickle.

“Can two walk together except they be in agreement?” Amos 3:3.

To “be in agreement”, as this verse says, with another person, seems to speak of one person reflecting the opinions of another.

They are an “image” one of another, as far as their viewpoints.

As the Moon reflects the light of the Sun, the Moon shines just like the Sun (not as brightly though).

And as Mercury (the second solar-system body) reflects the light of the Sun, it too becomes a light as well.

COMPANIONSHIP BRINGS CHANGE…

The Bible says that “companionship” speaks a lot about who we are.

Have you ever heard the expression, “Tell me who your friends are, and I’ll tell you who you are”?

The Bible asks the very same question, but in a somewhat different way… “Can two walk together, except they are in agreement?” Amos 3:3.

.

But this next verse seems to be an answer to the previous verse. Just listen… “…we…beholding…the Lord…are changed into the same image.” 2nd Corinthians 3:18.

This verse confirms that associating with Jesus we become in agreement with Jesus.

.

EVIL ASSOCIATIONS AFFECT US

.

But this principal of “who we walk with”, also works in the negative sense…

…”Be not deceived:

evil communications corrupt good manners.”

1st Corinthians 15:33.

.

By associating with bad influences, we imperceptibly begin to take on those evil attributes.

“Be not deceived” this last verse states.

.

Every time Scripture issues the warning, we need to realize that Satan will try to deceive us on that very point.

HEAVENLY ROLE-MODELS or HELLISH ROLE MODELS?

As most everyone in the Christian community understands, the Bible uses not only Jesus, but mere mortals, such as Paul, to be role-models for Christians to admire and emulate.

But Lucifer, now called Satan, fully understands this, and has given us his own role-models, for us to conform to.

.

And now, with television, radio, the printed page, and high-tech devices, like never before this Master-Destroyer now projects his own selfish image to the world!

.

And as a result, they eventually begin to emulate those images in their own personal daily lives!

AM I THE MIRROR IMAGE OF JESUS?…

.

“(Jesus) Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of His person…” Hebrews 1:3

.

And speaking of images, the above verse states that Jesus, being the eternal Son of God, was the express image of God.

.

But these things concerning the Godhead are far higher than any human can understand.

.

And yet, one thing is for sure: Jesus was, and is in constant communion with the Godhead, of whom He is an integral part. Jesus and the Father and the Holy Spirit are One.

.

Now this concept brings home to each and every Believer the very same concept: “whose companion am I? Who do I admire? Who do I look up to?”

.

Here is the first object lesson.

.

Just as Jesus is one with the Godhead, so must we be one with Jesus.

.

STICKING CLOSE TO JESUS

.

And back to Planet Mercury, as it revolves around the sun…

.

…so too, the Christian must revolve around Jesus, the ‘Sun of Righteousness’.

.

And so, just how does this relate to the Second Commandment?

.

Well, listen to this next passage…

…”But we all, with open face

beholding as in a glass (mirror) the glory of the Lord,

are changed into the same image from glory to glory,

even as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

2nd Corinthians 3:18

.

But this verse speaks of the wonderful image that God has in mind for His children to attain to: to be changed into the image of Jesus!

.

Isn’t this what it’s all about?

.

This is one of the most powerful verses in all of Scripture!

.

MERCURY & THE 2nd COMMANDMENT 

.

#2 HEAVENLY SPHERE & #2 COMMANDMENT… As discussed elsewhere in this website, the Sun seems to correspond to the First Commandment.

.

Likewise, Mercury, which is the second heavenly sphere in our solar system, seems to correspond very nicely to the Second Commandment.

.

Both the second heavenly sphere (Mercury) and the Second Commandment (no images) are closest to the ‘Sun’.

.

That is to say, just as planet Mercury is the closest planet to the Sun, so is the Second Commandment right next to the First Commandment (God compares himself to the Sun many times in Scripture).

.

Jesus says to us today…

…”I am the light of the world:

he that follows Me shall not walk in darkness,

but shall have the light of life.

John 8:12

In the beginning, God created a wonderful garden for mankind to live in.

And in this garden was every good fruit and herb-bearing seed for food.

Unfortunately, the first occupants were not content to stay with the diet provided for them.

THE AGE OF HEALTH ISSUES

Nowadays, in this age of mass manufacturing, every conceivable food is readily available for a relatively low price.

.

And while in centuries past, the choices of food were very limited, this is no longer the case.

And it seems as if the more choices of food and drink available in society, the greater are the health issues!

SEEKING RELIEF FROM SUFFERING

In Part 1 (click here to read), of this little series of devotionals on suffering, the truth of suffering with Christ was laid out.

But in this Part 2, a remedy will be considered.

And for those of us who would like to enlist the help of nature, God has already given us the model of a healthy environment: the Garden of Eden!

AIR, EXERCISE, SUN, WATER, REST & COMMUNION

Well, of course, the fresh air in that garden was one element which favors health.

And the outdoor exercise from their occupation as gardeners is also another healthful element.

And we shouldn’t overlook the sunshine and pure water which our first parents enjoyed.

.

Let’s not forget their daily rest, both physical, and spiritual!

.

Nor should we overlook the daily communion with their Creator!

.

Now all these elements are already recognized by society as being beneficial to our health.

.

Even prayer has been found to be beneficial to physical and mental health!

BENEFITS OF GOOD DIET

.

But let’s not forget about their original diet of the fruit and herb bearing seeds.

.

Yes, society has embraced the truth that our diet has a big impact on our health!

.

And more and more, society is moving closer to the idea that God’s original diet is the best diet for one’s health.

.

And of course, God’s pronouncement of His creation as being, “very good”, also applied to the original diet which He gave to man…

.

MANY ARE THRIVING ON ORIGINAL DIET

.

There is a large group today, who have embraced this original diet of fresh fruit and herbs.

And they are claiming to have achieved a high level of health from that diet.

DO ALL TO GOD’S GLORY

.

Now, there is no Bible commandment to go on a fruitarian diet.

.

But there are Bible admonishments, such as this…

…”Whether therefore ye eat, or drink,

or whatsoever ye do,

do all to the glory of God.”

1st Corinthians 10:31

.

Yes, everything we do, should be for the glory of God!

.

And our diet is no exception! 

.

WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?

Now for those of us who are wanting to follow Jesus in the area of diet, the Bible gives many hints concerning His choice of diet.

And we also know from Scripture that He was not a big eater, often fasting. 

.

And those who do imitate Christ in all that He did, will most likely find that Christ’s lifestyle, when on earth, was a very healthy lifestyle!

.

And as with every aspect of Christ’s life, there may just be an uphill battle to fight, to finally achieve the victory over our appetite.

.

But if we do not give up, then we will eventually win that victory!

DOUBLE ENTENDRE OF REVELATION 12 WOMAN

.

“For the husband is the head of the wife,

even as Christ is the head of the Church:

and He is the Savior of the body.”

Ephesians 5:23

.

This page concerns the constellation which is commonly known the “Great Bear” which also includes “The Big Dipper“.

.

It actually appears in the summer months as a woman travailing in child-birth.

.

God has purposely given her no head. But God did this to present a very important concept.

.

.

Yes, this woman represents the Church, the “Jerusalem above, which is free, and is the mother of us all” (see Galatians 4:26).

.

You see, the single star she is giving birth to typifies the Christ child.

.

Reading in Ephesians that Christ is the “head” of the Church, this single star is logically going to become her head.

.

But how will that be accomplished? 

.

WOMAN FLIPS AROUND IN WINTER

.

Now, if this Woman-in-Travail were all that the Lord created in the heavens, it would be nothing short of amazing!

.

But as the summer passes, this constellation begins to slowly flip around, until the stars representing her arms now become her legs.

.

And the stars that once represented her legs now become her arms.  

.

And finally, it appears as the Fleeing Woman of Revelation 12.

.

And at that point, this single little star in her womb-area, representing the Christ-child, now becomes her head!

.

And of course, this reminds us of the passage… “And He (Christ) is the head of the body, the Church…” Colossians 1:18.
