Noble Bereans,

.

Part 6:

“Re-thinking Harold Camping Regarding Allegories”

“Which things also we speak,

not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth,

but which the Holy Ghost teacheth;

comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God:

for they are foolishness unto him:

because they are spiritually discerned.”

So, in this little series, the subject of those noble Bereans has been introduced. And today, it is still worthy of a little more exploration of another area of concern.

.

Let’s look at the key Bible passage… “And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming there, went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:10, 11

AN OPEN-MINDED SPIRIT IN BEREA

.

Okay, so these in Berea were more noble, because they:

.

1. “Received the Word with all readiness of mind.”

.

2. “And searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”

.

And so, these Bereans were ready to receive new teachings, which no doubt, conflicted with the supposed, “orthodox” teachings of that day.

.

So there was an open-mindedness which permeated their hearts, and a willingness to search the Scriptures daily, in hopes that these seemingly new teachings were indeed true!

A FAILED PREDICTION?

.

A few years ago, a certain radio Bible teacher made the seemingly failed prediction that May 21st, 2011, would be the last day of earth’s existence, because of the long-promised return of Christ in the clouds of glory.

.

And of course, when that 24-hour day came and went, the world began throwing verbal stones at Harold Camping.

.

But in reality, nothing failed!

.

No, nothing in Camping’s prediction failed! But God purposely allowed this tarrying-time to awaken His sleeping saints, to prepare them to stand in the Day of the Lord!

DISCOVERED MANY ALLEGORIES

.

One great aspect to Camping’s 50 years of teachings, was how he had discovered so many of the deep allegories of so many Bible verses. Yes, the Bible is filled with allegorical stories.

.

And though they were true historical events, yet God orchestrated them in such a way, that they reveal deep spiritual truths.

.

And those who are wise will want to investigate Camping’s many Bible studies, in hopes of learning more and more about the Bible’s true, “hidden manna”, veiled in allegories!

AN ERA OF UNBELIEF

Sadly, we live in an age in which the modern-day theological community has been greatly dwarfed in their thinking by their man-made, false, and unbiblical hermeneutic.

Yes, Satan has crept in unawares with this totally unbiblical hermeneutic which demands that Scripture must be interpreted literally, as far as possible.

THE BIBLE, A SPIRITUAL BOOK

But the Bible commands us to do just the opposite!

Listen…“Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual. As this above passage reveals, those who are yet carnally-minded, scoff at others who see the many spiritual allegories which only make the entire Bible relevant and applicable to the Church today!

Yes, because the Bible is a spiritual book, it is literally teeming with prophetic allegories concerning the Church in these last moments of time.

SPIRIT OF TRUTH or SPIRIT OF ERROR

.

But the problem is that those who are yet carnally-minded, are sensual, not having the Spirit of Holiness.

.

And so, they cannot discern many of the allegories within the pages of Scripture, nor do they even want to!

.

**But the spirit controlling them is, “the spirit of the world”: the “spirit of error”!**

.

Listen…“Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.” 1st Corinthians 2:12

.

Yes, as these devotionals repeatedly proclaim, there are two spirits in the world, and you are either of one spirit or the other! And many are deceived because Satan often comes as “an angel of light”, counterfeiting the Holy Spirit so closely that, if possible, even the very elect will be deceived. (2nd Corinthians 11:14 and Matthew 24:24)

THE SPIRIT OF SLUMBER PREVAILS TODAY

.

It is truly sad that the Christian community is so close-minded.

.

But God has given them the spirit of deep slumber…“According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear; unto this day.” Romans 11:18

.

Yes, just as in the days of Jesus, when contending with the closed-minded leaders of ancient Israel, so too, the same unbelief and hardness of heart exists among God’s teachers today!

LISTEN AND LEARN

But for those who desire to discover more and more of the vast treasure trove of the precious gems of truth hidden within the allegories and parables in God’s Word, they will eagerly listen to the many years of wonderful Bible studies conducted by that master-theologian, Harold Camping!

.

And armed with all the knowledge of the many hidden meanings veiled within the pages of Scripture, these “Noble Bereans” can begin to understand much more of what God is trying to tell us.

.

Yes, as it reveals in the above verse, it is the leaders who mislead God’s people!

It is found in mid-sky traveling from east to west. In January, it is in the west after midnight. As winter progresses, it can be seen earlier and earlier in the evening. a dark sky with good star-visibility is best, but not absolutely necessary to see this constellation. Now one thing that is noticeable and makes this constellation even more dramatic, is the fact that the Milky Way runs right through it. And the question that must be asked is, “What biblical implications does this constellation/Milky Way connection have?” Well, very simply put, if stars represent Believers, then this rider works in the world through His True-Worshippers, to a great extent.

WHY IS THIS CONSTELLATION SO INCOMPLETE IN APPEARANCE

.

So why is this constellation merely an outline? Well it does show his back, rear end and leg…and arm. But unlike, say, Orion, this constellation is very vague, even mysterious in appearance. Almost vacant in appearance. Yes this horseman represents Christ.

But even more than this, it represents the Holy Spirit of Christ. And as we all know, the Holy Spirit is very, very, un-intrusive, almost impossible to detect His presence. Hence, this constellation is perhaps the most faint of all the constellations of Signs Of Heaven!

SEARCHING WITH AN OPEN MIND

And secondly, they searched the Scriptures daily, to see whether those things were so. In other words, these were not just mind-controlled followers of the popular teachers of that day.

No, but rather, they were noble enough to entertain this ill-reputed and much-despised renegade, Paul, who was bringing a very new and different angle on the Scriptures.

WORLD ONLY KNOWS CAMPING BY HIS ERROR

It’s too bad that the world was introduced to Harold Camping only on the back of his seemingly erroneous teaching that the Last Day was merely a 24-hour event.

It’s too bad that the world could not have heard the many wonderful Bible studies which Camping conducted over a 50-year span.

SO, WHERE’S THE NOBLE BEREANS?

So, where’s all the Noble Bereans out there? Where are all the truth-seekers who don’t merely follow the crowd, but are willing to re-examine these teachings with an open mind?

.

After all, Camping didn’t base his end-of-the-world teachings on a dream, nor a vision, nor a voice. No, but instead, he spent average of about 5 or 6 hours a day for years, actually well over 50 years, searching the Bible for his ideas.

.

Yes, for over five decades, Camping studied the Bible to uncover the deeper, hidden truths of God’s Word. And so, he wasn’t coming as a prophet who received a dream or vision or voice. But he was merely declaring what he believed the Bible teaches. Therefore, Harold Camping doesn’t fall into the category of a false prophet; just a Bible teacher who had things almost figured out, but not completely.

HUMAN TEACHERS MAKE ERRORS

Oh no, Harold Camping was not infallible. Of course, there are errors in his 50-year teaching ministry.

.

But Harold Camping freely acknowledged that he too had “feet of clay”.

.

And so, he constantly reminded his listeners to not trust him, but to search the Bible, the only infallible source of truth in this sinful world.

.

Therefore, let’s study our Bible with an open mind, not allowing others to rule over our conscience, but studying for our own self, to discover more and more about our great God and our Savior, Jesus Christ.

CLOSE-MINDED SPIRIT TODAY

No, those Noble Bereans weren’t just trying to find the first flaw, so that they could quickly reject Paul!

.

But that’s how it’s done today, to a great degree!

.

Today we have the same close-mindedness of most of those people back in Paul’s day. Yes, most of them merely suffered Paul to tell what he had say, only listening to him with narrow eyes, and a skeptical heart.

.

Listen…“Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.” Acts 7:51

.

This was God’s assessment of His people. They were satisfied with their traditional doctrines, and wanted nothing new that might upset their comfortable religion. And so, if they heard even one little thing that they disagreed with, they quickly dismissed everything he had to say, and began throwing rocks at Paul!

.

Well, we don’t throw rocks today. Not literal rocks, anyway! But we certainly have the same narrow-mindedness that they had back in those days!

MANY FALSE ACCUSATIONS

Yes, Harold Camping was accused of being a false teacher, all for the sake of getting rich. But those who knew him, knew well, that this dedicated Bible teacher to be a very spiritual servant of God: a man who cared nothing for the riches of this world! But, rather, he loved the heavenly riches found only in the study of God’s Word, the Bible!

.

And the Internet began putting up the most demeaning photos and parodies and mockeries of Camping. And the scathing articles about him were seemingly endless, even making fun of his physical imperfections!

.

Well of course, in the passing weeks, the firestorm which his “failed” prediction caused, began to die down, and the public moved on to other business, and other issues, and forgot about Camping.

.

NOT VOICES OR VISIONS, BUT THE BIBLE ONLY!

.

But did anyone dig into his message, to find out why he believed what he believed? Did any consider that he spent years carefully and prayerfully studying the many prophecies concerning these things? Or the various dates and numbers that he tirelessly scrutinized, to come up with the date of “The Last Day”? Hardly!

.

Or did anyone ever consider that he was not coming as a prophet who spoke to God, or received a vision or a dream?

.

No, Camping’s prediction was based solely on decades of Bible study, studying an average of 5 or 6 hours per day, over a 50-year period. He was merely announcing to the world, the conclusion of his 50 years of careful and prayerful study of God’s Word.

.

But where were all the Noble Bereans, willing to hear the man out? Where were those who were desirous to investigate this lone figure who stood up and challenged the so-called “orthodoxy” of today’s Christendom?

.

Sadly, they were nowhere to be found!

A RE-EXAMINATION

.

But let’s examine his supposed “false prediction”, for a moment. Was Camping really incorrect? And was Harold Camping really a false teacher?

.

And if we are truly like those noble Bereans, we might wish to take some time out to re-examine this much-maligned Bible teacher. After all, if this entire godless world begins to throw rocks at a Bible-believing teacher, then perhaps there is some good thing that might be discovered about that Bible teacher…

.

HATED BY ALL MEN!

Listen… “Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in Heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.” Matthew 5:11, 12

This above passage and many similar ones reveal that true Christians will be hated by the world! And considering this above passage, it sure wouldn’t hurt to give Camping a little re-consideration, since he claimed to love and revere the Bible…

WITCH-HUNTS BACK IN VOGUE!

And Satan now uses the various Internet, TV and radio news sources to conduct various “witch-hunts”, exposing and destroying anyone who dares to make a mistake in what they say, if it transgresses a “politically protected” person, group, tradition, or ideology.

And thus it is, with Harold Camping. Yes, Camping made a seemingly failed prediction regarding the end of the world. And because it did not literally end, everyone was quick to verbally stone that Bible teacher.

And yet, Christians have mostly forgot a very critically important Bible truth!

THIS STAR-CHART: This is a Wikipedia star-chart, in which this site’s editor has sketched in these three constellation (without the Holy-Ghost-Rider Constellation). Notice how the right front hoof is trampling on the tail of the Dragon. Also notice his eye is a star.It’s best seen when in the western half of the sky. It is found in mid-sky traveling from east to west. In January, it is in the west after midnight. As winter progresses, it can be seen earlier and earlier in the evening. a dark sky with good star-visibility is best, but not absolutely necessary to see this constellation. It is found on the opposite side of the Dragon Constellation from Orion. And as already stated, this Goodly Horse Constellation can be seen best in mid-winter when it is in the western side of the sky, and you are looking at it while you are facing west. The nose and head of this horse is partly made from the Perseus Constellation. The tail and rear end is partly of the Cassiopeia Constellation. The hind-leg is made partly of stars from the Andromeda Constellation.

Now one thing that is noticeable and makes this constellation even more dramatic, is the fact that the Milky Way runs right through it. And the question that must be asked is, “What biblical implications does this constellation/Milky Way connection have?” Well, very simply put, if stars represent Believers, then this rider works in the world through His True-Worshippers, to a great extent.

WHY IS THIS CONSTELLATION SO INCOMPLETE IN APPEARANCE

.

So why is this constellation merely an outline? Well it does show his back, rear end and leg…and arm. But unlike, say, Orion, this constellation is very vague, even mysterious in appearance. Almost vacant in appearance. Yes this horseman represents Christ.

But even more than this, it represents the Holy Spirit of Christ. And as we all know, the Holy Spirit is very, very, un-intrusive, almost impossible to detect His presence. Hence, this constellation is perhaps the most faint of all the constellations of Signs Of Heaven!

Daily Devotional, Year 2 – JUNE 13

Why The World Didn’t End on May 21, 2011

.

There was a prediction which sent shock-waves around the globe, that the world was to end on May 21, 2011.

.

The epi-center of this shock-wave was a humble little radio station based out of Alameda California, owned by a dedicated Bible teacher, one Mr. Harold Camping.

.

And this message became a much-watched and much-anticipated event, right up to the very day of May 21, 2011. But when that day came and went, the world sighed a breath of relief, and the skeptics immediately began throwing verbal rocks at Mr. Camping, putting his face on the Internet to mock and deride, calling him a false prophet, etc..

NOT YOUR AVERAGE TELEVANGELIST

But what most people do not realize is, that Harold Camping was a very careful and very serious Bible student and teacher, devoting himself to about 5 or 6 hours of Bible study each day, on the average.

.

And we’re living in a day when popular evangelists quite often live in luxury and opulence.

.

But to those who accused him of being “in it for the money” do not realize that, in his own words, “In all these years, I have served Family Radio as an unpaid volunteer, and have never taken even a nickel in wages”.

.

Yes, instead of gathering to himself the many luxuries which many other evangelists enjoy, Harold Camping lived on money he wisely invested as a young man. He wore old suits, owned two 25-year-old vehicles, lived in the same house for over 60 years, and took no vacations. If he had to fly to meetings, he no doubt would fly “coach class”. And his station was very frugal in their use of money, during his administration.

LOVE AFFAIR WITH BIBLE & HEAVEN!

And because of these factors, and with his wonderful daily Bible studies, Camping’s radio station steadily grew to a worldwide station over a 50+ year period.

.

Another mistaken notion that the world wasn’t aware of, is that in his teachings through those 50+ plus years, he engaged in very thorough Bible studies, never quoting this theologian or that Bible commentator, or even the various well-known Reformers like Luther, or Calvin, or anyone else. No, “the Bible only” was Camping’s mantra for over 50 years of his ministry. He went verse-by-verse through the Scriptures, often cross-referencing other passages which added to a greater understanding of the Bible.

WHY THE WORLD DIDN’T END

.

Now, as to the question of why Mr. Camping mistakenly believed the world would end on May 21, 2011 with the return of Jesus Christ, one only needs to consult the Bible.

.

For the first reference it would be well to look to the prophecy of Habakkuk…

.

Listen… “And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: THOUGH IT TARRY, WAIT FOR IT; BECAUSE IT WILL SURELY COME, IT WILL NOT TARRY!” Habakkuk 2:2, 3

.

You see, Habakkuk was given a vision of God’s people in these last days, being flooded by unbelievers (Chaldeans), to the point that wrong judgment proceeded forth from God’s people. And when the prophet complained to God about this horrible situation in the church-world, God told Habakkuk to write the vision and make it plain upon tables, “that he may run that readeth it”.

THE BEGINNING OF THE END

.

But then notice that God said, “Though it (the vision) tarry, wait for it, because it will surely come, it will not tarry!”

.

And so, this vision of Habakkuk will begin to speak at the end of time. But the vision will tarry, and yet it doesn’t tarry. How confusing! A vision that tarries, and yet doesn’t tarry! What odd language!

.

The fact is, Mr. Camping was indeed correct!

.

Oh no, the world didn’t totally end on that day, as was predicted. But it was indeed “the beginning of the end!” And the ever-increasing flood of wickedness overflowing the world certainly did not tarry either!

WHY ADAM DIDN’T DIE

.

It’s just that we don’t understand how God works, and how God speaks.

.

To see how God works and how He speaks in these end-times, we need look no further than how God worked and spoke at the beginning of Creation…

.

Listen… “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” Genesis 2:17

.

You see, when Adam and Eve ate that forbidden fruit, whatever it was, they did not physically die (though they died spiritually that day). As a matter of fact, Adam lived for another 900+ years. So what happened? Did God’s prophecy fail? No, but death began its process within Adam and Eve on that very day.

A DAY NOT NECESSARILY 24 HOURS

.

And so it is with God’s prophecy of the end of the world on May 21st, 2011. When God speaks of the Day of Judgment, He is not speaking of a literal 24 hour period! We are now in the Day of Judgment.

.

And even though Mr. Camping was well aware of this principle, the Lord closed Camping’s eyes, so that he thought of it as only a 24 hour literal end of the world.

GOD’S PEOPLE IN DRUNKEN SLUMBER

.

“Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine, for it is cut off from your mouth.” Joel 1:5

.

And it’s a good thing that it didn’t fully happen on May 21, 2011. Because most Christians were not prepared to meet Jesus!

.

We were steeped in worldliness and even idolatry as we sought after the worldly pleasures and earthly treasures of this, Satan’s kingdom of selfishness!

.

And so, God, in His great mercy, allowed that delay, to wake up His sleeping saints from our spiritually drunken slumber! God has allowed just enough time for us to get ourselves prepared for that Day! And He allowed this world of sin to sink into the fearful condition it has now is in, to remove any lingering love for this world which we may still have!

TITANIC: A METAPHOR

OF THE WORLD

But Harold Camping’s calculations from the Bible were correct!

.

God’s judgment upon the world did begin on that fateful day, and now we are beginning to take on water just as surely as that supposedly “unsinkable” ship, the Titanic did, after she silently scraped that iceberg!

.

Yes, the world has likewise scraped an iceberg in a metaphorical sense! And unbeknownst to most of us, our good ship, Planet Earth is now taking on water. And just now we are beginning to see God’s judgments falling all around the world! Yes, God is allowing this world to become insanely evil! This is an integral part of His divine judgment!

***ARK OF SALVATION* *READY TO LEAVE***

.

But in the meanwhile, God is using this apparent extension of time, to make a last call, for anyone and everyone to get on board another ship, which will take us to our Promised Land of everlasting joy!

.

Yes, for thousands of years, the doors of mercy have been open to all who would come aboard and be saved. And God used Harold Camping to sound the trumpet that the world has come to its end. A great fiery deluge is about to destroy this world! And along with Camping’s warning, Habakkuk’s vision likewise warns us that the time has fully come to “RUN!”

.

DO NOT DELAY!

.

Isn’t God so merciful, that He cares enough to give us some extra time to flee from the wrath to come?

.

But don’t get too comfortable! At this point, anybody who delays to run to the safety of the Ark of Salvation may be destroyed in the deluge of fire which is soon coming upon this earth!

.

A TARRYING TIME?

.

The doors of God’s Ark are still open. But once they close, there may be a short time of delay, in which God’s people will wonder why, and maybe even feel a little foolish.

.

And just as the earth’s inhabitants laughed and mocked Noah’s family as they waited inside the Ark, because there was a tarrying time of 7 days, there may be a tarrying time ahead for us too, even after those doors of mercy are fully closed!

.

Yes, there always is a tarrying time in God’s economy. This is a time in which God tests and prepares His people. It happened to Jesus’ disciples when Jesus was nailed to the Cross. They all supposed that their hopes were utterly crushed. And they no doubt felt foolish in the eyes of all those scoffers and mockers.

.

But when the appointed hour came, God and His people were vindicated. Jesus arose from the grave!

.

And so it is with this present Judgment Day message. It seemed as though it was a complete failure when May 21, 2011 came and went. But it wasn’t at all a failure! Just a delay! Just a tarrying time!

.

But the Good News is, that those doors of mercy are still open! And whosoever will, may come inside the safety of the heaven-bound Ark of Salvation! But don’t delay! Because once they do close, they will never open again for humanity.

What’s An Aristaphagist!?

“What Did Jesus Eat?”

“Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child,

and thy princes eat in the morning!

Blessed art thou, O land,

when thy King is the Son of Nobles,

and thy princes eat in due season,

for strength, and not for drunkenness!”

One of the chief criticisms of Ellen G. White has been regarding her teachings on vegetarianism.

.

And she cited Genesis as a proof text, in which Man’s original diet was to be fruit, nuts, seeds and herbs, of which God pronounced to be “very good”.

.

But many Christians are quick to point out that the New Testament never commands nor even suggests that we are to abstain from meat-eating.

.

BIBLE HAS TEMPERANCE MESSAGE

.

But the Bible does command us thus…“Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning! Blessed art thou, O land, when thy King is the Son of Nobles, and thy princes eat in due season, for strength, and not for drunkenness!” Ecclesiastes 10:16, 17

.

Here is a call for temperance in diet. One group of princes “feast in the morning”, while another group eat “in due season, for strength”.

.

While this above passage has great spiritual implications, the physical earthly interpretation cannot be overlooked. After all, to “eat in due season, for strength and not for drunkenness” is the very essence of a healthy diet!

THE ORIGINAL DIET: FRUIT & HERBS

.

And so, Ellen White’s counsels on good health practices were very much in harmony with Scripture. And as already mentioned, while the New Testament does not command vegetarianism, the Book of Genesis does indeed reveal that vegetarianism was the original and everlasting diet which God gave to Mankind.

.

And it must be remembered, the original diet will also be the everlasting diet in the “New Heaven and a New earth”.

.

And so, for this reason, Ellen White felt very strongly that vegetarianism was one of the fundamental elements of a healthful lifestyle.

JESUS, THE WAY, TRUTH & LIFE

.

Now having said all this, it must not be overlooked that God has given us a great role-model for all matters of life: Jesus Christ.

.

And Jesus proclaims of Himself…“I am the way, the truth, and the life…” John 14:6

.

Yes, we are commanded to follow Jesus. He is “the Way!” And He is “the Life!”

.

JESUS: A LIFE OF HEALTH

.

And the closer we examine His lifestyle, it appears that Jesus was extremely healthy. After all, his earlier life as a physical laborer (a carpenter), plus the countless miles he traveled on foot during His years of earthly ministry both indicate that Jesus was a very strong and healthy individual (and don’t forget that He spent his last years living totally outdoors on a 24/7 basis).

.

And yet, as we examine the very basic lifestyle of Jesus in the four Gospels, we see that Jesus ate fish. So obviously Jesus’ meat-eating didn’t seem to hamper His health in the least little bit!

.

“COME AND FOLLOW ME!”

And so, while vegetarianism may indeed be one of the key fundamental ingredients to God’s original plan, we need never be afraid of imitating the lifestyle of Jesus: His active lifestyle of fasting, outdoor exercise combined with a simple diet of fish, fruit, whole-grain bread, water, etc., worked well for our divine Role-Model. And we would probably do well to also imitate Jesus in this area of our life, which would no doubt result in our greater degree of health.

.

And truth-be-told, Ellen White would no doubt agree with these things. As a matter of fact, she freely acknowledged that she also ate fish at various times in her long life.

THE WINTER CONSTELLATIONS

Part 61:

“Ellen White On The Ministry of Healing” CONTINUED

“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica,

in that they received the word with all readiness of mind,

and searched the scriptures daily,

whether those things were so.”

Acts 17:11

.

So, in this little series, the subject of those noble Bereans has been introduced. And today, it is still worthy of a little more exploration into another area of concern.

.

Let’s review the key Bible passage… “And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming there, went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:10, 11

.

AN OPEN-MINDED SPIRIT IN BEREA

.

Okay, so those in Berea were more noble, because they:

.

1. “Received the Word with all readiness of mind.”

.

2. “And searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”

.

And because of this excellent, open-minded Spirit, the Bereans were ready to receive new teachings, which no doubt, conflicted with the supposed, “orthodox” teachings of that day.

.

Thus, there was an open-minded love for truth which permeated their hearts, and a willingness to search the Scriptures daily, in hopes that these seemingly new teachings were indeed true!

WHY PHYSICAL HEALTH?

Well, the Bible does place great emphasis on the virtue of temperance. Yes, temperance is an important part of the Christian life. Galatians 5:22 even mentions temperance as being one of the fruits of the Spirit.

“Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.” Isaiah 24:23

When God created the Moon and the stars, He ordained them to “rule the night” (Gen. 1:16). The Moon, especially when it is full, can light your pathway through the night, as it reflects the light of the Sun.

So too, the Christian is to be a light to the world: to this sin-darkened world. But as the Moon must reflect the light of the Sun, in order to be a light to the world, so also must the Christian reflect the light of Jesus, to be a spiritual light to this planet in rebellion. Listen…

“Ye are the light of the world…Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

However, during an eclipse, the Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon, preventing that sunlight from shining on the Moon’s face. This is an incredible object-lesson about when the child of God allows the world to come between him and his Lord. Like the eclipse, that person no longer reflects the light of Jesus, because his or her love of this dark world of sin has eclipsed the light from the “Sun of Righteousness” (see Malachi 4:2).

Noble Bereans?

Part 60:

“Ellen White On The Ministry of Healing”

“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica,

in that they received the word with all readiness of mind,

and searched the scriptures daily,

whether those things were so.”

Acts 17:11

So, in this little series, the subject of those noble Bereans has been introduced. And today, it is still worthy of a little more exploration into another area of concern.

.

Let’s review the key Bible passage… “And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming there, went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:10, 11

.

AN OPEN-MINDED SPIRIT IN BEREA

.

Okay, so those in Berea were more noble, because they:

.

1. “Received the Word with all readiness of mind.”

.

2. “And searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”

.

And because of this excellent, open-minded Spirit, the Bereans were ready to receive new teachings, which no doubt, conflicted with the supposed, “orthodox” teachings of that day.

.

Thus there was an open-minded love for truth which permeated their hearts, and a willingness to search the Scriptures daily, in hopes that these seemingly new teachings were indeed true!

THE 1ST ANGEL’S MESSAGE

.

In presenting the message of the 1st angel of Revelation 14, Ellen Gould White touched on nearly every part of the Bible. Her ministry was not confined to just a few areas of concern as many of her critics erroneously suppose. No, but rather she presented the Gospel as found in both testaments, New and Old. And though she often paraphrased Bible verses with her own phraseology, she nevertheless stayed well within the framework of the parameters which God laid down in His Word.

.

Mrs. White wrote on varied topics, such as child-rearing, education, Old Testament stories, New Testament stories, personal behavior by church members, proper conduct in relation to unbelievers, acts of charity, and other topics concerned with the Gospel.

HEALTHFUL LIVING

.

But among those topics, Ellen White wrote extensively on physical health and how God has provided various health benefits to be found in nature: fresh air, sunlight, pure water, healthful diet, exercise, temperance, etc…

.

Now as one explores her writings on health, it cannot be overlooked that she took some of the basic principles of the Bible and applied them to the fundamentals of good health. For instance, she often spoke of eating an abundance of good quality fruit, reminding us of “the fruit of the Spirit”. Or she advocated eating good quality bread, reminiscent of “the bread of life”, Jesus.

“I will praise THEE; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made”

Psalm 139:14

Mrs. White also realized that God designed the human body as a metaphor of the kingdom of God. She saw those verses which hinted at such a relationship, not only concerning the body, but of all nature being filled with parabolic symbolism concerning the government of Heaven and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

THE MINISTRY OF HEALING

.

Well, today’s devotional has included the 18 minute audio reading of the 1st Chapter of her book, “The Ministry of Healing”. And as “Noble Bereans”, we would want to give this book a listen to, in hopes that “those things were so”. Acts 17:11

The Church community has long ago adopted a theologian-concocted hermeneutic which demands a literal interpretation unless that passage specifically demands a spiritual interpretation.

.

And so, the many articles on this website encourage Christians to throw off that false and unbiblical hermeneutic and begin to search out the true spiritual nature of those Bible stories and parables. And by prayerfully and carefully “comparing spiritual things with spiritual”, the Bible student can eventually arrive at the true spiritual interpretation of each allegory and parable. (see 1st Corinthians 2:13)

THE HOLY GHOST RIDER CONSTELLATION

.

This newest Signs Of Heaven Constellation (Fall, 2013) is by far the faintest of constellations, but is a very incredible and awesome one in a number of ways (which this article will explain).

.

It is primarily comprised of the Camelopardalis Constellation (head and upper back), plus about 5 stars from the Cassiopeia Constellation (his leg), plus some random stars. It appears as an outline of a rider. Only the back of his head is detailed. And his back and the back of his legs are also detailed. Both sides of his arm are visible, and his hand is gripping the horses mane, and that is detailed by three stars (which are also part of the horse’s mane). The rider is in a position vaguely similar to a race-horse jockey. The two brightest stars in this constellation, are from the Cassiopeia Constellation, and are part of his leg. All the rest of the stars are very faint, and must be viewed on a very starry night.

.

Since this constellation has just been revealed, there may be more to this constellation in the coming months. But if you can locate the Goodly Horse in Battle Constellation, then you shouldn’t have too much trouble locating this Rider Constellation, provided you have excellent star-watching conditions.

.

“HE THAT HATH EARS TO HEAR”

.

“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;” Rev. 2:7, 11, 17, 29, 3:6, 13, 22

As you can easily see, this horse has some very big ears. Of course, this presents a very big concept. And since this Rider represents the Holy Spirit, it is obvious that He is leaning close, as if to whisper His words in the horses’ ears. And so what is He (The Spirit) whispering in this horses ears? Well, primarily the messages to the 7 churches, found in Revelation Ch.’s, 2 & 3.

.

But not everyone has ears to hear. Listen to Ezekiel… “Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house.” Ezek. 12:2. Yes, the rebellion amongst God’s professing people was great, and they had all but closed their ears from hearing truth.

.

Well it’s the very same problem in the New Testament. Listen to Jesus… “If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.” Mark 7:16.

.

So this Rider whispering into this Horse’s ears is a heavenly picture of this concept… “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;” Rev. 2:7, 11, 17, 29, 3:6, 13, 22.

.

Now the great lesson to be learned, is that there are certain truths, which those who are rebellious in God’s house, will not be able to hear. And these messages to the 7 churches are those very types of messages, that many “Christians” just do not like to hear.

.

And so, what is the bottom line. Well, it would be a very good idea, for each and every one of us to humble ourselves before God, and plead with Him to give us spiritual ears to hear these deeper truths which God is trying to tell us.

In yesterday’s devotional (click here), it was pointed out that the Church of Rome mostly appeals to two classes, which encompasses nearly the entire world: “those who would be saved by their own merits, and those who would be saved in their sins. Here is the secret of its power.” Great Controversy p. 573

.

In other words, Catholicism appeals to those who have little desire to fully enter into Christ’s rest. They merely maintain a one-day good work: a spurious sabbath of Man’s own design!

.

This way, they are free to pursue the pleasures, ambitions and the lusts of this present selfish world! And then, they can merely go to church for a few hours followed by a return to their worldly pursuit of pleasure, and earthly cares.

JESUS GIVES US SPIRITUAL REST

**In the March 31st devotional (click here), it was pointed out how the Passover and Unleavened Bread feast were to be kept throughout time, but in a spiritual manner, not physically nor literally.**

So too, the 7th-Day Sabbath is to be kept spiritually. Listen to Jesus…“Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

.

**Here we see that Jesus offers a “rest unto your souls”.**

SALVATION ON OUR OWN TERMS

Now, having said all this, listen to this very revealing statement from Ellen White, regarding the progenitors of the Sunday Sabbath, the Roman Catholic Church…“A prayerful study of the Bible would show Protestants the real character of the papacy and would cause them to abhor and to shun it; but many are so wise in their own conceit that they feel no need of humbly seeking God that they may be led into the truth. …The papacy is well adapted to meet the wants of all these. It is prepared for two classes of mankind, embracing nearly the whole world–those who would be saved by their merits, and those who would be saved in their sins. Here is the secret of its power.” Great Controversy p. 573

Here she speaks of the secret of the power of the papacy: “those who would be saved by their merits, and those who would be saved in their sins.”

“NO REST, DAY NOR NIGHT”

Well, if this is the secret of the power of the papacy, then what is missing in the lives of these Church-of-Rome followers?

They have no rest unto their souls! They are still under the yoke of bondage to their worldly spirit!

They want to be saved, but only under their own conditions.

NOT A MERE 24-HOUR-PER-WEEK REST

Now listen to Revelation 14 as it describes those who have received the Beast’s mark…“they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.” Revelation 14:11

Now it clearly teaches here that there is no rest, day nor night, for those who receive the Beast’s mark.

.

In other words, these recipients of the Beast’s Mark have no rest 24/7/365. This is not merely a 24-hour rest on Friday to Saturday night! And so, it cannot be speaking of rest according to the letter of the law.

.

No, but rather, it is speaking instead, of a SPIRITUAL rest, which they do not now have…“But the wicked are like the troubled sea, when it cannot rest, whose waters cast up mire and dirt. There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked.” Isaiah 57:20

.

**So here is the Mark of the Beast spoken of way back in Isaiah’s day! The wicked “cannot rest”, and “there is no peace” in their souls.**

And so, those who have not thoroughly studied Ellen White’s writings, do not fully understand what causes people to receive the Beast’s Mark.

It is not merely worshiping on “this day” or on “that day” which commends or condemns.

THE TWO BEASTS OF REVELATION 13

The Lord gave Ellen White great insight into Bible prophecy.

.

And she rightly discerned that the two beasts of Revelation 13 were not merely two individual humans, as the modern-day churches now teach.

.

But she taught that these two beasts were actually Satan’s Antichrist governing powers which ruled throughout the New Testament era.

SATAN A COMPLICATED BEING

Now, what makes this a complex issue, is that Satan is a very complicated being. That is why he is described as a beast having numerous heads, numerous horns, and numerous crowns.

And with a body comprised of various beast-like components, it becomes clear that we are dealing with a very complex foe. (And let’s face it! Sin is complicated!)

Now, Ellen White did a masterful job of describing the oppressive Church of Rome during the Dark Ages.

And the Reader is encouraged to listen to her rather lengthy dissertation on this subject, included in today’s devotional.

But as good as her teachings may be, it must be understood that she did not claim to have all the truth. Listen to her own disclaimer regarding her very own writings…

“We have many lessons to learn, and many, many to unlearn. God and Heaven alone are infallible. Those who think that they will never have to give up a cherished view, never have occasion to change an opinion, will be disappointed. THE SABBATH REST

.

One of the most prominent teachings in the Adventist Church is regarding the Sabbath, and how it relates to the Mark of the Beast, which she says is Sunday worship.

.

But what most Adventists do not consider is that the Bible is a spiritual book. And when it comes to holy days, the spiritual meaning must not be overlooked.

.

For example, listen to Paul as he spoke about the Feast of the Passover and Unleavened Bread…

“Purge out therefore the old leaven,

that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened.

For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven,

neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness;

but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.”

1st Corinthians 5:7, 8

.

**Now here was a feast to be celebrated throughout time. And yet, Paul revealed how it is to be kept: spiritually, and not physically nor literally. “Christ our Passover”, the Bible tells us.**

A 2ND BEAST, THE FALSE PROPHET

.

Listen to her teaching on the 2nd Beast of Revelation 13, The False Prophet…“But the beast with lamb-like horns was seen “coming up out of the earth.” Instead of overthrowing other powers to establish itself, the nation thus represented must arise in territory previously unoccupied and grow up peacefully. It must be sought in the Western Continent. What nation of the New World was in 1798 rising into power, giving promise of strength, and attracting the attention of the world? One nation, and only one, meets this prophecy—the United States of America.” The Great Controversy p.273

THE BEAST RISING UP OUT OF THE EARTH

Now even though she correctly pinpointed these two beasts as the oppressive powers of Europe (the 1st Beast) and the United States (the 2nd Beast, the False Prophet) her reasoning was somewhat incomplete. For instance, she couldn’t see that the 2nd beast rising up out of the earth symbolized the source of the 2nd Beast’s power: the produce of the earth, the industrial revolution and later, the high-tech revolution.

HORNS LIKE A LAMB

.

Secondly she did not fully understand the two horns of the lamb-like 2nd Beast as being the same power authority of the Lamb of God, mercy and justice.

Nevertheless, her ability to discern as much as she did, way back in the 19th Century could only be due to the enlightenment from God. (of course, it wasn’t her discernment, but rather, it was God’s infinite knowledge which enlightened his servant, Ellen)

.

Nevertheless, we are now witnessing the lamb-like nation of the United States beginning to become an oppressive power, spreading its tentacles throughout the world.

BEAST NOW SPREADING BEYOND OUR SHORES

Yes, these two horns representing a counterfeit mercy/compassion (the beast’s left horn) and a counterfeit justice/morality (the beast’s right horn) are now spreading beyond the shores of the United States.

And why not? Because actually, this power is nothing less than Satan as he spreads his antichrist spirit around the world, bringing the entire world under the control of these two powers.

Yes, this False Prophet is a lamb-like power, a false Christ, ready and able to deceive the entire world, causing them to worship the 1st Beast, who is the image of Satan, the Revelation 12 Dragon.

7 STARS IMITATE THE CROSS OF ORION

.

This phenomenon begins in late October, in the pre-dawn hours. It then begins a little earlier each night, and lasts for several months, until they both appear to lie down once again.

.

This Wikipedia star-chart to the left, has this Orion Constellation sketched in. You must locate Orion, when it is mid-sky, between east and west. You’ll be facing southward most likely, unless you are far south. Try to imagine it as a Cross on a steep hill. The 3-star belt of Orion becomes the crest of the hill. The 3 very faint stars that make up Orion’s head become the very top of the Cross.

Next, locate the 7 Stars Constellation. This 7 Stars Constellation is seen by facing northward. It stands upright a little later in the night. Eventually, Orion will lay down and no longer be seen as an uplifted Cross! Beginning in November, the 7 Stars (AKA Big Dipper) can be seen as a Cross a little bit later in evening.

**When you are comfortable in locating Orion & The 7 Stars Constellations, then show a friend. This can be a great witnessing tool!**

In this work-a-day world, most of the emphasis is on physical labor.

And so, to a great degree, society measures all humans by their physical output.

Even the various “Christian TV networks” encourage their audience to get out and evangelize the world (of course, this evangelism brings in larger audiences & revenue for those networks, so you can hardly blame them!)

“COME…APART…AND REST A WHILE”

But in this Desire of Ages audio chapter close to the bottom of the page, Ellen White speaks of the true account in which Jesus commanded His disciples to, “Come…apart…and rest a while” Mark 6:31

.

In this audio reading, Ellen White stressed the importance of getting alone with God, and contemplating His Word of life.

She emphasized the importance of personal spiritual renewal.

As a matter of fact, she lived an extremely busy life, far more than most humans could endure.

JESUS PRAYED

Even Jesus needed His alone time with His Father…“And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, He was there alone.” Matthew 14:23

Yes, Jesus left His busy ministry to get alone with His Father, often praying until the light of dawn!

This was the source of His great spiritual and physical strength!

And of course, His life is to be our divine role-model.

**And we must remember that Jesus calls His yoke “easy” and His burden “light” (See Matthew 11:28-30). God would rather see His creatures resting than over-engaging in toil.**

And in regard to the Christian life, He informs us…“And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.” John 17:3

.

Christianity is a relationship of the heart. Therefore, all the Lord requires is that we get to know Him.

Because, to genuinely know God…is to love God!

ORION THE GOOD SHEPHERD

.

And this concept of the Good Shepherd is portrayed in the night sky, in this 5th personality of the Orion Constellation (see “The Orion Phenomena”). And it is a concept which the Lord would have His own people learn and live. God’s people are likewise to become good shepherds too, in our own little sphere. That is, we are to seek and to save the lost, just as we see our Lord doing so. This is part of what it means to follow Jesus. We become imitators of our Lord, the true Good Shepherd.

ORION, THE GOOD SHEPHERD

This star-chart from Wikipedia, has Orion sketched in by the editor of this website. With the addition of a single star, Theta Geminorum (the left hand of the Castor twin of Gemini), the sickle in Orion, the Reaper’s hand (sketch to left), now extends the blade, thus transforming that sickle into the hook of a shepherd’s rod and staff. And so now this little Gemini star becomes the tip of Orion’s Shepherd’s rod & staff. Thus with this additional star, Orion the Reaper Constellation now becomes the 5th personality of Orion: The Good Shepherd (sketch below right). Theta Geminorum is a class A3, 4th magnitude star, which means it is much fainter than either of the stars, Castor or Pollux. But faint as This little star may be, it nevertheless presents a giant concept, turning Orion’s sickle into a shepherd’s rod. And this is a very wonderful and beautiful Bible truth: namely, that Jesus is the Good Shepherd, as is written…

Vincent Van Gogh, one of the world’s most infamous artists, once cut off his ear (or part of his ear), to prove his love for a certain “women of ill repute”.

And so, his unsuccessful attempt to woo this adulterous women which he loved, left Van Gogh without his one ear (at least in part).

WE TOO HAVE CUT OFF OUR EAR!

Now today’s society laughs at Van Gogh’s foolish “sacrifice of love”.

And yet, many Christians have cut off both ears, for the sake of a harlot woman’s love!

.

WELL, HOW COULD THAT POSSIBLY BE TRUE!?

.

Yes, many, or perhaps most of the professed people of God have made an even greater, “sacrifice of love” for a certain, “woman of ill repute”, which is the Bible symbol for the apostate portion of the Church!

.

In other words, the Bible compares the apostate churches to an adulterous woman. (For greater insight into this truth, read the article, Today’s Devotional – May 12th (Come Out of Her, My People! Part 1)

And those who remain in such dead congregations, do not and cannot hear nor understand the deeper truths veiled within the seemingly countless allegories, parables and types and symbols found therein.

“YE NEED NOT THAT ANY MAN TEACH YOU”

Some 60 years ago, one commercial construction engineer named Harold Camping began a radio station dedicated to broadcasting the Gospel to San Francisco Bay area.

.

**And about the same time, this engineer-turned-Bible-teacher decided to begin studying his Bible as if he were cramming for a college final exam.**

.

And so, for about an average of 5 or 6 hours per day, Camping began studying his Bible, comparing scripture with scripture, and spiritual things with spiritual. And rather than reading the writings of the past theologians, Camping decided to let the Bible-only, be his sole arbiter of truth.

“THEREFORE I SPEAK TO THEM IN PARABLES”

Matthew 13:13

Well, in the process of time, Camping realized that the Bible was a spiritual Book. In other words, he began to discern that the many various stories of both testaments presented spiritual truths, which were veiled within the many allegories, parables, and prophecies contained therein.

.

You could say that Camping had “ears to hear” in a day when most Bible teachers and theologians do not see, nor do they hear the deeper spiritual truths of “hidden manna”, veiled within those true historical accounts.

.

A WALKING PARABLE? OR NOT?

Now it is rather interesting, that when looking at a photo of Harold Camping, he obviously had extremely large ears!

.

It almost reminds one of the many times in which God said something like, “He that hath ears to hear, let him hear!” Matthew 11:15, etc…

.

And from looking at his photos, it was evident that Camping definitely had ears to hear!

CAMPING, A WALKING PARABLE?

.

Well, whether or not God purposely gave Harold his large ears that he might be a walking parable, is really irrelevant.

.

The fact is, although not trained in theological seminaries, Harold Camping arguably became one of the greatest theologians of the New Testament era, cracking open seemingly countless mysterious Bible verses which no other theologian could previously interpret or discern!

NOBLE BEREANS

Oh no, Camping’s teachings were not perfect. And yet, he corrected many of the gross errors of the so-called “orthodox” teachings of the Christian church-world!

And all that a Noble Berean has to do is to listen to the many audio Bible studies contained at the bottom of each day’s devotional, to see whether or not this website’s glowing assessment of Harold Camping is accurate.

THE HOLY GHOST RIDER CONSTELLATION

.

This newest Signs Of Heaven Constellation (Fall, 2013) is by far the faintest of constellations, but is a very incredible and awesome one in a number of ways (which this article will explain).

.

It is primarily comprised of the Camelopardalis Constellation (head and upper back), plus about 5 stars from the Cassiopeia Constellation (his leg), plus some random stars. It appears as an outline of a rider. Only the back of his head is detailed. And his back and the back of his legs are also detailed. Both sides of his arm are visible, and his hand is gripping the horses mane, and that is detailed by three stars (which are also part of the horse’s mane). The rider is in a position vaguely similar to a race-horse jockey. The two brightest stars in this constellation, are from the Cassiopeia Constellation, and are part of his leg. All the rest of the stars are very faint, and must be viewed on a very starry night.

.

Since this constellation has just been revealed, there may be more to this constellation in the coming months. But if you can locate the Goodly Horse in Battle Constellation, then you shouldn’t have too much trouble locating this Rider Constellation, provided you have excellent star-watching conditions.

.

“HE THAT HATH EARS TO HEAR”

.

“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;” Rev. 2:7, 11, 17, 29, 3:6, 13, 22

As you can easily see, this horse has some very big ears. Of course, this presents a very big concept. And since this Rider represents the Holy Spirit, it is obvious that He is leaning close, as if to whisper His words in the horses’ ears. And so what is He (The Spirit) whispering in this horses ears? Well, primarily the messages to the 7 churches, found in Revelation Ch.’s, 2 & 3.

.

But not everyone has ears to hear. Listen to Ezekiel… “Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house.” Ezek. 12:2. Yes, the rebellion amongst God’s professing people was great, and they had all but closed their ears from hearing truth.

.

Well it’s the very same problem in the New Testament. Listen to Jesus… “If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.” Mark 7:16.

.

So this Rider whispering into this Horse’s ears is a heavenly picture of this concept… “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;” Rev. 2:7, 11, 17, 29, 3:6, 13, 22.

.

Now the great lesson to be learned, is that there are certain truths, which those who are rebellious in God’s house, will not be able to hear. And these messages to the 7 churches are those very types of messages, that many “Christians” just do not like to hear.

.

And so, what is the bottom line. Well, it would be a very good idea, for each and every one of us to humble ourselves before God, and plead with Him to give us spiritual ears to hear these deeper truths which God is trying to tell us.

“Ellen White’s & Harold Camping’s Views of the Sabbath”

“Come unto Me, all ye that labour

and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me;

for I am meek and lowly in heart:

and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”

It is somewhat puzzling that these two messengers of the messages of the three angels found in Revelation 14, had two different opinions regarding which day of the week was the true Sabbath.

.

Harold Camping regarded the “Sunday Sabbath”, while Ellen White insisted that the true Sabbath had never been changed from “sundown on Friday to sundown on Saturday”.

A SABBATH “REST UNTO YOUR SOULS”

.

And yet, both Ellen White and Harold Camping taught that Christ offers us a “rest unto your souls”. Yes, the greatest emphasis, found throughout the ministries of both Ellen White and Harold Camping, was concerning this spiritual “rest unto your souls”, which every true worshiper enjoys.

.

And this “rest unto your souls” is actually the indwelling of the Holy Spirit of God, which inspires the Believer to love the Bible, prayer, and meditating day and night on Christ, as revealed in the Scriptures. And by this indwelling Spirit, the Believer now receives a love for the things of Heaven.

.

And whether at work, or at repose, or at recreation with his or her family, the Believer strives to allow Christ to live out His life through that Christian Believer.

.

And this spiritual rest was the main thrust of both White’s and Camping’s ministries.

.

A REST FROM DO-IT-YOURSELF SALVATION

.

Now Harold Camping also saw the 7th Day Sabbath as the symbol of “Salvation by Grace”.

.

In other words, just as the 4th Commandment commands people to cease from doing any work on the Sabbath, likewise, God commands a person to cease from doing any work out of the hope of obtaining Salvation by that human effort. In other words, Salvation is a gift, and there is no “good work” which one might perform, that could ever secure one’s salvation.

.

Even the ability for a Believer to choose to follow Him is a gift from above!

.

Oh yes, Christ’s rising on the first day of the week was used in Scripture to symbolize the resurrected life in Christ which Believers are to live. But never were we to go beyond the authority of Scripture and make that day into something it was not intended to be!

**The resurrected life is to be a 24/7/365 “Rest unto your souls”.**

Who would have ever imagined that God had long ago placed the starry constellations in such a precise way, that they would become a heavenly portrait of the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

.

It’s such an incredible idea, that those who do finally discover and confirm these signs for his or her own self, they will no doubt continually marvel at this heavenly gift right up to the time when Christ appears in the clouds of glory!

.

“WISE MEN STILL SEEK HIM!”

(A currently popular saying)

But in addition to the sheer wonder of it all, they give God’s people confidence that the Way that He is now wanting them to go has been clearly marked out by these heavenly sign-posts!

.

Yes, just as that star long ago guided the wise men from the East to the fore-promised Messiah, these “signs in the Sun, Moon, and stars” are now guiding wise men today, to the long-awaited Return of the Son of Man! (see Luke 21:25)

.

And so, that first star 2,000 years ago was a forerunner of Arcturus, as this great star, Arcturus, now guides its sons (and daughters) in these last moments.

ARCTURUS, THE GUIDING STAR TODAY

Listen as God Himself asks this question…“or canst thou guide Arcturus with his sons?” Job 38:32

This little prophecy, tucked way back into that Book of Job, is now being fulfilled as we behold that very bright star, Arcturus, seemingly leading these great constellations on a northward sojourn through the dark night sky.

LOCATING ARCTURUS…

.

An easy way to find Arcturus is to follow the arc of the handle of the Big Dipper, in the spring through fall (these are the months in which Arcturus is visible).

.

SUMMER CONSTELLATIONS: (Sketch to right: constellations span the heavens (Ark in south, 7 Stars in north), and travel from east to west through the night.

This sketch is of the Summer Constellations as they appear when in the western half of the night sky. The box-like constellation is the The Ark of the Covenant (AKA Sagittarius) is in the south. To the right is both the Flower of the Field Constellation (AKA Scorpius) and the The Cross/Scepter Constellations. Further to the north is the Crown of Revelation Twelve (AKA Corona Borealis Constellation) and the star, Arcturus. Farthest to the north is the 7 Stars Constellation (AKA The Big Dipper )

“And I heard another voice from Heaven,

saying, Come out of her, My people,

that ye be not partakers of her sins,

and that ye receive not of her plagues.

For her sins have reached unto Heaven,

and God hath remembered her iniquities.”

Ellen White and Harold Camping were not as far off from each other as many would like to suppose.

.

Both of these messengers foresaw that the time would come when God would call His people out of the fallen, apostate churches and denominations.

“COME OUT OF HER, MY PEOPLE!”

Revelation 18:4

.

Listen to her quote concerning God’s call to “Come out of her, My people”…“This scripture (Revelation 18:4, 5) points forward to a time when the announcement of the fall of Babylon, as made by the second angel of Revelation 14 (verse 8), is to be repeated, with the additional mention of the corruptions which have been entering the various organizations that constitute Babylon, since that message was first given, in the summer of 1844. A terrible condition of the religious world is here described…A belief in spiritual manifestations opens the door to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, and thus the influence of evil angels will be felt in the churches…But God still has a people in Babylon; and before the visitation of His judgments these faithful ones must be called out, that they partake not of her sins and “receive not of her plagues.” Hence the movement symbolized by the angel coming down from Heaven, lightening the earth with His glory and crying mightily with a strong voice, announcing the sins of Babylon. In connection with his message the call is heard: “Come out of her, My people.” These announcements, uniting with the third angel’s message, constitute the final warning to be given to the inhabitants of the earth. {Great Controversy 604.1, 2}

.

Well, this quote points forward to the time when this announcement is made to the world. But Harold Camping was the fulfillment of this prophecy. Oh no, Camping wasn’t an angel. But the Angel which lightens the earth with His glory is none other than the mighty Angel of the Covenant, the Lord Jesus Christ, the eternal Son of God!

CAMPING TRUMPETED THE CALL TO ‘COME OUT’

7 STARS IMITATE THE CROSS OF ORION

.

This phenomenon begins in late October, in the pre-dawn hours. It then begins a little earlier each night, and lasts for several months, until they both appear to lie down once again.

.

This Wikipedia star-chart to the left, has this Orion Constellation sketched in. You must locate Orion, when it is mid-sky, between east and west. You’ll be facing southward most likely, unless you are far south. Try to imagine it as a Cross on a steep hill. The 3-star belt of Orion becomes the crest of the hill. The 3 very faint stars that make up Orion’s head become the very top of the Cross.

.

Next, locate the 7 Stars Constellation. This 7 Stars Constellation is seen by facing northward. It stands upright a little later in the night. Eventually, Orion will lay down and no longer be seen as an uplifted Cross! Beginning in November, the 7 Stars (AKA Big Dipper) can be seen as a Cross a little bit later in evening.

**When you are comfortable in locating Orion & The 7 Stars Constellations, then show a friend. This can be a great witnessing tool!**

O Taste and See That The Lord Is Good!

“The Wedding At Cana”

“O taste and see that the LORD is good…

He left not Himself without witness,

in that He did good,

and gave us rain from heaven,

and fruitful seasons,

filling our hearts with food and gladness.”

From reading the Chapter, “The Marriage At Cana” from the Ellen White book, “The Desire of Ages”, it becomes evident that Ellen White was no steely-eyed cult leader, as many erroneously suppose.

.

**Oh no, this book (The Desire of Ages) is by no means an infallible work. Rather, she freely acknowledged that she also had “feet of clay”.**

.

Nevertheless, upon hearing this 25-minute audio reading (scroll almost to the bottom of the page to hear), it rather is made manifest that Ellen White had great love for her Lord, and a deep reverence for His infallible Word! (Of course, this fact is likewise made quite clear from reading so much of her writings!)

.

CHRISTIAN LIFE GETS BETTER AND BETTER

.

Now, upon listening to this chapter, Ellen White speaks of a number of spiritual lessons that this wonderful account teaches.

.

And, about 10 minutes into this audio reading she speaks of how the six water-pots of wine actually represent the joyful life of Christian Salvation. (But she also warns against the dangers of alcohol.)

.

GOING TO THE LOST

And about 20 minutes into this audio reading, Ellen White uses that Cana wedding as a means of emphasizing the importance of using social occasions for the purpose of leading the unsaved to Christ.

Of course, she also warned against freely mingling with unbelievers merely for pleasure.

.

But as one studies her writings, it becomes evident that her own personal life was very social, as she constantly let her light shine, ministering to many different persons, often inviting them to her own dinner table.

HEAVENLY OBJECT LESSON

.

“Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.” Isaiah 24:23

.

When God created the Moon and the stars, He ordained them to “rule the night” (Gen. 1:16). The Moon, especially when it is full, can light your pathway through the night, as it reflects the light of the Sun.

.

So too, the Christian is to be a light to the world: to this sin-darkened world. But as the Moon must reflect the light of the Sun, in order to be a light to the world, so also must the Christian reflect the light of Jesus, to be a spiritual light to this planet in rebellion. Listen…

.

“Ye are the light of the world…Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 5:14-16

.

However, during an eclipse, the Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon, preventing that sunlight from shining on the Moon’s face. This is an incredible object-lesson about when the child of God allows the world to come between him and his Lord. Like the eclipse, that person no longer reflects the light of Jesus, because his or her love of this dark world of sin has eclipsed the light from the “Sun of Righteousness” (see Malachi 4:2).

.

To write this book, Ellen White drew primarily from the four Gospels to tell in story form, the life and ministry of Jesus. But she also snatched bits and pieces from many other parts of the Bible as well, spiritually applying them to expand this story.

Day by day, you will find yourself walking, like the Disciples, spreading the precious Gospel seed wherever the Spirit leads.

Taking the lovely name of Jesus, with every word spoken. Walking through this sin-darkened world, witnessing to those who take notice that of a truth, Jesus is present within you. Even like faithful Enoch, walking through the highways and byways of life in this world, spreading the Gospel-seed of unpretentious love.

Day by day, you will become more and more closed in with God. Moment by moment, your heart will become intertwined with God’s heart, eventually two hearts beating as one heart.

And just like Enoch, when the appointed time of sojourning on earth is finally done…you will walk onward…and upward…and into the highways and byways of eternity. (“And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.” Genesis 5:24).

Ellen White performed and completed a wonderful task in presenting the life and ministry of Jesus in her book, “The Desire of Ages”. This account presents the Gospel of Jesus in story-book form, and yet strives to stay true to the Bible.

And today’s audio reading of that book is a masterfully done commentary on Jesus as He overcame the temptations of Satan in the wilderness.

“IN REGARD TO INFALLIBILITY, I NEVER CLAIMED IT”

Oh no, it is not an infallible work. But then again, Ellen White never claimed infallibility, but rather, she joyfully acknowledged, “In regard to infallibility, I never claimed it; God alone is infallible. His Word is true, and in Him is no variableness, or shadow of turning.”—Letter 10, 1895. {1SM 37.4}

She knew that her writings were blessed by God, but never were on the same infallible level of the Bible.

**But rather, by reading her letters, articles, and books it becomes evident that she always attempted to uplift and exalt Jesus and never herself. And this book, Desire of Ages, is no exception!**

Now in yesterday’s devotional (click here to read), the focus was on Ellen White’s comments regarding Orion (which constellation God mentions several times in Scripture).

.

And she wrote the following statement…“Dark, heavy clouds came up and clashed against each other. The atmosphere parted and rolled back; then we could look up through the open space in Orion, whence came the voice of God. The Holy City will come down through that open space.” {From the Ellen White book, “Early Writings”}

.

Now this statement seems to be not only very cryptic, but very puzzling as well! After all, where in the Bible does it ever say that God’s voice came through that constellation? And where does it ever prophesy that “The Holy City will come down through that open space”?

THE HORSE NEBULA?

Well, many Adventists believe that the great “Horse Nebula” of Orion is that “open space”. And they may well be correct.

.

But there is another aspect to Orion which makes true biblical sense concerning her Orion statement.

THE NARROW WAY & BROAD WAY

.

Well, if the Reader will study the Signs Of Heaven Article, “Orion the Reaper”, it can be seen that the two brightest stars in Orion’s sickle represent “The Narrow Way”, as spoken of in Matthew 7:13, 14… “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.”

.

Here is a very renowned Bible passage which has, no doubt, sparked many discussions and debates through the centuries concerning this concept of a narrow way and a broad way.

.

THE TWO WAYS DEPICTED IN THE NIGHT SKY

.

Yes, both the “Narrow Way” and “The Broad Way” are represented in the Heavens.

.

And while the two brightest stars in Orion’s sickle represent the Narrow Way, the two brightest stars of the Revelation 12 Dragon’s wave of water coming out of his mouth represent the Broad Way that leads to destruction.

.

And as this star-chart shows, the Narrow Way stars are much closer together than the Broad Way stars.

A SPIRITUAL MEANING?

.

And so, it makes perfect sense that these Narrow Way stars could very well be what Ellen White was speaking of as “The open space in Orion”. After all, isn’t the “Narrow Way” actually referring to the spiritual doorway that we must enter into to receive our Salvation?

.

And so, Ellen White may indeed have been referring to this spiritual concept depicted in the heavens. In other words, Ellen White was quite possibly speaking of a spiritual concept and not a literal one.

.

THE NARROW WAY IS THE ONE TRUE PATH TO SALVATION

.

Well, those who feel strongly that the great Horse Nebula was what Mrs. White was referring to, may be partly right. But this Orion the Reaper Constellation may actually be what her comment was referring to.

**Nevertheless, the Reader is encouraged to make sure that he or she has truly entered into the true “Narrow Way” (Christ) in their own life. For He is the only true Doorway to Salvation!**

The Strait Gate is the Narrow Way and the broad way is the Wide Gate

“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.” Matthew 7:13-14

THE NARROW WAY: THE PILGRIM’S PATHWAY

.

That world-shaking allegory, Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan, picked up the theme of the Narrow Gate. The hero of the story was Christian, a man who was warned to flee from the City of Destruction (the world), and to embark on a journey to the Heavenly City. And along the way, Christian encountered many adventures and dangers. This first of its kind allegorical book absolutely rocked the western world, and became perhaps the first million seller book (along with the Bible).

.

But God has also given this same Narrow Way parable in the night heavens! Incredible? Yes, incredible…and amazing too! And though these two stars can hardly be considered a constellation, but when sitting next to the two stars which comprise the Broad Gate, well, it makes a powerful statement, for the people of God.

.

So please come along on this journey and find out just why this pathway graces the night heavens, and perhaps you might find yourself embarking on your own pilgrimage up that very same Narrow pathway.

LOCATION

This most amazing phenomenon is seen throughout the winter. Although it can be observed most of the winter, it is seen best when it is the western part of the sky, at winter’s end (The end of winter being the final scene of this heavenly Gospel story). Orion , the Dragon, and the Glorious White Horse are beginning to descend into the western horizon (sketch to right is Winter Constellations descending into western horizon. This can actually be seen as early as December, in the pre-dawn hours).

.

And at this point it is apparent that the Fleeing Woman of Revelation 12 Constellation is veering toward the two bright stars, known as Castor and Pollux (sketch below). But the Wide Gate Stars are composed of the two brightest stars of the Auriga Constellation, known as the star, Capella, and the star, Menkalinan. The two stars, Castor and Pollux, make up the concept of the Orion’s Narrow Gate Stars.

.

This can even be observed into June in the western sky (for a short time just after dark). While a dark night is best for seeing the Woman Constellation, the 4 stars which comprise the Narrow Gate/Wide Gate Stars can be seen even under mediocre conditions. It begins with the Fleeing Woman of Revelation 12 Constellation (AKA Ursa Major) going towards these two doors.

.

The sketch to left shows, the two doors are each composed of two bright stars. The two bright stars that comprise the Narrow Gate are the two brightest stars of the Orion the Reaper’s sickle. The two stars that comprise the ‘Wide Gate’ Stars are the two brightest stars of the wave of water that comes out of the Dragon Constellation’s mouth (for explanation of “Wave of Water”, just click here). The stars that make up the ‘Narrow Gate’ are about half the width of the Wide Gate (see sketch to right).

Ellen White’s ministry was a fulfillment of the Revelation 14:6, 7 prophecy…“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, ‘God, and give glory to Him; for the hour of His judgment is come: and worship Him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.'”

No, she wasn’t an angel, but in this above passage, we see that the everlasting Gospel was to be preached to the Earth’s inhabitants. And indeed, during her 70-year ministry, Ellen White wrote on perhaps every aspect of the Old and New Testaments, covering a myriad of topics! Oh yes, often times she simply paraphrased Bible passages, while other times she quoted the passages verbatim.

ORION GETS THE VICTORY

.

Now if you will stay up all night, you will see that the tables turn very dramatically for our three warriors.

.

This is because, as night progresses, and this constellation group moves to the west, God has designed this threesome to now be in the opposite circumstance. Now it is Orion and his Horse who are atop the Dragon. Now Orion is about to cut off the Dragon’s head with his two-edged sword, while the Horse is stomping on his tail. And of course, there needs to be no explanation, because this picture tells the whole story. Jesus wins in the end! God’s people are victorious at last! No wonder the Bible calls this story…“The Good News”!

HEAVENLY OBJECT LESSON

.

“Then the moon shall be confounded, and the sun ashamed, when the LORD of hosts shall reign in mount Zion, and in Jerusalem, and before his ancients gloriously.” Isaiah 24:23

.

When God created the Moon and the stars, He ordained them to “rule the night” (Gen. 1:16). The Moon, especially when it is full, can light your pathway through the night, as it reflects the light of the Sun.

.

So too, the Christian is to be a light to the world: to this sin-darkened world. But as the Moon must reflect the light of the Sun, in order to be a light to the world, so also must the Christian reflect the light of Jesus, to be a spiritual light to this planet in rebellion. Listen…

.

“Ye are the light of the world…Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” Matt. 5:14-16

.

However, during an eclipse, the Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon, preventing that sunlight from shining on the Moon’s face. This is an incredible object-lesson about when the child of God allows the world to come between him and his Lord. Like the eclipse, that person no longer reflects the light of Jesus, because his or her love of this dark world of sin has eclipsed the light from the “Sun of Righteousness” (see Malachi 4:2).

.

“SPIRITUAL THINGS MUST BE SPIRITUALLY DISCERNED”

1st Corinthians 2:14

This Chapter 44 from Great Controversy draws from many Bible passages from such books as Joel, Revelation, and other Bible prophecies.

Now, having said all this, it is not currently known how much of her fearful account must be understood literally or spiritually.

We do know that the Bible is a spiritual Book. And those who are spiritual will be ready to compare “spiritual things with spiritual” (see 1st Corinthians 2:13).

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

.

One important truth which must be remembered is that the Ten Commandments are a synopsis of the entire Bible. And so, those two stone tablets symbolize any and every Word of God. True, those who knew nothing of the Bible, will be judged by the Law according to the little light they had knowledge of.

.

But Christians will be judged by a much higher standard, even as it is written…“For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required” Luke 12:48

.

Yes, the more that a Christian knows of God’s Word, the higher will be the standard by which he or she will be judged.

THE 4TH COMMANDMENT

.

Now as the Noble Berean listens to this audio chapter found at almost the bottom of this page, the question of the 4th Commandment will be brought to mind.

.

What must be remembered is, that even though Ellen White often referred to the Old Testament understanding of the 7th-Day Sabbath, the New Testament Believer must keep in mind what Jesus spoke concerning “the Rest that remaineth” to the New Testament people of God. (see Hebrews 4:9, 10)

.

Listen to Jesus…

“Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden,

and I will give you rest.

Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me;

for I am meek and lowly in heart:

and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

.

Here Jesus speaks of the true Sabbath that remains to the people of God. It is a spiritual “rest unto your souls”. And He speaks of the heavy burden of the labors of sins, and how we may escape this heavy burden by following Him as His disciples, ever learning of Him.

Perhaps at the end of each day, maybe while lying down in bed, we need to spend much time thinking back on how we might have overcome that big or little attack by the Devil. Just what “exceeding great and precious promises” could have been employed, which would have given us the victory over the temptations which assailed us in our daily warfare?

Listen…Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises:

that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature,

having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”

Constant learning and hiding of the many Bible’s promises into our hearts is a critically important part of our daily walk in the Lord!

LOCATING THIS CONSTELLATION…

.

This “Golden Altar” Constellation is only seen in winter through spring, in mid-sky. It is to the south of the “Fleeing Woman Constellation” (AKA Ursa Major or The Big Dipper).

.

The “Fleeing Woman of Revelation 12” Constellation is in the northeastern sky in this sketch. You would be facing east and looking very high up almost to mid-sky to see this constellation group this way. The altar is farther south but still in the eastern sky. This altar itself is commonly known as “Leo Major“, with the smoke rising being “Leo Minor“.

.

A little farther down this page is the sketch of this same constellation in the latter part of winter, when you look at them facing westward. You will notice that what looked like Gospel seed being cast from her left hand and left foot (see “Woman of Revelation 12-The Fleeing Woman” article for explanation of casting “Gospel Seed”) now appears like smoke or incense rising from the altar. It is not clear why the altar is sideways in back of the Woman. It would make more sense if it were directly under the Woman. However, the Lord must have some spiritual truth to convey concerning this odd positioning of the Altar. The 7 Stars (Big Dipper) is easy to see with its very bright 7 stars. But the Revelation 12 Woman (Ursa Major) must be seen on a dark starry night, away from city lights.

Yes, there are two natures in which each Believer has, “The Old Man…which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts…” Ephesians 4:22, and, “The New Man…which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” Ephesians 4:24

Here above, we see that “The Old Man” which has been indwelling the hearts of the unsaved, furiously wages an unprecedented spiritual war against “The New Man” now dwelling within the Believer’s heart.

THE FLESH AGAINST THE SPIRIT

Now, this Bible Truth of the spiritual war within Christians is spoken of in slightly different terms in the little book of Galatians…“For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.” Galatians 5:17

.

This above verse speaks of the struggle between the flesh and the Spirit, which is a constant spiritual warfare which every Believer must fight on a daily basis.

Now, Ellen G. White has a somewhat different interpretation of this coming “Time of Trouble”. Yes, Ellen White saw the struggle of God’s people as a struggle with the unsaved multitudes, both in the world, but also the unsaved within the churches.

Yes, the time is near when every true Christian will be struggling against the unsaved multitudes of this rebellious planet.

THE HOLY GHOST RIDER CONSTELLATION

.

This newest Signs Of Heaven Constellation (Fall, 2013) is by far the faintest of constellations, but is a very incredible and awesome one in a number of ways (which this article will explain).

.

It is primarily comprised of the Camelopardalis Constellation (head and upper back), plus about 5 stars from the Cassiopeia Constellation (his leg), plus some random stars. It appears as an outline of a rider. Only the back of his head is detailed. And his back and the back of his legs are also detailed. Both sides of his arm are visible, and his hand is gripping the horses mane, and that is detailed by three stars (which are also part of the horse’s mane). The rider is in a position vaguely similar to a race-horse jockey. The two brightest stars in this constellation, are from the Cassiopeia Constellation, and are part of his leg. All the rest of the stars are very faint, and must be viewed on a very starry night.

.

Since this constellation has just been revealed, there may be more to this constellation in the coming months. But if you can locate the Goodly Horse in Battle Constellation, then you shouldn’t have too much trouble locating this Rider Constellation, provided you have excellent star-watching conditions.

.

“HE THAT HATH EARS TO HEAR”

.

“He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;” Rev. 2:7, 11, 17, 29, 3:6, 13, 22

As you can easily see, this horse has some very big ears. Of course, this presents a very big concept. And since this Rider represents the Holy Spirit, it is obvious that He is leaning close, as if to whisper His words in the horses’ ears. And so what is He (The Spirit) whispering in this horses ears? Well, primarily the messages to the 7 churches, found in Revelation Ch.’s, 2 & 3.

.

But not everyone has ears to hear. Listen to Ezekiel… “Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house.” Ezek. 12:2. Yes, the rebellion amongst God’s professing people was great, and they had all but closed their ears from hearing truth.

.

Well it’s the very same problem in the New Testament. Listen to Jesus… “If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.” Mark 7:16.

.

So this Rider whispering into this Horse’s ears is a heavenly picture of this concept… “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches;” Rev. 2:7, 11, 17, 29, 3:6, 13, 22.

.

Now the great lesson to be learned, is that there are certain truths, which those who are rebellious in God’s house, will not be able to hear. And these messages to the 7 churches are those very types of messages, that many “Christians” just do not like to hear.

.

And so, what is the bottom line. Well, it would be a very good idea, for each and every one of us to humble ourselves before God, and plead with Him to give us spiritual ears to hear these deeper truths which God is trying to tell us.

Noble Bereans,

Part 47:

“Do Ellen White and Harold Camping Agree?”

So, in this little series, the subject of those noble Bereans has been introduced. And today, it is still worthy of a little more exploration into another area of concern.

.

Let’s review the key Bible passage… “And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming there, went into the synagogue of the Jews. These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” Acts 17:10, 11

.

AN OPEN-MINDED SPIRIT IN BEREA

.

Okay, so those in Berea were more noble, because they:

.

1. “Received the Word with all readiness of mind.”

.

2. “And searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”

.

And with such a godly attitude, the Bereans were ready to receive new teachings, which no doubt, conflicted with the supposed, “orthodox” teachings of that day.

.

Thus, there was an open-mindedness which permeated their hearts, and a willingness to search the Scriptures daily, in hopes that these seemingly new teachings were indeed true!

.

WHITE AND CAMPING DISAGREE

.

Those who follow the writings of Ellen G. White, for the most part, cannot respect the ministry of Harold Camping, and visa-versa. There are just too many seemingly contradictory teachings.

.

First and foremost is that Ellen White held to the Saturday Sabbath, while Camping believed in the Sunday Sabbath.

.

WHITE AND CAMPING AGREE

.

But there are many doctrines which both Camping and White taught, and agreed upon.

.

First, they both believed that the Bible was the Word of God and must be followed and lived by.

.

Secondly, they both taught that God would call His people to make an end-time exodus out of the apostate church-world, to take their stand in the last moments of time, against the apostasy which pervaded and made ruin of the entire church-world.

.

Third, they both believed that Christians must strive to live holy, blameless lives.

.

SABBATH: “REST UNTO YOUR SOULS”

see Matthew 11:28-30

.

But even though Camping erroneously taught that Sunday was the New Testament Sabbath, he also firmly believed that the 7th Day Sabbath was still to be observed in a spiritual sense.

.

In other words, Camping believed that Believers must cease from thinking that any work they might perform could ever secure their Salvation.

.

That is, Camping taught that there must be a Sabbath Rest from any sort of “Do-it-yourself” type of Salvation in which a Christian must perform some little deed to secure his or her Salvation: baptism, saying the Sinner’s Prayer, church-going, or any other “good work”.

OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS

.

And also, it must be remembered that Ellen White’s ministry preached “the everlasting Gospel” which included the Old Covenant. And so, many of her teachings were based on Old Testament concepts.

.

Thus, God raised up Harold Camping’s ministry to direct New Testament Believers away from attempting to literally keep the Old Testament holy days, but that they must be kept in the spiritual sense.

THE LETTER OF THE LAW

.

Now of course, these truths are very difficult for most Adventists who have been thoroughly groomed to keep the Sabbath by the letter of the law, and not in the spiritual sense.

.

And combined with Camping’s erroneous teaching concerning the so-called “Sunday Sabbath”, this presents an insurmountable stumbling block for most Adventists!

.

STUDY, BEREAN, STUDY!

.

Now, one thing has to be remembered.

.

The proper way to test the authenticity of Ellen White’s Message and Harold Camping’s message is to study each message separately, that the truth-seeking Berean might prove to his or her own self, the veracity of each message. And this website is confident that any and every true worshiper of God will become satisfied that these two messengers were faithful servants of Christ.

.

This same method of testing applies to the message of the 3rd angel. Spend copious amounts of time studying this message on its own merits, apart from the other two messages, remembering that God sends “strong delusion” to all those who have not received the love for the truth. (see 2nd Thessalonians Chapter 2)

“GOOD NEWS FROM A FAR COUNTRY”

Proverbs 25:25

.

But the Good News is, that God is now opening our eyes to see this new message, written in the Sun, Moon, and starry heavens. And those Adventists who have truly received the love of the truth, will be like the Noble Bereans of Acts 17, who study with an open-minded passion to find truth concerning these perplexing issues, no matter where that truth leads!

.

These Noble Bereans will not be afraid to follow Ellen White’s admonition, “We have many lessons to learn, and many, many to unlearn. God and heaven alone are infallible. Those who think that they will never have to give up a cherished view, never have occasion to change an opinion, will be disappointed. As long as we hold to our own ideas and opinions with determined persistency, we cannot have the unity for which Christ prayed.”—The Review and Herald, July 26, 1892. {1SM 37.3}
“In regard to infallibility, I never claimed it; God alone is infallible. His word is true, and in Him is no variableness, or shadow of turning.”—Letter 10, 1895. {1SM 37.4}

.

So you see, Ellen White did not believe her writings to be infallible, but rather subject to correction, if need be. Praise the Lord, that God raised up such a humble instrument such as Ellen White, who was not at all averse to correction! Therefore, let’s make sure we have this same humility and meekness in our own lives!

A NOTE OF INTEREST TO ADVENTISTS

.

By the way, if the Reader would search Ellen White’s “morning message” on the morning after Jones and Waggoner stunned the brethren and church leaders at the 1888 conference, they would find an even more pointed statement in regard to her writings. Unfortunately, somebody has deleted that statement from the Ellen White Writings CD’s (why they did this is not known), which will require one to get the Book on her sermons from that 1888 Conference.

.

However, the statement goes something like this: She began by saying…“Gentlemen, you look very tired and discouraged this morning (The message of Jones and Waggoner was a discouraging one for most of the audience, that previous night – Ed.) … “The law, the law, the law!”, She went on to say, “I’m so tired of hearing, ‘The Law, the law, the law! I rejoice in the message that these two men have brought to us! I have never said that my writings are infallible. If upon a careful and prayerful study, there needs to be a change made in my writings, it should be done after much prayerful consideration.”

.

This statement by Ellen White reveals so much about what Jones and Waggoner said the previous night.

The Revelation 12 Dragon Constellation can be located by finding Orion in winter months. The Dragon is to Orion’s left, and the Dragon’s mouth is right next to Orion’s shield. This Dragon’s mouth is the V-like constellation The Hyades Cluster, which is also known as the head of Taurus the Bull. The Dragon’s tail-tip is Pleiades and the lower shaft of his tail is partly of Aries and Pisces. Then with aid of a dark and starry night, you may begin to connect the mouth and the tail with a very long body in an oval shape. The front and back legs are made of a few stars: the front legs partially of stars from Taurus . The back legs and rear fin are made of 6 stars from the Cetus Constellation.

BODY HARD TO SEE

.

The long oval-shaped body has relatively few stars, but can been seen, howbeit with a dark, starry night. The four stars of the front fins are made partially of Taurus .

.

FIRST APPEARS IN MID-SUMMER

.

This Dragon constellation appears in the eastern horizon about mid-summer in the pre-dawn hours, spewing his flood-waters northward toward the Revelation 12 Woman in Travail (not pictured in this chart).

.

The Wave of Water is primarily composed of the Constellation Auriga. There are two dimmer stars (#’s 1 & 2) which are closest to the Dragon’s mouth. These two dimmer stars are also part of this Wave of Water, but are not part of the Auriga Constellation.

“Re-Thinking Ellen White Concerning the Adventist Apostasy”

There are many who condemn Ellen White as being a false prophet and cult leader. But more often than not, most people rarely spend any time really studying her writings.

.

And so, instead of an open-minded researching of her writings like all truth-seeking, “Noble Bereans” do, they instead read some short “hit-piece” publication with a list of her supposed false doctrines.

.

And sadly, this is enough to satisfy most churchgoers.

.

BITTER DISPUTE WITH HIERARCHY

.

And because of this ignorance, few people realize that Ellen White engaged in years of disputes with the leaders of her own denomination, because of their apostate behavior. And in addition, she was a sharp critic over the worldliness that began to enter into the Adventist denomination just a few short years after its inception. And this apostasy continued throughout its sad history.

.

And the bitter dispute with the church hierarchy became sharpest in the 1890’s, until she finally had to remove herself from this most distasteful situation: she moved to Australia for a few years (in which she founded churches, hospitals and schools in the “down under” country).

OTHER CHURCHES NO WORSE THAN ADVENTISTS

.

Just listen to her sharp rebuke to her own denomination concerning their condemnation of other churches…“Among the professed children of God, how little patience has been manifested, how many bitter words have been spoken, how much denunciation has been uttered against those not of our faith. Many have looked upon those belonging to other churches as great sinners, when the Lord does not thus regard them…If they had had the light that many of the members of our churches have had, they might have advanced at a far greater rate, and have better represented their faith to the world.” {RH August 1, 1893, par. 5}

.

Here is revealed that Ellen White was not just some steely-eyed cult leader. Her only loyalty was to God alone, and to His infallible Bible. Oh yes, she loved “The Church”. But ultimately, she regarded God’s true Church as being comprised of only the true worshipers of God, no matter what church or denomination they belonged to.

“WHERE TWO OR THREE ARE GATHERED TOGETHER”

.

Listen to her statement regarding God’s true Church…“God has a church. It is not the great cathedral, neither is it the national establishment, neither is it the various denominations; it is the people who love God and keep His commandments. ‘Where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them’ (Matthew 18:20). Where Christ is even among the humble few, this is Christ’s church, for the presence of the High and Holy One who inhabiteth eternity can alone constitute a Church.” {Upward Look 315.5}

So, this above quote reveals that Mrs. White was under no delusion that Salvation must require membership to the Adventist denomination, as many today ignorantly accuse her.

“BROUGHT DOWN TO HELL”

.

As a matter of fact, during her bitter dispute with the Church hierarchy during the 1890’s, she wrote…“Of those who boast of their light, and yet fail to walk in it, Christ says, “But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. And thou, Capernaum [Seventh-day Adventists, who have had great light], which art exalted unto Heaven [in point of privilege], shalt be brought down to Hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day. But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.” {RH August 1, 1893, par. 5} (Parenthetical comments by Mrs. White)

Here was a stinging rebuke to a denomination which was rebelling against God’s Word because of their love of this present world.

“COME OUT OF HER, MY PEOPLE”

.

And just one year prior to this above quote, she actually advocated bringing out God’s people from that denomination…“There is a little hope in one direction: Take the young men and women, and place them where they will come as little in contact with our churches as possible, that the low grade of piety which is current in this day shall not leaven their ideas of what it means to be a Christian.” {12 Manuscript Releases p. 333.1}

.

AFTER 150+ YEARS, THE APOSTASY STILL GROWS

Tragically, the Adventist Church has continued down the road to ruination!

And such additional sins as committing mass murder of innocent unborn children, in their hospitals as well as placing their seal of approval on unnatural relationships, have made it abundantly manifest to all sincere worshipers of God, that His Spirit of Holiness no longer abides there, but has been “taken out of the midst”. (see 2nd Thessalonians 2:7)

THE CHIEF OF SINNERS: ME!

Now it should be no joyful duty to condemn any church or denomination. Any such criticism should only be done with fear and trembling!

And when we consider our own sins, we must agree with Paul…“Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.” 1st Timothy 1:15

.

“FLEE OUT OF THE MIDST OF BABYLON…AND DELIVER…HIS SOUL”

Nevertheless, God is now calling His people to come out of Babylon, the apostate church-world.

And all those Adventists who truly love the Lord will realize that they must “flee to the mountains” and join with those who belonged to non-Adventists denominations who likewise have come out of this church-wide apostasy which has spread throughout all denominations.

**In Part 1 (click here to read), a very critically important truth was established, concerning how the apostate portion of the Church cannot properly discern spiritual things to a great degree.**

.

For the vast majority of theologians and Bible teachers, they do not engage in thorough, comprehensive Bible study, comparing all related passages on various aspects of Bible prophecy, trying to relate all to the Church…“I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches.” Revelation 22:16

.

This above verse at the end of Revelation is not properly understood by the apostate portion of the Church. They do not understand that Revelation, all 22 chapters, was written for the Church, because it all has to do with events in the churches throughout New Testament times!

“THEIR EARS ARE DULL…THEIR EYES…CLOSED”

But this inability to see the true spiritual meaning is not completely the fault of these apostate Bible theologians and teachers.

.

They simply do not have eyes to see nor ears to hear the true spiritual nature of the Bible.

Listen to Jesus…“For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.” Matthew 13:15

“THESE THINGS…FOR OUR ADMONITION”

This above verse from Matthew 13:15 applies not only to the Old Testament people, but also to us, “Now all these things happened unto them (Old Testament Israel) for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.” 1st Corinthians 10:11, 12

And so, blindness is upon the apostate portion of the Church, that they cannot see the deeper spiritual meaning to these prophecies.

“BUT THE NATURAL MAN RECEIVES NOT…BECAUSE THEY ARE SPIRITUALLY DISCERNED”

1st Corinthians 2:14

Therefore, instead of comparing all related Bible passages concerning this or that particular aspect of prophecy, these blind guides usually just look out on the political landscape of the Middle East and try to find some similar situation by looking at the daily news.

.

But what they do not understand is that in so-doing, they are violating the cardinal rule concerning how to properly decipher Bible prophecy.

.

“EVERY WORD OF GOD IS PURE…ADD THOU NOT…AND THOU BE FOUND A LIAR!”

Proverbs 30:5

Listen to this fearful warning from this cardinal rule… “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and [from] the things which are written in this book.” Revelation 22:18, 19

.

You see, by attempting to interpret Bible prophecy through comparing scripture with newspaper stories, they are unwittingly adding to God’s Word, joining it to the words of mere erring humans, via the daily news reports.

.

In other words, instead of comparing the Bible with the Bible and spiritual things with spiritual, to find how prophecy relates to the Church and to the war between Heaven and Hell, they instead mistakenly try to relate Bible prophecy to current political events.

.

WHITE AND CAMPING

.

On the other hand, both Ellen White and Harold Camping realized that Bible prophecy relates to the Church, both the apostate portion and the faithful portion, and how Heaven and Hell have been battling against each other, for victory over the Church.

ONLY AFTER ALL HOMEWORK ACCOMPLISHED

Now having said all this, it also must be said that there is indeed a time to look out into the world to see the fulfillment of Bible prophecy.

But that’s only when the Bible student has done his or her due diligence in comparing all related scriptures to discern the true spiritual fulfillment of each metaphor, and how it relates to the Church, and to the Gospel, and to the war between Heaven and Hell.

STUDY NOBLE BEREAN, STUDY!

Now, both Camping and White viewed Revelation from somewhat different vantage points. But every true Noble Berean is highly encouraged to dig in to “The Great Controversy” and to Harold Camping’s daily radio broadcasts via these devotionals, and begin to prayerfully blend these two teachings together along with this signsofheaven.org ministry, to more fully comprehend what God wants us to understand.

And of course, the Bible is the premier Book to study, since it gives us the foundation of truth to confirm or disprove the veracity of all human teachings.

THE HOLY GHOST RIDER CONSTELLATION

.

This newest Signs Of Heaven Constellation (Fall, 2013) is by far the faintest of constellations, but is a very incredible and awesome one in a number of ways (which this article will explain).

.

It is primarily comprised of the Camelopardalis Constellation (head and upper back), plus about 5 stars from the Cassiopeia Constellation (his leg), plus some random stars. It appears as an outline of a rider. Only the back of his head is detailed. And his back and the back of his legs are also detailed. Both sides of his arm are visible, and his hand is gripping the horse’s mane, and that is detailed by three stars (which are also part of the horse’s mane). The rider is in a position vaguely similar to a race-horse jockey. The two brightest stars in this constellation, are from the Cassiopeia Constellation, and are part of his leg. All the rest of the stars are very faint, and must be viewed on a very starry night.

.

Since this constellation has just been revealed, there may be more to this constellation in the coming months. But if you can locate the Goodly Horse in Battle Constellation, then you shouldn’t have too much trouble locating this Rider Constellation, provided you have excellent star-watching conditions.

THIS STAR-CHART: This is a Wikipedia star-chart, in which this site’s editor has sketched in these three constellation (without the Holy-Ghost-Rider Constellation). Notice how the right front hoof is trampling on the tail of the Dragon. Also notice his eye is a star.It’s best seen when in the western half of the sky. It is found in mid-sky traveling from east to west. In January, it is in the west after midnight. As winter progresses, it can be seen earlier and earlier in the evening. a dark sky with good star-visibility is best, but not absolutely necessary to see this constellation. It is found on the opposite side of the Dragon Constellation from Orion. And as already stated, this Goodly Horse Constellation can be seen best in mid-winter when it is in the western side of the sky, and you are looking at it while you are facing west. The nose and head of this horse is partly made from the Perseus Constellation. The tail and rear end is partly of the Cassiopeia Constellation. The hind-leg is made partly of stars from the Andromeda Constellation.

“Woe unto you,

when all men shall speak well of you!

for so did their fathers to the false prophets.”

In time past, a “holy man” was buried. And his burial was performed with great pomp and ceremony.

Heads of state and world leaders were eager to boast glowing remarks and utter high praises about this extremely popular religious man.

.

“WOE…WHEN ALL MEN SHALL SPEAK WELL OF YOU!”

Now of course, all this worldly praise for that “giant of faith”, obviously makes any Bible-savvy Christian rather nervous, especially when we have such warnings as our today’s signature verse…“Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.” Luke 6:26

.

Here is just one of many verses which caution against the idea that the world will ever love us, especially if we are called to publicly proclaim the truth…“Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.” 1st John 3:13

1ST & 2ND ANGEL’S MESSAGES

.

Two very-much-despised and hated messengers of the Gospel were both Ellen White and Harold Camping.

.

As a matter of fact, Ellen White’s message was so maligned and misunderstood through the years, that even Harold Camping, who came along decades later, likewise scorned and criticized her message!

THE WORLD HATED JESUS

.

So just what was wrong with this famous and highly revered holy man’s message which caused all the world to love him so?

.

After all, even the Gospel which Jesus preached, finally caused the world to crucify Him…“The world cannot hate you (speaking to His unsaved brethren); but Me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.” John 7:7

.

This message which caused the world to hate and finally destroy the Savior, is the very same message which both White and Camping preached: that this hopeless world is utterly deluged in wickedness!

.

And so, the world reacted to their messages with the same vilifying hatred which Jesus received in His day.

PROSPERITY-DRIVEN GOSPELS TODAY

But in today’s Christian community, there is a carefulness to avoid too much criticism of the world…“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;” 2nd Timothy 4:3

Here is foretold of a day in which parishioners will no longer tolerate the plain unvarnished truth.

.

Yes, the churches are filled with parishioners who love this present self-centered world more than we love Heaven. Thus, we demand a gospel which doesn’t spend much time condemning this selfish world.

WORDS & LIFESTYLE PREACH DIFFERENT SERMONS

Now of course, one common deception of Satan is to preach two different sermons in today’s churches. While condemning the world in tongue only, many preachers and parishioners alike actually praise the world by our own world-loving lifestyles.

Thus, a mixed-message is sent out, thereby encouraging world-loving souls to come into the churches and denominations.

7 HEADS, 10 HORNS, & 7 CROWNS OF THE DRAGON

.

“And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads.” Revelation 12:3

.

In Revelation, the Dragon of Revelation 12 is described as having seven heads, ten horns, and seven crowns. However, the Dragon Constellation up in the night sky does not. But God has faithfully created the wave of water, in such a way, as to illustrate this same concept of the seven heads, ten horns, and seven crowns. Because this wave of water is basically composed of ten stars. The main body of the wave has seven stars (#‘s, 1 thru 7). And the tip of the crest of the wave has the other three stars (#’s, 8, 9 & 10). So we have this 7 and 10 numbering. And this gives us a great clue, as to where in the Bible we should look, to find out the riddle as to just what or who do these 7 heads, 10 crowns, and 7 horns represent. Because, the Bible speaks very much about floods and waters as being associated with Satan (the Dragon).
